Ecuador vs Brazil Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
With the first round of European Qualifiers looming, Ecuador and Brazil are preparing to play their seventh games of the South American qualifying campaign. Below is our match preview, prediction and betting tips.
Game: Ecuador vs Brazil
Venue: Estadio Olimpico, Quito
Kick off: Thursday 1st September, 10pm
Brazil are Ecuador are both winless through the two qualifying games they’ve played in 2016, but it’s the hosts of this game that are in far better shape overall. Brazil are playing catch up after a questionable start, but they have to opportunity to bridge the gap when they face the team joint top of the qualification stage here.
Ecuador have taken 13 points from their five games having compiled a 4-1-1 record, whilst Brazil have failed to win in four of their six games. The selecao threw away a 2-0 lead against Uruguay, before having to overcome the same deficit to take a point from Paraguay. Their defence has been rather unconvincing thus far.
Ecuador have already beaten Uruguay and Argentina in their campaign, whilst Brazil have failed to win any of their three away games so far. The hosts may have hit a wall though, dropping points to Paraguay before being outclassed 3-1 against Colombia.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Hosts Ecuador are favourites to win this game at best odds of 6/4 with Boylesports but despite the current form, I’m uncomfortable with that. The draw is available at 9/4 with Paddy Power whilst Brazil are priced at 2/1 with Betfred.
We’ve witnessed Brazil both surrender a 2-0 lead and over turn a 2-0 deficit. They’re capable of scoring goals but they’ve been allowing too many at the same time. A 1-1 draw with Argentina was a good result, but Ecuador went one better by beating them 2-0. The signs are that the hosts may be slowing down but they’re still a very dangerous opposition.
Ecuador have registered 12 goals so far and no team has stopped them from scoring as of yet. Their 90th minute strike against Colombia was barely consolation but it kept Ecuador’s scoring record going. Their games have now featured 19 goals, which is the exact same number scored during Brazil’s games.
Despite the form I’m just not comfortable with the hosts being a clear favourite. Brazil can take at least a point here and at some point their form will improve. Given the score lines these sides have produced so far, I think a safer bet is to offer Over 2.5 as our free betting tip at best odds of 11/10 with Bet365.
The away side has not won this fixture, but two of the last four meetings have ended in a draw. I fear that the hosts have over performed so far and could fade away. Our correct score predictions 2-2 at best odds of 16/1 with William Hill.
Felipe Caicedo has been the main man amongst contributions from many for Ecuador. The man who is also his country’s penalty taker is priced at 2/1 with Betfair to score in this game.
