Monday - Day 1

Tip #1

Win Single - Points Per Line 2.5 - Total Points 2.5

Bookmakers

Bet365 Generally

Selection #1

15:10 Bath Spa - Bahuna Acha @ 2/1 - Lost

Bahuta Acha did us a big favour when a heavily backed (9/1 into 7/2) and easy winner at Catterick last time. And he did that despite another slow break. He’ll handle the ground and the slight step up in trip should bring the best out of him. Recommendation 2.5pts WIN 2/1+

Tuesday - Day 2

Tip #1

Eachway Single - Points Per Line 1.0 - Total Points 2.0

Selection #1

19:40 Kempton Park - Summerghand @ 10/1 - Placed +1

Summerghand has been in good form of late and he was a little unfortunate at Redcar last time when running out of room late on after travelling into the race well. That was in a lower grade than this but the form has been franked with both the winner and the fourth winning since. Summerghand is one from one on the AW, has a good draw and jockey Danny Tudhope rides this track well. Recommendation 1pt EW 10/1

Tip #2

Win Single - Points Per Line 2.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Ladbrokes Coral Generally

Selection #1

16:00 Ayr - Vindicator @ 6/1 - Lost

Vindicator looks overpriced here. The favourite Brandon Castle was impressive in his last victory and has won four out of his last five but the latest was just three days ago and this will be his fourth run in 24 days; he’s been running over trips of 14f and on very bad ground last time out; it’s highly possible that this could be one race too many. He should also get taken on for the lead by Sebastian’s Wish which will complicate things further for the even money shot. Vindicator also comes here on the back of a win; he beat Wolfcatcher Jack who was seeking a fourtimer. Vindicator should prefer this return to a more galloping track, won’t mind the ground and because he’s a 3yo taking on his elders he gets a handy 6lb allowance from 7 of his 8 rivals. Recommendation 2pts WIN 6/1+ (7/1 Coral, 13/2 Ladbrokes)

Tip #3

Win Single - Points Per Line 2.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Bet365 Bet Victor Ladbrokes

Selection #1

18:40 Kempton Park - Rotherhithe @ 7/2 - Lost

Four horses are vying for favouritism here and I believe Rotherhithe should be the clear market leader based on her good second at Redcar last time. She was a relatively unfancied 12/1 shot, wasn’t the best away from the stalls but cruised through the race and was going so well that her jockey was forced to go for home a little too far out. Unfortunately for her, she got a bit lonely out in front, ran around a bit (green) and got nailed late by the odds on favourite. There was clear water back to the third and Rotherhithe was the best horse in that race. If she is just a touch sharper for that run she will take some beating here. Recommendation 2pts WIN 7/2

Tip #4

Win Single - Points Per Line 1.5 - Total Points 1.5

Bookmakers

Bet365 Bet Victor Coral

Selection #1

16:30 Ayr - Jay Kay @ 5/1 - Won +7.5

Jay Kay was a very good second with some good yardsticks well beaten off at Carlisle on heavy ground last time. He now comes to his favourite track and is reunited with Joey Haynes (Haynes has ridden him to 5 of his 7 wins and all 4 of his Ayr wins). He can win from the front or behind. Recommendation 1.5pts WIN 5/1

Tip #5

Win Single - Points Per Line 2.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Selection #1

20:25 Dundalk - British Art @ 3/1 - Lost

The case for British Art is a simple one. Last time out he was backed from an overnight price of 40/1 into 15/2, the result never looked in doubt, his rivals were strung out like washing in behind and he achieved a very fast time for the grade. He’s only gone up 5lb in the handicap and top jock Pat Smullen takes over in the saddle. Recommendation 2pts WIN 3/1

Wednesday - Day 3

Tip #1

Win Single - Points Per Line 2.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Skybet Generally

Selection #1

17:05 Nottingham - Maid In India @ 11/4 - Lost

Maid In India was on a hatrick bid when a good second in what is looking a very strong race for the grade over course and distance last time. The winner won easily next time out from an 8lb higher mark and is now rated a massive 18lb higher; the third and fourth both also won next time out. It could also be argued that Maid In India was racing on the worst part of the track that day as well. She is lightly raced and could prove to be a grade above these. Recommendation 2pts WIN 11/4+ (3/1 sky)

