Day 1

3.40 Newcastle, Ajman Prince - Lost
1pt win @ 3.25 Bet365, 10Bet, SkyBet, SportPesa, Betfred
Ajman Prince had been off the track for 148 days when racing here over 1m 4f 20 days ago. He ran a race full of promise travelling well until lack of fitness took its toll. He was only beaten 5.5 Lengths and is 6lb better off with the winner Loud and Clear and 4lb better off with Lopes Dancer. Ajman Prince should strip fitter and is expected to appreciate the step back to 2 miles a distance he last ran at back in 2016 over this track and recorded one of his best speed figures in a better class race when finishing a good 2nd to the Godolphin horse Good Run this was an even better performance than it appeared as Ajman Prince was squeezed for room several times in the final 2 furlongs of that race. He ran off 78 that day so off 77 this lightly raced sort must have every chance of landing this

Positives

Has 2 wins on this surface
Ran a near career best rating on his only try over this course and distance in 2016 in a much better race
Jockey and trainer combination have a 25% strike rate in the last 365 days

2.45 Catterick, Sharp Response - Won
1pt win @ 3.00 Betfair SB, BetVictor, Bet365, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Boylesports, Marathon, Betway, RedZone, Smarkets
Sue Smith has won this race for the last 3 seasons and there is every chance she can take the race again with Sharp Response who takes a drop in class having competed well in a listed race and a class 2 contest last time out. Sharp Response like everything else in the race is untried over this trip of 3m 6f but having won this race the last 3 times I am sure the trainer believes he will stay he also won over 3m 2.5f at Carlisle which is a stiff track where he stayed on strongly winning easily. Ground Conditions will be fine and he acts on the track and although he has to carry 11st 12lb the horse has carried this weight to victory in the past and goes into the race with a big chance

Positives:
Trainer has won the last 3 runnings of this race
Ground conditions and track will suit
Drops in Class

7.25 Chelmsford, Your Band - Won
1pt win @ 3.25 Bet365, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Betway, Betfred, RedZone
We were with this one last time out and whilst he stayed on strongly as expected he failed to reel in the outsider of the field. He carries his head a little awkwardly at times but there is nothing un-genuine about him his attitude is good. This is actually a weaker race in my opinion and off the same mark I am happy to give him another chance to get back in the winners enclosure

Positives:
Trainer in good recent form 2 wins from last 8 runners
Races off the same mark but this looks less demanding
Jockey has a 16% SR over the last year for Trainer over last YearDaily Summary

1pt win @ 5.50 Betfair SB, BetVictor, Bet365, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, Ladbrokes, SportPesa, Unibet, PaddyPower, Betway, Betfred, RedZone
William Haggas is in excellent form with 4 winners from 8 runners and his record at this track over the last two years is excellent boasting a 36% strike rate so his runner and forecast favourite Sweet Nature is sure to be well fancied however, the horse has not shown me enough to warrant it being favourite but I accept is still open to improvement but I want to take it on and the one I like is recent Southwell winner Dashing Poet who is up just 1lb for that narrow victory. Dashing Poet however does have winning form here via a course and distance win in October 2017 off a mark that is just one pound lower than today. This is a similar class race that she won and her trainer Mrs H Main also comes here in good form with a 29% Strike rate in the last 30 days and like William Haggas she also boasts a good record at the track at 21%. She looks set to run a decent race and could be value with the Haggas runner in the race

3.00 Warwick, Step Back - Lost
1pt win @ 7.50 Betfair SB, WilliamHill, PaddyPower
Last years Bet365 Gold Cup Handicap Chase winner the lightly raced Step Back made a pleasing return back in October at Chepstow a race won by the Young Master. This was not a bad run as he was upside the leader 3 out and only weakened after the 2nd from home probably due to fitness and I noticed that his jockey that day was not hard on him once he knew he could not win the race. He should strip fitter for this race and will appreciate the step back up in trip. Races of this type here are normally run at a strong pace and this should play to his stamina strengths having shown this when winning the Bet365 Gold cup. Warwick is also a sharp track which he wont mind having won at Fakenham and Ludlow both sharp tracks. It is also noticeable that the Cheekpieces that were on when winning the Bet365 and were not on last time are back on today. This will not be easy off a mark of 149 as this race tends to go to something lower down the ratings and with a light weight but this year could be an exception as 14 of the last 16 runnings of this race have been run on Soft or Heavy ground which would no doubt suit the lower weight carriers the good ground likely to be encountered here could buck the trends.Everything seems to be pointing to a strong run

