Palace vs Everton Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Things haven’t really improved under Sam Allardyce as people at Palace expected, but it may only be a matter of time. Everton have definitely turned a corner haven’t seen off Arsenal and Man City in recent games. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.
Game: Crystal Palace vs Everton
Venue: Selhurst Park
Kick-off: Saturday 21st January, 3PM
The hosts have won just one of their last 15 Premier League games and it took Christian Benteke coming off the bench and producing the goods for them to scrape past League One Bolton in a replay on Tuesday night. Granted, Bolton are resilient, but Palace were poor.
Palace have scored no shortage of goals during their winless run but they have conceded far too many. They started the season like the dangerous attacking side we thought they’d be given their additions, going unbeaten in four of their first six and netting 10 times.
Since their last meeting with Everton, a 1-1 draw, it’s been all downhill for the Eagles. Everton hadn’t reproduced what we’ve come accustom to seeing from them, but they’re starting to go up the gears. A 4-0 demolish of Man City was a clear indication of what they’re capable of, but they’ve won only one of eight away and will be looking to address that here.
Hosts Palace are odds against at 21/10 with Boylesports to get only their second league win in 16 games. A draw, the outcome when the sides last met, is available at 9/4 with Ladbrokes. Visitors Everton are favoured 11/8 via Bet Victor.
It’s best to be cautious whilst backing against Palace, because the individual qualities they have are clear. They just haven’t come together as a group yet, but Allardyce often brings the best out of his players and is still only a few games in to his reign.
Everton will be confident that they are moving towards the European spots but they’re unlikely to achieve one on home form alone. As good as they are at Goodison, they really need to improve their away form. This could be an opportunity, but this should be a scrappy game, and big Sam knows how to get results in these ones. Back Crystal Palace +0.25AH at 13/15 with Bet Victor.
Regardless of how does or doesn’t prevail, it’d be naïve to expect a thriller. These sdes have played out four draws in seven meetings, with Everton beating Palace once in that time. Back a 1-1 draw at 13/2 with Sky Bet.
Finally we have the task of picking a goal scorer in a game we’ve predicted as a tight, tense and possibly scrappy draw. There’s only been three different scorers in four meetings, but I think it’s time the big money signing found form again after his midweek brace. Back Benteke to score at odds of 37/19 with 888Sport.
