Tuesday - Day 2
Ascot 2.30 Kodi Bear 1pt win @ 12'1 General Price - should like the soft going and is a solid yard stick - Lost
Ascot 3.05 Mehmas 1pt win @ 8'1 Stan James - looks like this stiff test will suit and has stamina to burn - Lost
Ascot 5.35 Battash 1pt win @ 12'1 General Price - looked a very exciting prospect on debut at Bath - Lost
2.30 - This race has a real international feel about it with the American raider Tepin , two French raiders Ervedya & Esoterique along with a Japanese contender in A Shin Erwin. I think at a big price the A Shin Erwin could outrun his odds considering how well he stays further and on soft ground. But I like the chances of Kodi Bear. He looked very impressive on soft ground at Goodwood last summer and I suspect the run was very mush needed first time up this season
3.05 - A couple of Irish raiders head the market in the race, but I am not sure how strong the Irish 2 year old form is this year and I would pass them over. I am however keen on Mehmas who looks a strong staying 2 year old who was outdone by the drop in trip last time out. At a big price Medieval should relish conditions and Yalta who looks a big strong type could be battling it out for the places.
3.40 - Meccas Angle looks to have her ideal conditions and should be hard to beat. Waady who always seems to run his race and the likeable and improving Profitable could be the ones to chase her home.
4.20 - The Gurkha looked hugely impressive last time out in France, but what that form is worth looks open to question. Galileo Gold looks the solid each way option given his performances in the English and Irish Guineas.
5.00 - This race looks very hard to solve. Sempre Medici will like the soft going. Hassle looks and interest runner given how well he won on debut for the ultra shrewd Newland yard and those two are my best guesses.
5.35 Big City Dreamin looks an intriguing runner for the Ward yard, but I am not sure soft going will suit. Again Irish raiders head the market , but as stated earlier I am not sure how strong their 2 year old form is this season. I am very keen on the chances of Battaash who was hugely impressive on debut at Bath and given how much he did wrong in the stalls. One would hope the stalls antics were down to greenness, but he has a huge engine and I would hope he should but in a bold showing.
Wednesday - Day 3
Ascot 2.30 Ibn Malik 1pt win @ 11'1 Paddy Power - likeable sort who really tries and could be hard to pass - Lost
Ascot 3.40 Blond Me 1pt win @ 16'1 General Price - Lost
Ascot 5.00 Portage 1pt win @ 11'1 General Price - Won +11
2.30 - I have been taken with the battling qualities of Ibn Malik in all his runs last season and this and he was only just beaten by the 2000 Guineas and yesterdays winner Galileo Gold last season at Goodwood. There are dangers abound like Castle Harbour, Forge and Thikriyaat who both look like they have plenty more to show. But they will have to be tough to get the better of Ibn Malik
3.05 - Its hard to know what to make of the French raider Al Jomhrah and the Ward trained Lady Aurelia, so I would pass them over. Kachess was very impressive the other week and would be my by best guess in a tough to solve contest.
3.40 Blond Me looks an improving Filly to me and ran some blinders last season considering she only made the course at three. I think the form of short price favourite Usherettes win last time out is weak enough and I would be against her today.
4.20 A Shin Hikari looked a monster last time out and he could be hard to beat. Found is always there or there about's in her races and My Dream Boat did not get the best of trips when well behind the favourite last time out and could be the one to follow the favourite home.
5.00 Portage ran two good races at Ascot last season and looked to have returned in fine form when winning last time out and won't mind the drop in trip. Donncha likes soft going so should be in the mix and Balty Boys is on a good mark now days. But I do like the chances of Portage.
5.35 Anamba looked very good at Navan a couple of weeks ago and should have plenty more to offer. Make Fast could give her Majesty the Queen a fair shout and Raaqy looks likely to appreciate the ground conditions. Anamba probably just shades it for me.
