Swindon vs Bristol Rovers Predictions, Be
Swindon and Bristol Rovers managed 60 minutes of this game when the sides met a few weeks back, but inclement weather brought that game to a halt. Below is our match preview, prediction and betting tips.
Game: Swindon Town Vs Bristol Rovers
Venue: County Ground
Kick off: Tuesday 20th September
Bristol Rovers and Swindon were ties 0-0 in a game lacking quality, played in treacherous conditions. That match lasted just 60 minutes before the referee stopped play. The sides will meet again on Tuesday with the pair now in differing form. Rovers are finding their feet in League One and look more of a threat each game, whilst Town have lost their last two league outings.
Clarke's men scored an 87th minute equaliser on the weekend to take away a 1-1 draw from Bradford. That's no mean feat for any newly promoted side and it was the least the visitors deserved. Rovers have now drawn their last two away games 1-1 and lost 3-2 to Chelsea in between.
Swindon come in to this game on the back of a disheartening loss to local rivals Oxford and a 2-1 defeat at home to Bury. Results since the international break mean Town have won just one of their last five, whilst 'The Gas' have drawn three straight but did more than enough to beat Walsall and Rochdale without getting the rub of the green.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Bristol Rovers are the favourites to win this game at odds of 11/8 with Bet365. The draw can be backed at 5/2 with Boylesports and the hosts Swindon, who are capable of a win here, can be backed at 15/8 with Bet365.
It may seem strong to have Bristol Rovers as favourites here. Prior to losing their last two games, Swindon had won both home games 1-0 and generally were competing. They have been tipped to struggle this year though with a small and young squad, and perhaps their initial reaction has worn off. Rovers have lost one of their last 15 league games on the road.
That was a record built on a League Two success. On paper Rovers haven't carried their form over, but performances have been just as good. There's an element of injustice to Rovers not beating Rochdale and Walsall at home which would put them just on the edge of the playoffs. They were also more than a match for Bradford at the weekend.
Bristol Rovers have lost one of the last six meetings with their local rival and having seen some of their performances myself of late, you do get the sense that in a minute when Rovers do beat someone, it's going to be quite a comprehensive one. They're a very capable team. Back Bristol Rovers: Draw No Bet at best odds 5/6 with Sky Bet.
Rovers have struggled defensively at times, but they've also been guilty of missing chances. They've created vast amounts in their last four games, scoring two against Rochdale and Chelsea. They've managed a goal in all nine games they've played in all competitions, but they've been guilty of missing just as many clear chances as they've scored. That will need to change but I don't foresee a clean sheet here. Back Bristol Rovers to win 2-1 at odds of 8/1 with Ladbrokes.
He didn't get on the score sheet this week, but with a ratio of 1 goal every two games through 112 appearances for Rovers, Taylor will likely get back amongst the goals in such a big game. Back Matty Taylor to score at odds of 13/8 with Paddy Power.
