Alianza vs Medellin Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Alianza vs Medellin Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

The top of the Primera A is rather congested, but Medellin find themselves top. It’s been a while since they last took first place, settling for the tag of ‘runner up’ in the last two season. They’ll need to get their away form back on track. Below are our predictions, betting tips and preview.

Game: Alianza Petrolera vs Medellin
Venue: Estadio Daniel Villa Zapata
Kick-off: Wednesday 5th October, 11pm

Medellin haven’t won the top flight title since 2004, but their fantastic home form so far this season has put them in good stead. It’s their away form that needs addressing, having failed to win in their last five games. They had made a positive start after a strong finish to last season but they need to get back on track.

Playing away to Alianza may provide an opportunity to do just that as they find themselves down the wrong end of the table at present. They haven’t been a push over at home though, already holding Atletico Nacional to a 3-3 draw early in this Clausara season. They have plenty of time to turn things around still.

Medellin have are unbeaten in five games against Alianza having won the last three meetings, but two of those did come at home. Medellin won on their last visit here.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Alianza are best odds to record just their third home win of the season at odds of 9/4 with Sky Bet, whilst Bet365 offer 11/5 on the draw. You can back the away favourites at best odds 6/5 through William Hill.

Santa Fe’s late 1-0 win here a few weeks ago is the only blotch on Alianza’s record over the last seven weeks as their poor early season form has given way to a run of good results. Alianza have drawn three and won three during that time.

Although they have seen of La Equidad and Boyaca – both teams struggling at the bottom of the table – Alianza have also been strong enough to prevent Atletico Huila and Bucaramanga from moving to the top of the table at the time of their draws.

The main concern for Medellin is addressing their current away form which has seen them fail to win in their last five games. Second placed Envigado and fourth placed Nacional remain the only sides to have beaten Medellin this season, but too many failures to kept a clean sheet on their travel has been an issue of late. We can expect goals given the way Medellin games have gone so far. We’ve already seen a 4-3 win on the road for them and for all of the attacking talent they posses, they look very easy to unsettle at the back. Back this game to finish a 2-2 draw using Betfair.

Unfortunately there are no odds available on an any time goal scorer in this game, but if they do become available, then Leonardo Castro has scored 13 league goals for Medellin since the start of the year.
