Everton vs Liverpool Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
As if Super Sunday wasn’t juicy enough, Everton host Liverpool at Goodison Park on Monday evening. It’s been a long time since Everton won this fixture, but they remain unbeaten at home. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.
Game: Everton vs Liverpool
Venue: Goodison Park
Kick-off: Monday 19th December, 8pm
Liverpool have absolutely dominated this fixture dating back to 2010 now, holding the Toffees winless in that time. The Reds have won have five and drawn the remaining seven, outscoring Everton heavily at Anfield, although not so much on the road.
The last two meetings at Goodison have finished all square, with only two combined goals in the two meetings. There has been some thoroughly entertaining meetings between the two, but equally some cagey affairs. Liverpool’s lack of striking options hasn’t lessened their goal scoring power, though.
And defensively they continue to struggle. Whilst Everton have not been held scoreless at home this season, they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in six of eight Premier League games.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Visitors Liverpool are the favourites to win this game at 19/20 but that price is too short for me. The draw can be backed at odds of 27/10 through Betfair, whilst the home side are good value at 33/10 with Bet Victor.
I can’t support Liverpool being such a firm favourite. They’re failed to win three of their last five games and two of three on the road. Despite leading Bournemouth 3-1, they were beaten. They’re still scoring goals but this could be a tighter affair where mistakes need to be at a premium.
Everton find themselves back in eighth with their overall form never looking anything other than patchy. It’s misleading, and it’s probably also helping to offer up some good prices on the Toffees, who remain unbeaten at home after their win over Arsenal. Back Everton +0.5AH at 29/30 with Bet Victor.
There’s been little in-between when these sides have met. We’ve seen Liverpool thump Everton several times and even a 3-3 draw, coupled with 0-0 and 1-1 scorelines. Given Everton’s performances at home and LIverpool’s good goalscoring yet equally bad defensive record, I think we’ll see goals here. Back a 2-2 draw at odds of 12/1 with Betfred.
The big man is again Everton’s main threat, scoring nine times in 15 Premier League games so far this season. If Everton are going to get a result against their rivals, they’ll need such players to step up to the plate. Back Romelu Lukaku to score at odds of 2/1 with Sky Bet.
