Barcelona vs Juventus Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Match Preview

Barcelona were thoroughly outclassed for the first leg of their Champions League tie. Unlike their more open and expansive opponents from the last round, JUventus are likely to shut up shop from the beginning here. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.

Game: Barcelona vs Juventus
Venue: Nou Camp Stadium
Kick-off: Wednesday 19th April, 7.45PM

Barcelona were as fantastic as PSG were calamitous at times in their famous comeback win. They have a goal less to overturn here but in truth they’ll find it much, much easier. Sloppy defending and a slightly fortunate deflection gave Barcelona a very early goal.

Juventus are far less likely to be open and attacking here but will fancy their chances of grabbing an away goal just like PSG did. We can expect the Italian side to be far more organised defensive here and some are already suggesting there’s no way back for Barcelona here.

The most ‘one sided’ loss that Juventus have suffered in an away Champions League game since the turn of 2000? 2-0. The only other time they’ve been beaten by two clear goals they have contributed what would here constitute as an away goal here. In fact, only once in their last 127 Champions League games have they lost by 3 goals and even a 4-1 win wouldn’t be enough for Barcelona.

Reasons for Betting Tips

Barcelona are unsurprisingly a short price at 8/15 to win this game as they chase down Juventus three goal lead, but there’s no guarantee they’ll even win. The draw can be backed at 15/4 and Juventus are best odds 5/1 all with Bet365.

If anyone can achieve this feat it’s Barcelona. Despite having a smaller lead to over turn, it’s a bigger ask than what they did against PSG and Juventus should be more than capable of seeing this through whether or not they score. That said, Juventus shouldn’t win on the evening and are 1/7 to qualify. Identifying a bet is tricky.

Will both teams score here? Quite possibly. Juve played out a 2-2 draw with Bayern in both their first and second leg knockout ties last year and went on to lose 4-2. Goals are a possibility but it all depends how long Juve hold out and the score will dictate how they play. I think Juve can really frustrate Barcelona in the early stages here.

Back our Free Betting Tip: Juventus +1AH half-time at 7/10 with Bet365.

The early Barcelona break down Juventus here the more chance we have of seeing the hosts really come out of their shell and getting a goal or two themselves. We think they’ll really frustrate Barcelona well past the hour mark and may not even need a goal.

Back our Score Prediction: a 2-1 Barcelona win at odds of 15/2 with Bet365.

If Barcelona are to get back in the game then Lionel Messi will probably be the catalyst. You’d never back against Higuain or Dybala finding a goal if Juventus score but the hosts are going to need some inspiration from their talisman here.

Back our Scorer Prediction: Lionel Messi to score at 6/10 with Bet365.
