Feyenoord vs Manchester United Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Manchester United won’t have time to ponder their weekend derby day loss as they face a tough test here. The hosts have won 13 of 14 in all competitions with only PSV slowing them down. Mourinho can afford some rotation and United should triumph if they field a strong side. Below is our match preview, prediction and betting tips.
Game: Feyenoord vs Manchester United
Venue: Stadion Feijenoord
Kick off :Thursday 15th September, 6pm
It will be interesting to see how Manchester United fair in Europe under Jose Mourinho. Being that they’re in the Europa League rather than the Champions League, it certainly puts Jose in the position of being the most qualified manager in the competition to win it. The close proximity between European and Premier League games is something United will have to manage well.
The Dutch side are a very experienced side in European competition now, but so are these United players. Given the atmosphere produced at this ground I would have to call their home record poor. Last seasons draw with Roma away and win over Sevilla were the highlights of their recent campaign, but they’ve been beaten by the likes of Krasnodar and Kalmar here.
The Dutch club have won just two of 20 away in the Europa League. Both games against United, for me, are probably a write off in that they won’t win one. Their games against Zorya are the big ones, but that isn’t to say they won’t want the three points here. But I’m not sure they’re good enough.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Bet365 offer 10/3 and are best odds on a home win here. It certainly isn’t beyond Feyenoord. The draw can be backed at a price of 11/4 with Paddy Power whilst United are the favourites to earn three points at 10/11. You can bet on that price using William Hill.
This is a United side that is really full of experience and now also big game players. Pogba, Ibrahimovic, etc should be grabbing games like this by the scruff of the neck and absolutely dominating. Even though Feyenoord are a respectable team, those players are used to dominating opposition of this quality in Europe.
This will be Feyenoord’s first meeting with English opposition in this competition. United’s one and only season in this competition was nothing more than an absolute embarrassment. They sneaked out of a poor group and then were beaten comfortably by Liverpool. But this is a very different group of players.Back Manchester United to win at odds of 10/11 with William Hill.
One common feature of Feyenoord games in Europe have been goals. We saw some really dramatic games here over the past two years and they’ve been just as leaky on the road. They’re a threat going forward, but their defence is often coming up short at this level. I do hope United play a strong team because they’ll get goals if they do. Feyenoord 1-3 ManUtdis available at odds of 15/1 with Betway.
We can’t be sure what sort of team will play in this game, but Zlatan falls in to the same mould as Messi and Ronaldo. Even if he is only half fit and not particularly needed, he’s a player that demands to be on the pitch. He should feature regardless of rotation. Back Zlatan to keep up his impressive record in Europe at odds of 13/10 withBetway.
