Brighton vs Huddersfield Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Brighton and Huddersfield are two fancied teams this season, although they’ve made differing starts. Huddersfield top the league with 16 points whilst Albion are mid table with half of their opponent’s tally. Below are our predictions, betting tips and match preview.
Game: Brighton & Hove Albion vs Huddersfield Town
Venue: AMEX Stadium
Kick-off:Tuesday 13th September, 7.45pm
This will be Huddersfield biggest test in my opinion. They’ve made a quick start, although favourites like Newcastle and Aston Villa haven’t been quite so quick of out of the blocks. Villa keep dropping points from winning positions which is what they did against Town, and Newcastle took a few games to click.
I wouldn’t want to take away from what Wagner has done, but a much less complicated fixture list around those games makes me think Town aren’t here to stay. They will have taken great pleasure in beating rivals Leeds to stay top of the pile at the weekend, and regardless of the result here they’ll remain top.
Brighton have lost their last two games. There was no shame in losing 2-0 to Newcastle who are suddenly in form, but the result against Brentford was a disappointment. They had won their three previous home games by 3 or more goals and without conceding. It should just have been a small wobble that Brighton will overcome.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Brighton are odds on favourite at 10/11 with Bet365 here. Some bookmakers go as low as 17/20. That may seem like an insult to Huddersfield’s form, but I think that is an adjusted price. The draw is best odds 27/10 with Bet Victor and Huddersfield can be backed at 7/2 at the same outlet.
Even though I’ll be shocked to see Huddersfield finish within touching distance of the top four of five this season, you have to see the value in their price of 17/2 given current form. I stand by what I’ve said above though that this is a much tougher test for them than anything they’ve faced so far. Brighton will be keen to return to form and this is a hard, hard place to come.
Town have won back to back away games just once since the end of the 2013/14 season. You could see what Wagner was striving to do last season even through their struggles, but it’s a big jump to be competing with the likes of Newcastle’s budget on cohesion and identity alone. Brighton have a nice blend of both, and I do believe they’ll extend their fantastic home form here with a win.Brighton to win at 10/11 is our free betting tip.
I’m certainly not wanting to be one of those simply writing Huddersfield off here, because I’m not. As a Leeds fan I was happy to admit (for the sake of smart investment) that the only way to beton Saturdaywas draw no bet on the Terriers, and it paid out. Here I think it’s been a busy start to the season, they are riding high, but it might even serve them well to be brought back down to earth a bit. They’ve been good defensively and they’ll likely score, so don’t expect another stroll for Albion. Brighton to win 2-1 is best odds 8/1 with Betfair.
Glenn Murray and Tomer Hemed are a lethal combination up front. It’ll be a challenge for Huddersfield to keep so many threats from different areas of the pitch quiet, but the biggest of them all remains Murray. I love the way he plays. He’s a fantastic strker at this level and he looks like scoring whenever he is on the pitch.Back Glenn Murray to score anytime at odds of 9/5 with Paddy Power.
