Bristol Rovers vs Port Vale Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview

Bristol Rovers vs Port Vale Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Bristol Rovers recorded a massive result on Tuesday, beating local rivals Swindon after four draws in a row. Port Vale have performed well so far and find themselves in the playoff positions. Below are our predictions, betting tips and preview.

Game: Bristol Rovers vs Port Vale

Venue: Memorial Stadium

Kick off: Saturday, 24th September, 3pm

Bristol Rovers trailed Swindon from the 6th minute until the 83rd, until a penalty from top goal scorer Matty Taylor drew them level and an own goal forced by Jermaine Easter just sixty seconds later gave the Gas all three points over their local rivals. After a slow start, Rovers matched Swindon for the remainder of the half and were by far the dominant side in the latter stages, forcing 14 corners, hitting the woodwork on more than once occasion and drawing some fine saves. Swindon goalkeeper Lawrence Vigoroux was awarded man of the match by the home side.

Port Vale didn't play midweek having already played eight games and amassed 14 points. With the early season table being so tight, Vale could jump from fifth to top (although they probably won't overuturn the goal difference) with a win here. Last time out they beat Gillingham 2-1, making it four from four at home. Their away form has seen them collect two points from four games having lost to Swindon Town 1-0, and Bury 4-1.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Bristol Rovers odds were dropping before their midweek game and continue to do so. You can back them at even money with Bet365 and many others. The draw can be found at odds of 5/2 with Matchbook whilst the away side to win is 13/5 with Betfair.

At a glance you might say Vale are flying high. We have to remember this is merely the early season table, so no team's position is likely to be their end position. Vale have won all four of their home games but away they've really struggled and they've yet to win. Rovers are guilty of letting chances slip at home having let Rochdale and Walsall escape with a point, but this looks a good chance.Given how fragile Vale are on the road and on the back of a win and being five unbeaten, this is a good chance for Rovers. From Vale's point of view they'll know that Rovers have scored and conceded in every single game this season, so they will definitely fancy their chances of scoring even if they were to fall behind. It's hard to win games without keeping clean sheets in this league.

I think Rovers will win this game, but until they keep a clean sheet (they've had one in 11) then I think Both Teams to Score is priced higher than it should be here. Bet on that at 4/5 with 10Bet.

In terms of a correct score we will take in to account our above bet and my belief that Bristol Rovers will win. They were victorious by a 2-1 margin midweek and could match that feat. Bet on Bristol Rovers to win 2-1 at odds of 8/1 with Paddy Power.

I don't think our any time scorer, Matty Taylor, needs any introductions or much explaining. He scored from the spot midweek. We like to take on the penalty takers just in case. And in open play he's dangerous. He's now become the 7/1 favourite to be top scorer in this league having registered seven in all competitions and at home is where he's most dangerous. Bet on Matty Taylor at odds of 13/10 with Bet365.
