Bristol City have surprised many this season, as have Sheffield United. Despite having potential, United would have been happy with a consolidating mid-table finish, or perhaps a little run at the playoffs in their first season back at this level. But automatic promotion has to be seen as a possibility.
Lee Johnson’s Bristol City side have flirted with the upper reaches of the table in all of their early season stints at this level, but usually fade away around the Christmas period to end up battle relegation. City are currently within two wins of second place as the mid-way point of the season approaches.
Re-producing the form shown over the first 20 games is the challenge for both United and City in the second half of the season, but both have performed admirably against top 10 sides and should test each other here.

Sheffield United have wobbled in recents weeks as they’ve lost two of three and failed to beat Birmingham. United have struggled against lower table opposition, but have beaten all top four opposition to visit Bramall Lane so far, Wolves included.
Bristol City failed to win in back to back games recently and were out of shape for 60 minutes at Hull. But Johnson’s men turned things around in just 15 minutes, winning 3-2 before going on to beat Boro at home the following week.
City haven’t lost since a first day defeat at Birmingham City, but have drawn four of their 10 away games. A point here would arguably be a good results for both sides as it could provide a building block for United.
