Fedex St Jude Classic & Lyoness Open 2017 Betting Tips

Gary Priestley - 07-Jun-2017

Another frustrating week on the golf front with our betting tips Li & Smith both making the cut at the Nordea Masters but were always just that few shots out of contention. Jordan Smith finished 4 under for the week yet played the back 9 in 7 over par for the week. On the PGA tour last weeks fancy Jason Duffner who lets be honest had a terrible week missing the cut bounced right back to form with rounds of 65-65 for the first 2 days to have a 5 shot lead. Day 3 he had a howler shooting 5 over and started the last 18 holes 4 shots of Daniel Summerhays lead but as is the norm with the PGA tour when you have someone leading who hasn't won before the pressure gets to them very quickly and with various leaders throughout the last 9 holes and 2 rain stoppages it was Duffner who finally saw it out best with a 3 shot victory. Our top player was Matt Kuchar who finished T4th for a 33-1 place. Tony Finau was disappointing only finishing T40th whilst Keegan Bradley had a shocking 2nd round shooting 7 over to miss the cut. Our Top 10 stabs JFuryk missed the cut but Ricky Barnes once again frustrates with 3 good rounds but again that one poor round for a T22nd finish.

This week we have the Lyoness Open from Austria & St Jude Classic from Memphis on the PGA tour.

FEDEX ST JUDE CLASSIC 2017 Betting Tips

Seung-Yul Noh 100-1 SJ 6 places 1pt ew
2016 T7th
2015 T3rd
2012 T7th
Turned professional in 2008 and now World ranked no.194 he has 1 career win in 2014 with 103 cuts made from 162 tour events. He's won over $6.6m with 12 Top 10 finishes, his best so far in 2017 was a T5th at Wells Fargo plus T8th at both Sanderson Farm and Pebble Beach. He does have a tendancy to have a very good opening round which is why I'm also backing him for day 1 leader as 9 of his 23 events his best round was his first.

Shawn Stefani 200-1 Coral 7 places 1pt ew
2016 T9th
2015 MC
2014 T63rd
2013 T7th
Turned pro in 2005 and world rank of 444 he has yet to win a PGA tour event but has 9 Top 10 finishes and made 69 of his 112 cuts amassing a career earnings of $4.6m. T10th is his best finish in 2017 but he does have a good record here.

Kevin Tway 66-1 Coral 7 places 1pt ew
Turned pro in 2011 world ranked 188, made 21 of his 49 cuts earning $1.3m with 3 Top 10 finishes and a best of 3rd place twice at Valero Texas and Zurich Classic New Orleans plus a T5th at Wells Fargo

1st Round Leader Betting Tips

Seung-Yul Noh 50-1 1ptew 1/4 1-2-3-4-5 BV & PP
Shawn Stefani 125-1 1pt ew 1/4 1-2-3-4-5 BV & PP

I also had Kyle Stanley 33-1, Phil Mickleson 20-1 & Brooks Koepka 12-1 on my shortlist for this week as they have tremendous records here but they just seem to short in the betting for me to get excited about them. The field isn't overly strong with Rickie Fowler the 8-1fav and plenty of top names deciding to take the week off ahead of next weeks US Open.

Total Stake 18pts

Good Luck
Gary
