Norwich vs Brighton Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Norwich have been a model of inconsistency and have no role to play in this Championship season other than spoilers. Their aims will be to damage Brighton’s title challenge this week and Leeds playoff charge the next. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.
Game: Norwich City vs Brighton
Venue: Carrow Road
Kick-off: Friday 21st April, 7.45PM
Brighton have shown absolutely no signs of slipping up in the past six weeks as they’ve won seven of eight games to secure a deserved promotion. Now the Seagulls need just one more win to mathematically clinch the Championship title but given Newcastle’s form at present, just another point could be enough.
That’s not to say that Brighton won’t want to continue their fine form and become the first side to break the 100 point barrier since Newcastle last escaped the Championship. City put promotion chasing Reading to the sword here recently, 6-1, but followed it up with a 3-1 loss against 10 man Fulham and yet were fantastic in beating Preston 3-1 away last weekend.
Their form at home is far more consistent than their overall form though having lost just two of their last 14. The reverse fixture saw the Canaries lose 5-0 at the AMEX. That was Brighton’s first win over Norwich in eight meetings and the hosts had scored 17 goals in 7 against Albion.
Odds on Norwich to win are dropping like a stone at 13/10 with Bet365 whilst the draw is available at 12/5. The away win would confirm Brighton as Champions and can be backed at 2/1 also with Bet365.
A team with no pressure on them can be a dangerous one but it also takes a brave man to back Norwich with too much confidence given their inconsistency. After the elation of such a big achievement last weekend you can also understand how Brighton could potentially fall flat here.
Without doubt Hughton will be promoting professionalism and it’ll make little difference where and how Brighton wrap up the title, but it would probably be more of an occasion if they did slip up here and leave until next week's meeting with Bristol City at the AMEX. Norwich haven’t been consistent enough to back here, but we know they can cause Brighton a scare at least.
Back our Free Betting Tip: Both Teams To Score at odds of 1.60 with Bet365.
Brighton have been solid defensively for most of the season and always capable of a goal or two themselves. Despite their continued fine form, their defensive efforts have let up in recent weeks conceeding in three of their last four. Norwich games have just been a goal fest in the month of April.
Back our Score Prediction: a 2-2 draw at odds of 10/1 with Bet365.
Brighton aren’t short of goal scoring options with Sam Baldock, Anthony Knockeart and Solly March all contributing heavily in recent weeks. Cameron Jerome has been potent in front of goal for the hosts, but it’s Glenn Murray who has been the man of the moment. He scored Brighton’s promotion sealing goal against Wigan on the weekend and he’s netted in five of Brighton’s last six wins.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Glenn Murray at 11/10 with Bet365.