Tip #2

Eachway Single - Points Per Line 1.5 - Total Points 3.0

Bookmakers

Ladbrokes Betfair Generally

Selection #1

21:10 Kempton Park - The Way You Dance @ 10/1 - Lost

Forget the defeat of The Way You Dance when heavily backed at Wolverhampton last time, he was trapped wide throughout and they went a very slow gallop which led to a sprint finish, which also didn’t suit. Remarkably, the handicapper has dropped him 3lb since that run. TWYD is stepping up in trip, taking a slight drop in grade and is on a mark 3lb below his last win. He is not a 10/1 shot. Recommendation 1.5pts EW 10/1+ (12/1 Ladbrokes 11/1 betfair)

Thursday - Day 4

Tip #1

Win Single - Points Per Line 2.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Bet365 Bet Victor Paddy Power

Selection #1

20:15 Chelmsford City - Mach One @ 5/1 - Lost

This isn’t the strongest of races and Mach One is worth a bet for multiple reasons; he ran well on his first start for 3 months, his first try on the AW and his first run since joining trainer Archie Watson at Kempton in a better race than this last time. Watson himself is in fantastic form with 5 winners and 2 seconds from his last 12 runners. He also has a great record of 9 winners from 17 runners with horses having their second start since joining him (this is Mach One’s second start for him). Add in a big jockey upgrade with Oissin Murphy taking over in the saddle (Murphy is 9 from 29 when riding for Watson) and everything points to a supersonic run from Mach One. Recommendation 2pts WIN 5/1+ (6/1 bet365)

Tip #2

Eachway Single - Points Per Line 1.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Bet365 Bet Victor

Selection #1

17:35 Lingfield Park - Burren View Lady @ 12/1 - Lost

To say Burren View Lady is a good traveller is an understatement; she’s been sent to the UK mainland 4 times, won 3 (once over course and distance) and come second on the other occasion. Her two recent poor runs are easily excused (wrong trip and bad ground), she’s a better horse on the AW and she hasn’t run on that since early May. Recommendation 1pt EW 12/1

Tip #3

Eachway Single - Points Per Line 1.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Bet365 Bet Victor

Selection #1

14:55 Lingfield Park - Fulham @ 14/1 - Placed +2.5

I can understand why bookmakers have priced Fulham up at 14/1; his latest two runs have been uninspiring. However, he has only had four starts, the latest two of which have come on turf (good to soft and soft); his best form has come in his first two starts which were on the AW; his breeding suggests that he is better on the AW; He now returns to the AW; without the two turf blots he would never be a double figure price. With 14/1 on offer we don’t need to be right very often. Recommendation 1pt EW 14/1

Friday - Day 5

Tip #1

Eachway Single - Points Per Line 1.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Selection #1

15:10 Ascot - Dark Power @ 14/1 - Lost

Dark Power was a convincing winner twice and then turned over when sent off the 7/4 favourite for the greys race at Newmarket. There are a couple of major reasons to excuse that defeat and once excused 14/1 looks massive for this race. He was turned out quickly (only 6 days after his latest win) because it was very good prizemoney for the grade and also his last chance to squeak into a 0-85; that could’ve been against him. He was also drawn highest of all in stall 13; there was a strong bias on the July course and low numbers were favoured all season (Dark Power raced on the worst part of the track without cover). Despite those two big negatives Dark Power was only beaten 2 ½ lengths. He comes here off a decent break, will handle the ground and can continue his progression. Recommendation 1pt EW 14/1

Tip #2

Win Single - Points Per Line 2.0 - Total Points 2.0

Selection #1

20:45 Chelmsford City - Celtic Artisan @ 8/1 - Lost

We backed Celtic Artisan at Wolves last time; he was well positioned and travelling nicely when getting carved up on the rail, losing his chance. Prior to that, he’d been an eye-catcher on turf at Thirsk. He’s been ridden 6 times by today’s pilot Oissin Murphy; Murphy has won 3 times on him, twice here. I expect him to be ridden aggressively. Irish raider Paved With Gold looks the main danger. Recommendation 2pts WIN 8/1