1pt win @ 5.00 Betfair SB, Bet365, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, PaddyPower, Betway, Betfred, RedZone
Dollar Value catches the eye here having run well over 6f at this track on news years day. He led into the home straight until headed 2f out but then stayed on again to take second place just 3/4 L behind the winner Bellevarde. Dollar Value’s only win from 12 runs has been over 7f at Chelmsford so the step back up to that distance and the drop in class should see him go close off the same mark. Joe Fanning who was on last time out and when he won is in the saddle again he has a very good record for the trainer who himself does well at the track

Positives

Takes a drop in class
Career best figure was at todays trip
Joe Fanning is 10 wins from 20 rides for Robert Cowell in the last 2 years -50% strike rate
Trainer has 26% strike rate at the track last two years

5.15 Wolverhampton, Very Honest - Lost
1pt win @ 3.25 Betfair SB, BetVictor, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, SportPesa, PaddyPower, Marathon, Betfred, RedZone, Smarkets
Very honest has done very little wrong in her last 2 races coming second on both occasions when failing to hang on both times. Adam Kirby has been booked to ride which is a big plus as he is inform and does well at the track. Very honest gets to run off the same handicap mark as before and has cheekpieces on for the first time the only unknown is the track but her sires progeny tend to act well here so I see no reason why she will not handle the track. Time to reason looks a threat having run well recently but has not won since 2016 and both wins have been at 7f

Positives

Booking of Strong Jockey Adam Kirby (20% SR at track last 2 years)
Sires progeny have won 18% of races on this surface over the last 12 months
Runs off the same mark as last time when beaten just a short head

2.40 Lingfield, Clayton - Lost
1pt win @ 3.25 BetVictor, 10Bet, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Boylesports, Betway, Betfred, RedZone
I am going to give Clayton another chance he did very little wrong until making a bad mistake at the second last despite that mistake he whittled the leaders lead to under 1L and is interesting off the same mark but dropped in class. I would have preferred slightly more rain but he handles Good to soft so he should go well on a track he likes. Potters Midnight looks a big threat and he would worry me if fit and ready but he has been off the track since May so there is every reason to think he will not be quite spot on today.

Down in Class after a fine effort last time out
1lb above last winning mark

1pt win @ 3.00 BetVictor, Bet365, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Unibet, Betway, Betfred
Chica De La Noche looked a good winner last time and the race has been franked by the 3rd Astrospeed who won well today. He has winning form at this track so I am not concerned about the surface and whilst Adam Kirby is not on today Nicky Mackay has won on the horse before. The 2lb rise seems fair considering the manner in which he won and whilst this is a step up in class looking at the official ratings it does not look that much stronger on paper than the class 6 he won last time out

8.00 Kempton, Clovelly Bay - Lost
1pt win @ 10.00 Betfair SB, Bet365, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Unibet, PaddyPower, Betway, BlackType, RedZone
I have only backed this horse once before back in December 2016 when backed back from 20/1 into 10/1 that was in fact the last time he won but is a horse I always like to keep an eye on. He has dropped massively in the ratings but has been catching my eye over the last couple of months. First of all ignore the last run as he missed the start and lost many lengths which is unusual for him and was never able to get into the race, that said under hands and heels he was passing horses in the home straight and although only 9th of the 13 runners he was only 5L behind the winner. The run prior to this at Newcastle was a fine effort leading at the 1f pole before weakening late on. His run over course and distance in November in a better class race off a mark of 62 was also another decent run travelling well and throwing down a challenge in the straight finishing 5th of 13 beaten around 3L. It has been a while since he won that race off 70 but with there being glimpses of a possible return to form his mark of 55 looks very appealing especially as he now has the 7lb claimer who last won on him back in the saddle. The race is weaker than anything he has been contesting recently so I am hoping off this mark he can return to winning form