Ascot 4.20 Fun Mac 1/2 pt ew @ 40'1 Skybet ( 5 places ) looked an improved stayer last season and put up some good performances in France in October. Interesting that connections are starting off in this and one thing is for sure he will stay. - Lost
Ascot 5.35 Harrison 1pt win @ 14'1 General Price - takes a drop in grade from a decent run last time out and with the cut in the ground and step up in trip in his favour he looks interesting - Lost
2.30 I was very much taken with the debut win of Silver Line at Nottingham. He looked all quality that day and despite the ground being a bit different this time up he should cope with it judged on pedigree. The are plenty of dangers as always, at a price Plata O Plomo looked impressive on debut despite still looking a bit green a babyish before and during the race, if he has toughened up from that run he could run well.
3.05 Hawkbill is going the right way and started off this season just as good as he finished 2015 and is my best guess in a tight looking contest.
3.40 It is always interesting when the Gosden yard throw one straight in to Group company after a maiden win and that is the case with Sovereign Parade. She was very strong going through the line at Salisbury and I doubt a bit softer ground will pose any problems.
4.20 Order Of St George aside there is plenty of each play to be had in the race. At a price I like the look of Fun Mac who ran well in 2 decent races last season in France and will definitely get the trip. The favourite looks very strong on form, but with Skybet offering 5 places Fun Mac could offer decent reward.
5.00 This looks an impossible race to solve and I could list about 10 selections that I think could go well. But Pacodali could be interesting back on soft ground and is worth a second look ew.
5.35 I thought Harrison could be interesting taking a drop in class from group company back in to a handicap. The step up in trip and softer going should suit also.
Friday - Day 5
Ascot 3.40 Chiekeljack 1pt win @ 10'1 Bet365 - the form of his win last time out looks very strong and condition will be no problem - Lost
Ascot 5.00 Kings Fete 1pt win @ 10'1 Bet365 - interesting that connection have kept the faith for so long and could be on a very good mark - Lost
2.30 Queen Kindly created a very good impression when hacking up at Catterick as is by the current super sire Frankel. It was not what she beat on her debut, but how she did it and there is plenty more to come from her.
3.05 Choreographer got no sort of clear passage last time out and looks to have plenty of potential still to show.
3.40 Cheikeljack won what looks a very good contest form wise last time out. Conditions should be very much in his favour.
4.20 This looks vert tricky to solve and my bets guess is the French trained Qemah who was unlucky to have a stumble at a crucial stage in the French Guineas last time out and could reverse form with Nathra
5.00 Kings Fete - interesting that connection are still keeping the faith with this fellow. The comeback run looked to be no more than a prep for this
5.35 Ebediyin looks interesting take the step up in trip judged on pedigree and looks a solid choice
Saturday - Day 8
Ascot 5.00 Flash Fire 1/2 pt ew @ 18'1 Skybet ( 5 places ) with the ground drying out somewhat and the ability to handle the track and big field handicaps things could fall in to place - Lost
2.30 Churchill is very well regarded at Ballydoyle as is supposedly their best bet of the meeting according to the grapevine from Ireland. But at a bigger price I would take a second look at Devils Bridge who finished off very strongly on debut and will like this decent test
3.05 Educate ran a promising race first time up this season and should be in the mix in this wide open contest
3.40 Beautiful Romance looks to be very progressive all ground seems to come alike to her, so there seems no reason she she not be making some sort of impact in this
4.20 Gold Fun looks a fascinating contender from Hong Kong and Holler from Australia. Both look worth a chance against some average European contenders at this level.
5.00 Flashfire has impressed me with his progress this year and with the ground drying somewhat and the ability to handle the course and a big field handicap, he looks to have plenty in his favour.
5.35 Sandro Botticelli looks to have been crying out for this sort of extreme trip and with Dettori booked he could be in with a fair shout
Sunday - Day 7
Pontefract 3.40 Sweeping Up 1pt win @ 9'2 - Lost
