Wales vs Georgia Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Wales will be pretty happy with their return so far in qualifying having just held Austria to a 2-2 draw, and you'd expect them to get all three points here. Below are our predictions, betting tips and preview.
Wales vs Georgia
Venue: Cardiff City Stadium
Kick-off: Sunday 9th October, 5pm
Georgia were beaten 1-0 in Ireland despite it being a a particular poor performance from the home side. Ireland weren't lively up front and never had the options to change the game, yet still got the win. Georgia only threatened because of defensive slip ups and otherwise spent the second half wildly shooting over the bar.
Wales once again have competed with a very good side in a tough stadium to play in. Several years ago Wales would have definitely lost a game like that but on this occasion twice took the lead. They did have to hold out a little bit at the end, but it was a good performance.
Georgia will set up defensively and look to do the same to Wales that they did to Ireland. They were probably surprised to have such comfortable possession early in the game on Thursday,
but Wales won't afford them such a luxury.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Wales are just 1/3 with Sportingbet whilst the draw can be backed at 3/1 with Stan James. Bet Victor are offering 11/1 on a Georgia win which would be a huge shock in my opinion.
Wales twice took the lead in Austria through goals from Joe Allen and a Kevin Wimmer own goal. Twice they let the lead slip with responses from Marko Arnautovic, but Wales won't be encountering such quality here. This game is all about being patient, taking your chances and just keeping a good shape. Georgia wont break Wales down if they do those things.
We took Ireland-1AH against Georgia and got our money. Although Georgia could have scored, they were all chances born out of slack Irish defending. Ireland hit the woodwork a few times themselves and should have scored more. Wales, like Ireland, excel more in the role of underdogs, but as we saw against Moldova in their last home qualifier, Wales are good enough to be taking the initiative against any team. Back Wales –1.5AH as our free betting tip at odds of 10/11 with Stan James
They made light work of Moldova and this game will be just as comfortable, but don't expect Wales to score as freely. Georgia do look more organised under Weiss. Back 2-0 as our correct score at 9/2 with Paddy Power.
Gareth Bale might be an obvious scorer here, but the odds aren't fantastic. Sam Vokes is also expected to start in attack and is due a goal .Back Sam Vokes to score at 5/4 with Bet365.