2.25 Wincanton, Potters Corner - Lost
1pt win @ 6.50 Betfair SB, BetVictor, Bet365, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, SportPesa, 888Sport, PaddyPower, Betway, Betfred, RedZone, SportNation, Smarkets
This horse had a long time on the sidelines and returned to the track after 665 days when making his return at Exeter back in November when never featuring. He was then sent to Sandown in December where he showed much more promise disputing the lead until the 11th before blundering and eventually being pulled up. He then bounced back to form in some style on Boxing day at this track over 3m 1f taking up the running at the 3rd fence and then making all to win staying on strongly. The win coincided with the Trainers horses returning to form and the run is still continuing with 2 winners from 7 runners in the last 7 days. Potters Corner has 3m 2.5f to contest today but he stayed on strongly to win last time and I see no reason why the extra distance will be an issue. There also does not appear any out an out front runner in the race in fact there does not look much pace in the race at all so I can envisage that they may just let Potters Corner bowl along again and an easy lead could be an advantage. He is up 7lb for that win but he is lightly race considering he is 9 and there may well be a bit of improvement to come. With the exception of a slight mistake 2 out his jumping last time was very good and the leap at the last suggested he had plenty left.

Positives

Trainer in form
Horse still unexposed over fences
Won twice on Good ground but wont mind any rain
Jockey ridden horse twice 1 win and 1 Place

Mr Mac has been a revelation since having wind surgery winning 3 of his last 4 races the last two being over course and distance in recent months. Both times he travelled well in the race coming off the pace to win and last time off a 3lb higher mark he swept through the field and won going away at the finish and despite having to carry another 6lb today he must have every chance to complete the hat-trick. Statistically horses in handicaps winning their last 2 races at Lingfield that return to the track over the same course distance and the same class and carrying and extra 6lb or more completed the hat-trick nearly 69% of the time (11 wins from 16) so whilst it does not happen often completing a hat-trick of wins at this track is statistically good. 69% represents odds of 4/9 so at 5/2 he has to be good value. Weloof and Adam Kirby look the main danger Kirby is a jockey that only seems to win when he is not riding one of mine but he looks the danger here but in this form I strongly fancy Mr Mac to win again. I am going full stake on this as for me it is strong value I had thought of reducing my stake to 2pts the way our luck is at the moment but I have agreed to continue as is and not to change my staking so its 3pts win Mr Mac.

12.50 Lingfield, Global Wonder - Won
1pt win @ 5.00 BetVictor, Bet365, 10Bet, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Unibet, Marathon, Betway, Betfred
Global Wonder was favourite over course and distance last time out and was always going well before finding his passage shut off coming in to the home straight Martin Harley switched his mount inside and he ran on well but Mark Johnstons horse Jafetica ridden by Joe Fanning got a clear run on the outside and stole the advantage which Global Wonder could never pull back. Global Wonder only has a 1lb more here in a race of similar strength and with a better passage I would expect Global Wonder to get his head in front once again

6.15 Wolverhampton, Blazon - Won
1pt win @ 4.50 Bet365, SkyBet, WilliamHill
I am a big fan of Your Band who has been running well of late and whilst he won by 14 lengths last time out it was as I pointed out when tipping him was a very weak and off a 9lb higher mark in a race that is clearly stronger than last time I have to be against him at the odds. The one I like is Kim Baileys Blazon who stepped up in trip last time out and looked the winner from a long way out moving smoothly into contention 3f out. He seemed to hang when asked to win the race and it took a little while for Joe Fanning to get him going but once he did he ran on strongly in the end. That was a much stronger contest than the race Your Band won and I would expect there will be a bit more to come and with just 3lb extra he could well overturn the short favourite

7.15 Wolverhampton, Nefarious - Won
2pt win @ 3.75 Betfair SB, BetVictor, PaddyPower
Black Medick won well last time out despite meeting trouble in running but Nefarious went in to my notebook last time out when finishing 4th to No Nonsense a winner since and with the 3rd also winning the form looks strong. The pace was good and over the 6f trip Nefarious got a little outpaced and was doing all his best work inside the final furlong without Fran Berry doing to hard on him. The step up in trip looks sure to suit and would expect there is plenty of improvement to come and he is strongly fancied to take this