Tip #3

Win Single - Points Per Line 2.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Selection #1

18:15 Chelmsford City - Another Day Of Sun @ 5/1 - Lost

Another Day Of Sun is much better than the bare result of his ¾ length 3rd of 9 at Newcastle last time after encountering plenty of trouble. He is quite exposed for a 2yo but that was his first run since being gelded and his first run at Newcastle. It’s possible that he improved for the switch to Newcastle but it is more likely the improvement came from the gelding operation. ADOS also has a big jockey upgrade with SDS taking over in the saddle. If he lets us down here, put him in your notebook and back him when he next shows up at Newcastle. Recommendation 2pts WIN 5/1

Saturday - Day 6

Tip #1

Win Single - Points Per Line 3.0 - Total Points 3.0

Selection #1

19:45 Wolverhampton - Song Maker @ 2/1 - Lost

Song Maker was given a ridiculous ride by James Doyle at Chelmsford last time; trapped at least 4 wide throughout, with no cover and very wide off the last bend; it was a huge effort by the horse to mange to run on into a 1 length 3rd of 10 and the race was run in the fastest time of the night. Song Maker comes into a very similar race from just 2lb higher and from a better draw; she looks a great bet even at a short price. Recommendation 3pts WIN 2/1

Tip #2

Eachway Single - Points Per Line 1.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Bet365

Selection #1

15:20 Redcar - John Kirkup @ 14/1 - Lost

John Kirkup has been in good form all season and is worth a bet at the prices here. He’ll like the ground, he’s one of the better horses in the race on official figures, he’s well drawn (low numbers tend to be favoured at Redcar) and he’s draw right next door to the most likely early leader Foxtrot Lady, so he should get a good tow into the race. There is some 16/1 around. I’ve recommended 14/1 with bet365 because they are paying ¼ odds 5 places. Whatever you do, be sure to get at least 4 places. Recommendation 1pt EW 14/1

Selection #1

15:50 Newmarket - Elysium Dream @ 10/1 - Won +12.5

Elysium Dream has been an eye-catcher the last twice; two starts back at Newmarket she ran a big race to finish third after racing on the wrong side and last time at Donny she stumbled leaving the gates and met interference several times early in the race, dropping her to the rear. It was a remarkable effort to finish a closing 6th of 22 by the line. This race is easier and the better ground should suit. Recommendation 1pt EW 10/1

Tip #4

Eachway Single - Points Per Line 1.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Skybet Bet Victor Paddy Power

Selection #1

16:45 Ascot - Evergate @ 9/1 - Placed +1.25

Evergate deserves another chance after being drawn out of it in the Portland handicap at Donny last time (drawn 4 and high numbers dominated). Prior to that he was a very good third in a better race than this at York. Ascot should suit his style of running and Gerrard Mosse rides for the first time. Recommendation 1pt EW 9/1

Tip #5

Win Single - Points Per Line 2.0 - Total Points 2.0

Bookmakers

Ladbrokes Generally Paddy Power

Selection #1

17:05 Redcar - Dream Machine @ 3/1 - Lost

The form of Dream Machine’s third at Ripon now looks very strong after the winner and second both won next time. On the back of that Dream Machine was backed off the boards at Epsom last time and won with plenty in hand despite hanging badly down the camber in the home straight. He’s been put up 5lb for that win and moves into a slightly stronger race but if he arrives in the same form he will be difficult to beat. Recommendation 2pts WIN 3/1+ (10/3 Lads, Paddy)

Tip #6

Eachway Trixie - Points Per Line 0.125 - Total Points 1.0 - Placed +.3

Selection #1

16:35 Uttoxeter - Audacious Plan @ 3/1 - Lost

Audacious Plan looked like he might turn into a very nice chaser before going completely the wrong way for previous trainer Rebecca Curtis. Dr Richard Newland has a great record with his new recruits and Audacious Plan is a perfect candidate to be freshened up by the Dr. If he get can get him back to anything like his best he will be difficult to beat off a mark of just 118. Jockey Sam Twiston-Davies rides this track well and more than half of the rides he has for the Dr win or place (133 from 259). Recommendation 2pts WIN 3/1
