Leeds vs Blackburn Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
There’s only so many times you can write an opening paragraph about a Leeds United game before it starts to sound like you’re just copying and pasting. Something needs to change, but under Gary Monk it should eventually. Blackburn’s poor form might make this a perfect opportunity to get back on track.Below are our predictions, betting tips and match preview.
Game: Leeds United vs Blackburn Rovers
Venue: Elland Road
Kick-off: Tuesday 13th September, 7.45pm
Leeds United were beaten 1-0 by local rivals Huddersfield on Saturday. It was a very drab game and a contentious win for the visitors. The league leaders goal via Aaron Mooy, who Gary Monk argues shouldn’t have been on the pitch. There was no disputing the quality of the goal itself.
Leeds certainly have the manager and playing staff to have a very positive season still. You could say the same for a Blackburn side that are bottom with just two points, but things clearly aren’t working out there either. Both clubs have become used to failure and disappointment in recent years.
Owen Coyle struggled in his last managerial job in the US and has picked up where he left off here. With players like Emnes, Graham, Stokes and Conway in the ranks, you would think Blackburn would have no problems going forward. They remain winless and they’re struggling for goals whilst the defence concedes freely.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Leeds are 11/10 favourites with Bet365 to win this game. It certainly is the Whites most winnable game so far this season. The draw is best odds 5/2 with Bet Victor whilst Blackburn can be backed at 13/5 with Paddy Power.
I feel that Leeds are closer to where they want to be than Blackburn. Both teams have a lot of work to do, but United have at least won three games in all competitions. They progressed through two rounds of cup competition and also beat Sheffield Wednesdayon their travels. A late draw against Fulham also showed some character.
Blackburn left Elland Road 2-0 winners last season. United had turned things around shortly after under Evans, losing only twice in their next 14 home league games. Leeds have already lost two and drawn one of three at home this season. It’s so important Elland Road becomes a fortress gain.
Luckily for Leeds, Rovers’ away form is as bad as anyone. They managed just 17 goals in 23 away games, with their only wins coming against strugglers likes of Leeds and Rotherham. Despite their yo-yo form, Leeds are a lot closer to getting things right than Blackburn are, and I have to trust Gary Monk over Owen Coyle. Leeds United to win at odds of 11/10 with Bet365 is our free betting tip.
Blackburn don’t score enough goals for me to consider one of their players as an any time scorer. Leeds haven’t been prolific either, but I do think that one player who looks like making something happen any time he features is Marcus Antonsson. I still believe his performances haven’t got the goals he deserved with only two in seven, but more should come. Back the Swede to score at odds of 19/10 with Betfair.
Blackburn have allowed too many goals, but Leeds have been far from clinical. I wouldn’t expect Leeds to punish Blackburn like other teams have even if they do win this game, so a lower scoring game can be expected. Blackburn lost by a score line of 1-0 very often on their travels last year. Leeds aren’t in the business of keeping many clean sheets, but they didn’t concede in their last two wins .Leeds United to win 1-0 can be backed at odds of 6/1 with Bet365.
