Chicago Fire vs DC United Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Chicago are struggling to win games still, but they’ve got a new found resilience at home. DC themselves have been making a late charge for the playoffs so this is a huge game for them. Below is our match preview, prediction and betting tips.
Game: Chicago Fire vs DC United
Venue: Toyota Park
The most entertaining game of the MLS calendar this weekend could be the first. Chicago have struggled to win games. Their season was over before it began, but they can still have a big say in the final positioning starting here. They’ve been picking up points more regularly at home and they’ll make this tough DC United.
Given the amount of ups and downs in DC games recently this could be a fantastic spectacle. It looked as if they’d come from behind to secure a 2-2 draw at City two weeks ago. Their 92nd minute equaliser was cancelled out by Lampard a minute later. Last week DC trailed rivals New York Red Bulls 2-0, but two very late goals earned them a point.
It was the second time in less than four weeks DC came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with their rivals. Chicago will be very much focused on extracting revenge in this game. The last meeting between the sides, just a few weeks back, was a fiery affair. Chicago were beaten 6-2 after Thiem saw red. The game was tied 1-1 at the time of the sending off just before half time.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Such has been the struggles for DC United on the road, Chicago are favourites to win at odds of 7/10 with Bet Victor. The draw can be backed at 27/10 with the same outlet whilst backing DC United to win can be done at best odds 17/4 with Winner.
For those of you not that familiar with MLS, the odds might not make too much sense when I share the facts. Chicago have won just six of their 27 MLS games this season. They’ve won just 13 of 61 over the last two games. In the last three seasons, Fire have won 19 of 95 games. You get the picture. They’re a constant struggler and to back them at this odds would be shot away.
DC are underdogs because of their struggles on their travels this season. They’ve managed just one win this season following on from two last year. That said, they’ve avoided defeat in nine of 14. They’ve been draw specialists on their travels. They do have goals in them. One thing to note about Chicago’s wins is that they have for the most part been 1-0, which suggests they’ve scored and sat on it.This game will be much more open and both sides will score at least once. DC United +0.5AH is our free betting tip at odds of 11/10 with Stan James.
DC have seen both teams scoring in most of their recent games and their away games this season. I would never feel comfortable saying either of these sides will keep a clean sheet, so a high scoring affair shouldn’t surprise you.A 2-2 draw can be backed at odds of 15/1 with Bet Victor.
Finally, we have to pick a scorer. Both sides have been scoring plenty of goals recently and the most prominent name has been Michael de Leeuw. The 29 year old dutchman is sued to reaching double figures in the Eredivisie but took time to acclimatise to the States. He has three in his last three now though and could be finding form. Back Michael de Leeuw to score when odds become available.
