Valencia vs Atletico Madrid Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Atletico Madrid remain unbeaten so far this season and come in to this game on the back of a fantastic 1-0 win over Bayern Munich. That's a morale boosting result for anyone, but two big games in the space of a few days could take effect. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.
Valencia vs Atletico Madrid
Venue: Estadio de Mestalla
Kick off: Sunday 2nd October, 11am
Valencia pulled themselves out of the relegation zone with back to back wins over Deportivo Alaves and Leganes. Things are not well at the Mestalla, as those two wins against the promoted sides are the only two wins that they've achieved so far this season. They can't be looking forward to the trip of Atletico too much, but they may be the fitter side.
We are well aware that we should know better than to expect a Diego Simeone side to be anything over than fully fit and completely prepared here. Some rotation is likely but the Atletico way of playing won't differ.
Atletico Madrid have only won five of their 25 visits to this stadium but they've likely never faced a Valencia side with as many problems as this one. I don't think the sacking of the coach has moved them forward at all, as the newly promoted sides more than competed with them in a pair of narrow losses.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Valencia are 7/2 with Bet365 to record their third straight win here whilst the draw can be found at 13/5 with Bet Victor. Both of those prices are currently shortening as Atletico Madrid continue to rise and are currently 19/20 with Coral.
Atletico were held only six times on their travels this season and already I believe this is a team that can win the title. They held Barcelona last season and did the same again just last week, before repeating last seasons toppling of Bayern Munich.
Valencia's response to their problems was to relieve their head coach of his duties after just four games of the season. That decision probably had little to no baring on the next two results, where I feel Valencia were more than matched by the newly promoted sides. It was a less than convincing as Valencia had to come from 1-0 down in Leganes, and needed an 88th minute winner against Alaves.
I'm going to overlook Atletico's record on this ground and also the fact that they had a tough midweek game against Bayern, because Simeone has probably planned ahead for this game. I also think Valencia's form has just been too bad to topple Atletico Madrid. Back Atletico Madrid to win at odds of 19/20 with Coral.
Atletico being Atletico, nothing is ever too emphatic. Maybe Valencia are putting up more of a fight since the sacking of the manager forced the reality of the situation to set in, but ultimately they should come up short. Back Atletico to win 2-1 at 8/1 with Unibet .
Antoinne Griezmann is a man with five goals in five games this season. He's also registered in other competitions, and he's always the danger man for Atletico. Back him to score at odds of 3/2 with Sky Bet.
