Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham City Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Preview
There are not one, but two fascinating and (fairly) local affairs in the Championship on Fridaynight. Birmingham will make the 50
minute trip to face a Forest side threatening to spiral badly out of form. Below are our predictions, betting tips and match preview.
Game: Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham City
Venue: City Ground
Kick-off: Friday 14thOctober, 7.45pm
Forest find themselves in the position of having lost four of their last five games. The single point they did pick up during that run came against a Fulham side, at home, who are also struggling to find their previous form. Forest had made a strong start to the season, but as the goals have dried up their defensive problems have caught up with them.
12 of Forest's 14 games games this season have seen at least three goals with Forest allowing two or more in 11 of those. Such defensive frailties only
lead to one thing in a league this ruthless, and that's a relegation battle. Luckily for Forest they've been potent themselves, but they've managed
just four in their last five games.
Birmingham are not the most free scoring of side but they could definitely teach Forest a lesson or two. They've allowed just five goals in their last eight games. Their unbeaten run has seen them move to sixth in the table and they could temporarily go second with a win here, depending on what Bristol City do.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Nottingham Forest are available at 29/20 with Coral to get back on track here whilst the draw can be backed at 23/10. Birmingham are as high as 2/1 with Bet365 to win here and that seems good value.
Forest did face three sides (plus Arsenal) who find themselves in the top eight of the league during their recent sticky patch, but regardless of opposition, their awful defence is going to cost them against any team in this league. Birmingham will be looking to exploit that.
Birmingham haven't had the toughest fixture list in the world themselves, but during their eight game run they've held off Norwich, Sheffield Wednesdayand Reading. All of those teams are in good form, and outside of those games Brum have beaten teams they should be beating. Arguably, Forest fall in to that category.Birmingham to win at 2/1 with Bet365 provides quite good value.
Birmingham haven't featured in any really open games this season. They did lose 3-1 to a clinical Wolves side prior to this unbeaten run, but they've been water tight since. Any side that can punish Norwich 3-0 can potentially keep a clean sheet and punish this Forest defence.Back a 1-3 win for Birmingham at odds of 10/1 with Paddy Power.
Brums' big man Donaldson has been the man on the end of their moves so far this season. He's netted four goals in eight games. All of those came in his last four outings and he seems to be benefiting from his new found place in Jamaica's national team.Back Clayton Donaldson to score at odds of 9/5 with Betfair.
