Gillingham vs Bradford City Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
It’s been a slow start to the season for a Gillingham side you may expect to challenge this season. Bradford have started well as always and look an early season contender for the playoffs at the very least. Below is our match preview, prediction and betting tips.
Game: Gillingham vs Bradford City
Venue: Priestfield Stadium
Kick off: Saturday 10th September, 3pm
Gillingham were 2-1 losers when they hosted Sheffield United here just six days ago. An injury time Billy Sharp penalty condemned them to their second home defeat in the space of four days after their cup loss against league two leaders Luton.
The loss extended Gillingham’s current run to failing to win in four of their last five after a good start, but it’s still early days and they’re hardly out of form. Still, it’s now 16 goals allowed in eight goals for the Gills who need to tighten things up.
Bradford find themselves second in the table via three wins and three draws and have yet to taste defeat in the league. Their results away from home makes them the best side of those who have spent the last three seasons in league one, going unbeaten in 37 of 50 away league games.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Gillingham to win is available at best odds 9/5 with Ladbrokes and the hosts will be hoping to get back on track. The draw is 12/5 with Bet365 whilst visitors Bradford can be backed to continue their fine form at 17/10 with William Hill.
Bradford have the right attitude and organisation to get results on the road and they’re demonstrating that already this season. Gillingham are a very good side who will be there or there about, but they’re very inconsistent with their performances at the moment.
Bradford showed a lot of character to come from behind and earn a positive 1-1 draw away to MIllwall last week but I expect them to be more the aggressor here as Gillingham look to iron out some issues. Bradford +0.25AH is our free betting tip at 7/11 with Bet Victor.
With Gillingham being too open at the back and Bradford having scored in their last five games, it wouldn’t surprise me to see the visitors score more than once. At the same time the Gills have registered a goal in all four of their home games this season. Five of their last seven home losses have come via a 2-1 score line, and you can bet on the same outcome here at odds of 9/1 with Stan James.
There hasn’t been a stand out figure for the Bantams so far. It’s been very much a team effort, with only MacMahon getting on the score sheet more than once. Both of those goals came from the spot, so our goal scorer selection for this game is barely an educated guess.
Billy Clarke only netted four last season but previously had managed 14 for Town. He’s got two in all competitions this season and will lead the line on Saturday. He an be backed at 9/4 with Coralto get a goal.
