Bristol Rovers vs Walsall Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
The Pirates played out a second straight draw on Saturday, despite being much the better team. Walsall continued to struggle away as they were beaten 2-0 by newcomers Northampton. Below is our match preview, prediction and betting tips.

Game: Bristol Rovers vs Walsall
Venue: Memorial Stadium
Kick off: Tuesday 13th September, 3pm

Rovers twice came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw on Saturday although certainly should have beat Rochdale. It’s too early to call it a poor start, because the positives are there. Walsall are considered a playoff contender yet sit below Rovers after a slow start themselves. It’s a long season.

The positives that Rovers can take is that they’ve taken points in three games where we would expect them to take points. Five points from Oxford, Southend and Rochdale is by no means a terrible return. Their two league losers came against the sides currently in 1st and 2nd – Bolton and Scunthorpe.

The Gas dominated both for at least 45 minutes but were taught some harsh lessons about league one along the way. Walsall’s 2-0 loss to Northampton extended their run to 31 unbeaten, but still, you expect better of a ‘playoff contender’ against promoted sides. Walsall have yet to score away from home this season with their only win coming against promoted AFC Wimbledon at home.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Bet365 are best odds on a Bristol Rovers win with their price of 13/10. The draw – which has been the outcome if Rovers’ last two games – can be backed at 12/5 with Sky Bet. Walsall have yet to win away this season, but they’re 23/10 with Bet Victor.

The other positive for Rovers is that they currently have two games in hand on the rest of the league (apart from Walsall) because of two postponed fixtures. Should the blues be victorious on Tuesday, they could move up to 14th place with one more game in hand still to play.

Walsall can achieve the same positioning with a win and everything would suddenly look a little more rosy for both clubs, but it really is too early in the season to comment on any side being near the relegation zone. But the longer such run goes on for any team the more damaging it could be. Whilst Bristol Rovers face six of their nine games at home, Walsall will face Bolton, Scunthorpe and Millwall amongst their next four games.

I feel hard done by that Rovers didn’t get us a win on Tuesday, but I believe they have another great chance here. Bolton remain the only team to win here dating way back in to last season and I think eventually Clarke will have his men winning home games again. Back Bristol Rovers as our free betting tip at best odds of 13/10 with Bet365.

One thing that definitely does need to change about Rovers is the defence. The addition of Hiram Boateng in front of the back four should tighten things up, but you can’t give away goals in every game and wonder why you aren’t winning. Rovers have scored and conceded in every game they’ve played this season – even against Chelsea - with the exception of a 1-0 home win over Cardiff. Walsall will probably get their first away goal of the season here. Bristol Rovers 2-1 Walsall is available to back at odds of 8/1 with Bet Victor.

The positive for both of these clubs is that they have someone who is scoring goals. They’ve only come at home in Walsall’s case, but Oztumer Jackson and Bakayoko all have at least two goals. Rovers scoring threat has been more spread out bar one . Matty Taylor looks like a man who will easily register the 20 goal tally he managed in the conference and league two for Rovers. He scored twice on Saturday to make it five in seven this season so when odds become available, we will take MTas out any time scorer once again.