1.10 Exeter, Trans Express - Lost
1pt win @ 5.00 Betfair SB, 10Bet, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, PaddyPower, Boylesports, Marathon, Betway, Betfred, RedZone
Trans Express has been very consistent of late with form figures 2113. He has won 4 times at the track and ran well in defeat last time out when trying to make all. Lucy Gardner kicked for home entering the straight and made a real race of it until weakening after the second last and there is no doubt he will find this drop in class much easier. Has to carry has 11st 11lb here but Lucy takes off 3lb giving 11-9 to carry which is the exact weight he carried when winning at Leicester in December so weight is no issue. Has won on every going except good to soft but handles it fine and I expect him to make the running or race prominent. There is plenty of pace in the race but this horse does not need to lead and is capable of sitting just behind if need be. The horse has plenty of grit and with conditions to suit must go close

4.10 Newcastle, Stargazer - Lost
1pt win @ 3.25 Bet365, 10Bet, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, RedZone
Stargazer ran out an impressive winner over course and distance last time out in what was a decent contest. Always travelling well he quickened well having looked the winner some way out. The second is fairly useful and also behind was Watersmeet who is a fair yardstick in these races whilst also behind was Cosmelli who reopposes here but I can see no reason why that one could possibly reverse the form. This is a decent contest with a good prize but in my opinion the opposition does not look as strong as he encountered last time out and although he has 9-12 to carry he went close in a handicap over course and distance back in March last year when beaten a neck carrying 9-11 so I dont see that as a problem here. The trainer is in excellent form with 5 winners from 18 runners (28% SR) and I feel Stargazer should be able to follow up. Loud and Clear looks the main danger getting weight but this is a big step up in class

7.15 Kempton, Ilhabela Fact - Lost
2pt win @ 4.50 Bet365, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, SportPesa, Unibet, RedZone
We were on Ilhabela Fact last time out when stepped up to 2 miles he came into the straight going well but clearly did not stay the trip. Prior to this run he had won over course and distance a race in which the 2nd and 3rd have come out and won since. The 3rd that day is todays favourite Unit of Assessment who was 6L behind our selection but giving us 3lb in weight. Unit of Assessment did have a wide draw that day so did run a little wide and probably did not get as good a run as our selection so I think he could have finished closer with a better draw. Unit of Assessment has since won over a slightly longer trip from a good draw and off his revised mark is now having to concede 6lb to my selection which is 3lb more than before and he is also again drawn quite wide in 11 so I suspect he may have to run a little wide again and at the current prices even with Adam Kirby on board he represents no value compared to our selection. A bigger danger could be My Brother Mike who also beat Unit of Assessment over course and distance last time running him down inside the final furlong that one is also better off by 4lb with Unit of Assessment. The downside with My Brother Mike is that he has had 21 runs so I doubt there is much improvement to come unlike our selection Ilhabela Fact who has run only 6 times and is still improving and represents good value at the odds

7.45 Kempton, Embers Glow - Won
1pt win @ 5.00 SkyBet, Betway
Embers Glow has yet to win at this track but his last two runs here can be considered unlucky. On the 29th November he was held up and travelling very well when his passage was blocked. By the time he got into the clear the winner Zurrar had already stolen a good lead and whilst Embers Glow stayed on strongly to take 3rd he had no chance with the front two. Whether he would have won with a clear passage on this occasion is open for debate as the winner was good enough win again next time out. Embers Glow then went to Wolverhampton where he had no problem winning beating an inform horse Your Band also a winner since. He returned to Kempton last time out and again travelled very well but approaching the 2 furlong marker he had nowhere to go and had to sit and suffer for a few strides whilst waiting for a gap to appear. Once the gap appeared he was pulled out and stayed on well and was only beaten 1/2 L in the end and has to be considered unlucky. So long as the gaps appear tonight he has to go close off the same mark.

