Bristol Rovers vs Gillingham Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Preview
Bristol Rovers have definitely adapted to life in League One now and should be looking forward to the visit of a Gillingham side
who although a threat, really do struggle on their travels. Below are our predictions, betting tips and match preview.
Game:Bristol Rovers vs Gillingham
Kick-off:Saturday 15thOctober, 3pm
Bristol Rovers have lost just one of their last nine games against League opposition and they can even consider themselves to have been unfortunate when losing out on that ocassion. Bristol Rovers, 10 men and all, more than had the better of Sheffield United in the final 30 minutes of their 1-0 loss to Sheffield United.
Gillingham can only dream of being involved in such a tight game on their travels at the moment. After opening their season with a 5-0 loss to league leaders Scunthorpe, they never got back on track. They've allowed 23 goals in eight away games so far. Surprisingly they have won one game, a dramatic 3-2 win on their travels.
Bristol Rovers know a thing or two about both teams scoring. It's happened in 12 of their 15 games in all competitions this season. Both of their clean sheets have been in cup action. Rovers have fell behind in all seven of their last seven league games, yet have won three and drawn three. Gillingham will need to tighten up their defence here.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Bristol Rovers are 23/20 with William Hill whilst the draw can be backed at 13/5 with Bet Victor. Gillingham, despite their form, remain a threat. They can be backed at odds of 11/4 with Bet365.
After a somewhat slow start, Bristol Rovers may have defined the way their season will go having turned a run of four draws in to a run of three wins. It could have gone either way as the Gas trailed in all seven of those games, but went on to show plenty of the character that has built back to back promotions.
Gillingham are on paper a play-off contender and certainly a more experienced side at this level than Bristol Rovers (recently, anyway) but momentum and form is key. Rovers are clear favourites to win this game and given the threat they're showing in front of goal and Gillingham's calamitous defending on the road, you'd expect them to more than contribute to a very open game here.Back Over 2.5 goals at odds of 10/11
Rovers haven't made easy work of any game they've played in this season, but with a rowing confidence, Matty Taylor returning to the side and the international break to prepare, I think we'll see a couple of firsts here. Expect the Gas to take the lead and build on it.Back a 3-1 win for Bristol Rovers at odds of 14/1 with Bet365.
After missing the last few games due to injury, Matty Taylor should be looking forward to getting back on the pitch here. Gillingham's defense are worse than any other side in the football league on their travels, so I expect plenty of chances to fall the little man's way. Back Matty Taylor to score at odds of 6/5 with Betfair.
