Stoke City vs Hull City Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Match Preview

Stoke City are most probably safe but fans will want one more win to settle the nerves, and Mark Hughes won't want to allow the season to just peter our like it is. This is a huge opportunity for Hull who are much improved under Marco Silva. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.

Game: Stoke City vs Hull City
Venue: Bet365 Stadium
Kick-off: Saturday 15th April, 3pm

Stoke City are in danger of giving themselves a very uncomfortable end to the season. Winless in five and losers of their last four, Stoke have slipped into the bottom half and find themselves eight points clear of the relegation zone. In truth that should be a pretty big gap with only 18 points left to play for, but stranger things have happened.

But we have to consider that Stoke are very likely to pick up more points between now and the end of the season and Mark Hughes will be keen to prevent Stoke’s season from tailing off so dramatically. Even so this game matters much more to Hull, but their away form has not been good.

Hull have lost 13 of their last 14 away games and have failed to score in nearly all of these games. Incredibly their only away point in that run came against Manchester United in a game where they faced almost 40 shots. Hull’s home form will keep them in the Premier League and I think they’ll understand next week’s home game to Watford is bigger than this game.

Reasons for Betting Tips

Stoke City are rightful favourites as any team should be at home to Hull and they can be backed at odds of 10/11 with Coral. The draw is available 11/5 and Hull City are priced 29/10 also with Coral.

Motivation could be the deciding factor here as it’s hard to make a case for either side. Stoke have been poor lately and their whole season has been a bit of a disappointment. The points they do have are from beating struggling teams and the Potters have won six home games this season. Each of those wins was against a side in the bottom six at the time.

Hull occupy a similar position to those beaten by Stoke this season. Silva’s side have been fantastic at home and awful away. At the start of the season they looked awful home or away, but recently their away games have seen them visit the top sides in the league. Hull could still improve away so their might be value in their odds.

Back our Free Betting Tip: Hull City to win at odds of 29/10 with Coral.

Hull score very few goals away from home but defensively they’ve been poor. It’s a bad combination. They can’t earn results without clean sheets so that could be a starting point here. City will likely look to sit back and pick off Stoke on the counter, but few teams have stopped Stoke from scoring here this season.

Back our Score Prediction: Hull to win 2-1 at odds of 12/1 with Coral.

It’s useless looking at Hull’s away results when trying to settle on a goal scorer because they’ve only managed four in 14 games and they’ve come from different sources. At home Oumar Niasse has been the catalyst with five goals in his last six home games.

Back our Scorer Prediction: Oumar Niasse to pick off Stoke on the counter at 13/5 with Coral.