1pt win @ 3.25 Betfair SB, Bet365, PaddyPower
Attain runs off a mark of 65 today so having won this race for the last two seasons off 59 and 65 and also his last win was off 67 so he must have a very good chance of winning this for a 3rd time. He ran a solid race last time when beaten by Pivotal Flame who he meets again but my selection was slow away that day and has no doubt been brought along with this race in mind. Top Amateur Simon Walker takes the ride again and could be hard to beat. I think Archie Watsons other runner Proceed is the danger especially now stepped up in trip but for me Attain would be his first choice and targeted for the race

1pt win @ 3.00 Betfair SB, Bet365, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Coral, SportPesa, PaddyPower, Betway, Betfred, BlackType, RedZone
The race Birchdale won at Warwick has worked out well with the 2nd 3rd and 4th horses coming out and winning. Birchdale travelled sweetly through the race to take up the running 2 out and whilst Barry Geraghty had to stoke him up once he did he went away in the style of a good horse. Plenty of improvement to come and whilst shorter than I had first hoped the 2/1 seems a fair price and I hope to see him win again

3.15 Doncaster, Dingo Dollar - Lost
1pt win @ 3.75 Betfair SB, BetVictor, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Marathon, Betway, Betfred, BlackType, RedZone, 188Bet, SportNation
Alan King knows what it takes to win this race having won it in 2016 and 2017 with Ziga Boy and his runner this time Dingo Dollar who likes to run prominent similar to Ziga Boy must have an excellent chance of landing this. Dingo Dollar finished last season recording a personal best when 2nd to Crosshue Boy in a £64,000 Novice Handicap at Ayr over todays trip of 3 miles and on good ground where he went down by 1/2 L trying to give the winner 12lb in weight,. He reappeared in a hurdle race at Newbury in November where he was far from disgraced in finishing 4th of 14 this was a fine return. Last time out he was back over fences where he was 3rd behind Sizing Tennessee and Elegant Escape in the Grade 3 Ladbrokes Trophy Chase. His trainer was a little concerned about the ground a few days ago stating that he would not run if the ground was too quick but there has been light rain at Doncaster and the good ground should be perfect for him. This is a slight drop in class and off the same mark with conditions to suit he is fancied to win

3.35 Cheltenham, Paisley Park - Won
1pt win @ 6.00 BetVictor, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, Unibet, Betway, BlackType, 188Bet
Did me a favour when winning the Long Walk and I am not going to desert him now even though he will need to improve again but he is open to plenty of improvement and with good vibes coming from the camp about his well being he looks sure to go well. His only poor run was over this course but reading his jockeys comments online we should not read too much in to that. He looks a fair price to continue his run with conditions to suit

1pt win @ 3.50 BetVictor, Bet365, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Unibet, Betfred, RedZone
Slowmo is an interesting running here he finished a good 4th in a fair Nursery at Sandown in August when making the running. He had wind surgery shortly after this race so the clearly felt something was not quite right with him and he then returned to the track on the 27th November in a Class 5 Nursery over 5f at Southwell. Held up in the rear he made progress late on to take 3rd and was not given a hard time but was making up ground under hands and heels. His stamina has to be proven over this trip but the way he was staying on last time out and now dropped in class he looks worth a bet. His trainer does well with this type of runner in claimers especially when placed last time out and then dropped in class which stands at 6 wins from 17 races (35.29%) restrict to 6f races he is 3 from 4 so statistically his runners run well under this criteria

3.15 Lingfield, Clayton - Abandoned

Gary Moore recently mentioned that he felt Clayton was too high in the handicap to do himself any justice and the 4lb rise for running two solid races in defeat should mean he is destined for the places again however, The trainer has put a very good 10lb claimer in Niall Houlihan on board an apprentice that is in good form and has a near 20% strike rate for the trainer. If you take off the 10lb he comes in to this looking well in. He ran second in the race last year off a mark of 120 and with many of his rivals being out of form I cannot desert him having backed him the last two times. Track and ground will suit and I feel he could be tough to beat this time around

1pt win @ 4.50 Betfair SB, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Unibet, PaddyPower, Betway, Betfred, BlackType, RedZone
A maiden handicap is not a race I would normally get involved in and especially as my selection has been narrowly beaten in 5 of her last 6 races. That said I cannot really question her attitude as the losing margins have been so minimal and if you look at her second to Chica De La Noche she looked the winner until that one came from out the clouds to win. Her 2nd to Garth Rocket was similar but with the added fact that Garth Rocket was well weighted with a good apprentice Cieren Fallon on board so although she was beaten that was a fine run. Looking at the speed figures they show that Violets Lads has a serious chance here the only downside is her draw in stall 11 which is not ideal. In her previous runs she normally settles just behind the leaders and whilst there is plenty of straight before the 1st Bend from the 7f start I feel that she probably wont be quite as handy as previous runs but so long as she can be dropped in behind rather than kept wide she certainly boasts the figures to work her way through. There are a couple of unexposed runners Eufemia who should try and set the pace and Minuty who has run okay in her three races plus has a good draw. Reignite is also worth a mention with Adam Kirby on board but I feel with a clean run through the figures suggest Violets Lads can gain a well deserved win

