Bournemouth vs Brighton Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Match Preview

Bournemouth host Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday evening and will no doubt be reeling from a late, late loss to Manchester City just before the break. Brighton can feel a bit happier coming into this having picked up four points to Bournemouth’s zero.

Game: Bournemouth vs Brighton and Hove Albion

Venue: Vitality Stadium

Kick-off: Friday 16th September, 7.45PM

Bournemouth have endured a tough start to their Premier League season, losing all four games so far. Manchester City scored the harshest of 95th-minute winners at the Vitality before the International break, but perhaps more disappointing was being a thorough second best to Watford a week earlier.

Brighton sparked a mini-run of form with their first win of the season when they hosted League Two Barnet. They followed that game with a second clean sheet in a 0-0 against Watford, which is something Bournemouth couldn’t manage. Brighton’s 3-1 win over West Brom after the International break represented progress.

Reasons for Betting Tips

Bournemouth are favourites to get their first Premier League win of the season at best odds of 23/20 with Bet365. The draw can be backed at 12/5 with Betfred whilst the away win is an outside bet at 12/5 with Paddy Power.

Brighton will be the more relaxed of the two teams ahead of this game and they’re clearly starting to find some rhythm in the way that they play. The Seagulls have been hard to break down this season, with even Manchester City struggling to breach them until around the hour mark and beyond.

But Bournemouth will no doubt be the more desperate of the two sides and there’s some logic to backing desperate sides. The Cherries haven’t been far off so far this season, but they’ve faced some tough fixtures and still deserved a point against Manchester City. Arsenal and West Brom will also inevitably make it hard for much better visiting teams than Bournemouth this season.

This sort of fixture is an ideal one for Bournemouth amidst their early season struggles. As organised as Chris Hughton’s men have looked, there’s probably something to be said for Premier League quality and experience showing over pure grit and determination. That was on show as West Ham beat Huddersfield on Monday evening.

Back our Free Betting Tip: Back Bournemouth to win at odds of 23/20 with Bet365

Bournemouth have been leaky enough stretching far back into last season that a Brighton goal wouldn’t surprise you, and perhaps the bookies expectations of a low scoring game involving the Seasiders will go out of the window again. But on the day Bournemouth do have enough quality to put on their best performance yet for the Sky cameras.

Back our Score Prediction: Bournemouth 2-1 at 7/1 with Betfred

It’s not an easy task to pick a goalscorer on current form with only three goals in four games for the visitors and a solitary wonder strike that you’re unlikely to see again from Charlie Daniels. But last season Josh King was a menace on this ground and he played a part in goals in five of Bournemouth’s last six results at home.

Back our Scorer Prediction: Back Josh King to score at 15/8 with Paddy Power
