Wolves vs Brighton Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Match Preview

Wolves have all but staved off relegation but they’ll still want to make certain win one more win. Brighton top the table and regardless of what Huddersfield do on Saturday can seal their promotion here. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.

Game: Wolves vs Brighton
Venue: Molineux Stadium
Kick-off: Friday 14th April, 5pm

This game should bring out the very best in both sides. Wolves had won five in a row but were humbled harshly at Bristol City with a 3-1 loss. The loss can be chalked down to a terrible performance in possession from Wolves, who were a solid match for Bristol City on the day. Paul Lambert wouldn’t have liked that and is unlikely to allow complacency, safe or not.

Brighton took any remaining pressure off of themselves with a fantastic win at QPR last Friday. They’re now 12 points clear of Huddersfield and although the Terriers have a game in hand, Brighton can secure promotion on Friday with their fantastic goal difference making them uncatchable.

Both of these sides in fact can say they’ve won five of their last six and you can imagine Lambert has set Wolves the mini-target of a top 12 finish now. The problem for the hosts, despite their fantastic winning run, is that they’ve not beaten a team in the top 10 since Reading visited in August.

Reasons for Betting Tips

Wolves are best price 23/10 with Paddy Power to take all three points whilst the draw can be backed at the same odds, 23/10, through Betfair. In a tightly priced game, Brighton can seal their promotion at 7/5 with Stan James but they are drifting.

When the sides met in October at the AMEX it was Brighton who snuck a 1-0 win on the evening. It was a competitive effort from Wolves who had won there the previous season and had been unbeaten in four against this season's champions in waiting. And the last five games between the pair have been decided by no more than a single goal, with three finishing level and all five featuring two or fewer goals.

11 of Wolves home games have featured two or fewer goals so far this season and they’ve finished on the wrong side of a majority of them. But since mid December for Brighton, seven of 10 games have featured at least three goals. WIth the pressure off of both sides here we should see an open and attacking game.
Back our Free Betting Tip: Over 2.5 goals at evens with Bet365.

At this stage of the season it’s fair to say teams without motivation or pressure can be dangerous and that may be the case for this visit to Wolves, but Brighton won’t be deterred and will want to play on the front foot. Wolves can attack freely but they have allow 16 of the last 19 visitors here to find the net at least once.
Back our Score Prediction: Brighton to win 3-1 at odds of 18/1 with Bet365.

Wolves have had no one standout scorer of late although Helder Costa has been a threat. When it’s come to the crunch, Glenn Murray has stepped up for Brighton and netted in four of his last five.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Murray to score at odds of 15/8 with 888Sport.
