Manchester City vs Tottenham Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview
Manchester City have won a record-setting 14 consecutive Premier League games. That run has seen them beat Liverpool, Arsenal, United and Chelsea amongst others. Spurs have been adjudged as ‘indifferent’ this season, yet could find themselves as little as one point behind second should results go their way this week.
Game: Manchester City vs Tottenham
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Kick-off: Saturday 16th November, 5.30PM
Manchester City look unstoppable. The conversation of Manchester City remaining unbeaten is one that continues to gather pace, and they’ve already passed a series of tough tests in beating the current top six in the Premier League. Seventh place Spurs are, you’d imagine, their final big hurdle until the New Year.
Just like this game, however, four of those six victories have come at home. There are bigger tests to come this season but Guardiola’s men will do well not to overlook Spurs. City’s last four games have finished 2-1 in their favour, with three of those winning goals coming in the final six minutes.
Spurs have won four of their eight away games so far this season but you may argue that none of those wins came against hard to beat sides at the time. Despite claims that Spurs are over-reliant on Harry Kane who has scored 12 in 15, his goals have only accounted for six of Spurs’ 28 points. Spurs have been performing well as a group and will need to do so again here.
Manchester City are obvious favourites at best odds of 1/2 with Bet365 here. The draw is far from an impossible result given the manner of City’s recent games at 7/2 with Paddy Power, whilst Spurs are priced at 5/1 with Betfair.
On one hand, you would look at Spurs’ odds and suggest they’re too big. Pochettino’s men never roll over, and City have been less prolific of late. They can’t keep leaving it as late as they have been. But then you’d say they have won 14 straight and scored at least two goals in 13 of them. Spurs’ have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six away, but they’re rarely short of goals. It’s best to avoid the match market here and focus on goals.
Back our Free Betting Tip: Over 2.5 and both score at 4/5 with Bet365
Manchester City have won their last four games by this very scoreline and Spurs have every chance of pushing their hosts here. In the end, the Blues are winning even when they aren’t playing their best, and Tottenham are finding on their travels that the finest margins lead to defeat.
Back our Score Prediction: Man City to win 2-1 at 6/1 with Ladbrokes
Manchester CIty’s last two Premier League games have been settled by goals from Nicolas Otamendi and David Silva either side of an opposition strike. Sterling, Aguero and Jesus all have eight or more Premier League goals with plenty of those coming here at the Etihad. Sergio Aguero had scored eight in four meetings before a recent speight of results for Tottenham.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Sergio Aguero at 5/6 with Ladbrokes
