Millwall Vs Watford Predictions, Betting Tips & match preview
Championship Millwall will be looking to spring another surprise on a Premier League team when they host Watford, after they beat Premier League Bournemouth 3-0 in the last round. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.
Millwall stunned Bournemouth in the last round, dispatching the Premier League side with ultimate ease. It was a much changed Cherries side though, and Watford are set to field a stronger 11 than their Premier League counterparts. That game was one of four straight home wins for Millwall and a run of seven games unbeaten overall in all competitions. The atmosphere at a sold out Den on Saturday should give the hosts every chance of pulling off another cup upset. Watford eased their way past Burton Albion in the last round, 2-0, and didn’t need to field a particularly strong side in doing so. But the visitors are not ones to put together a string of results often, although they have gone unbeaten in three.
Despite being a League One side, there isn’t much in the odds here with Millwall priced 21/10 with Bet365 and Watford at 31/21 with 888Sport. The draw can be backed at 9/4 with Boylesports.
Despite both being in and around the London area, Watford and Millwall are separated by 35 miles and this isn’t a rivalry by any means, even though they sides did meet regularly up until 2015 when Watford were promoted and Millwall relegated. Watford have had the better, winning seven and drawing one of the last 10 meetings.
Despite the two divisions separating the sides and the obvious gulf in class should Watford field their best side, the FA Cup is capable of bridging those gaps and when you look at Millwall as a club, the ground and fans on matchday included, you know they’re always capable of rising to an occasion. Back Millwall 0AH at 43/40 with Bet365.
Whilst it’s brave to suggest a repeat of the 3-0 against Bournemouth, it’s fair to say Millwall may need to keep things very tight at the back to stand a chance here, so just maybe they’ll earn another clean sheet. Back Millwall to win 1-0 at 8/1 with Betfred.
Lee Gregory didn’t score against Bournemouth, but he did earn Millwall a respectable point at Bradford last time out. He generally helps dictate their attacking play at home and often gets on the score sheet. Back Gregory to net at 15/8 with Sky Bet.