We were with Dashing Poet when second to Lady Alavesa at Lingfield recently and this Course and Distance winner is now of interest after a good run here last time out she was keeping on well and was carried across by the winner and hampered when trying to go past up the rail. The jockey had to take a pull and ended up losing second place because of the interference. This race does not look as strong in my opinion and with Jane Elliot booked to take off 3lb she looks to have a good chance of taking this

1pt win @ 3.75 BetVictor, Bet365, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Betway, Betfred, RedZone
I respect the chances of Another Angel and Archimedes here but I am drawn to Nigg Bay who was not disgraced when 4th in a 14k race at Dundalk over a slightly longer trip. Prior to this his was 5th of 14 at Dundalk over todays trip in a £7k race beaten just 2L. He is being sent over from Ireland to race in a much lower race and should be suited by the track and is taken to win this

Geordielad bounced back to form last time out but that was a weaker race and I am not convinced he will win again. Falcon Cliffs finished second to a nice sort in Blazon last time out so will be expected to go close here but for me he is finding one to good in most of his races. Therefore Lady Makfi who won last time out is my selection and although she was all out to win David Probert gave her plenty of ground to make up having travelled well in mid pack and I think in this smaller field she will be much closer to the leaders. She has won in smaller fields so not an issue and her form in class 6 races over 2 miles plus is 2 from 2

2.25 Sandown, Vinndication - Lost
2pt win @ 2.87 Bet365, SkyBet, WilliamHill
This is a good contest with the likes of Lostintranslation and Defi Du Seuill in the race but I really do think Kim Bailey has a decent chaser here in Vinndication who is unbeaten in his career and after a fine chase debut winning at Carlisle he stepped up to Grade 2 company where his jumping seemed to improve as the race went on. His rivals tried to put down a challenge but he was always too good. He is sure to improve and and is not a flashy horse but is the type of chaser that Kim Bailey does well with and if getting into a good rhythm I can see him being hard to beat with a clear round

7.45 Kempton, Ilhabela Fact - Won
1pt win @ 2.88 Betfair SB, BetVictor, Bet365, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Coral, SportPesa, Unibet, PaddyPower, Marathon, Betway, Betfred
I am going to side again with Ilhabela Fact who did not get the pace he would have preferred last time out and the pace here is likely to questionable again but hopefully they will be more aware to the situation and I would have no problem with him making the running. Whatever happens he will have the assistance of Adam Kirby which is worth a couple of lengths.

After two good handicap wins over course and distance Ornate was not really expected to go as close as he did at Newcastle in a strong conditions race last time out but he produced a great run to get within a neck of Encore D’or who had won at listed class and placed in group company and showed just how much he was improving. Back down to handicap company over Course and Distance where his speed figures are top class Ornate from a good draw should be seriously tough to beat

Mrs Burbidge has had a spell hurdling but has good enough form to win this now returned to the all weather where her form over course and distance reads 152332. Her best ever run was her last All weather race over course and distance back in October when beaten a neck when bumped inside the final furlong and this race looks a fair bit weaker than that run and off just a two pound higher mark and with top jockey Adam Kirby booked she has to have a fine chance

Sue Smith has really got this 11 year old firing on all cylinders winning a handicap seller here in December when quickening away over the final furlong and they duly follow up at the track in January where he never looked like losing traveling really well before staying on well seemingly winning with plenty in hand. A 5lb rise does not look bad and with his Jockey Kane Yeoman gets on really well with the horse and takes off a valuable 10lb. This is a slightly tougher but the form he is in and the manner in which he won last time out I fancy him to complete the hat-trick.

3.40 Naas, Wade Harper - Non Runner
0.75pt each way @ 17.00 PaddyPower, SkyBet, WilliamHill, Unibet
(All paying 6 places)
With the Equine Flu situation I have taken a look at the Irish card at Naas and feel that Wade Harper could have good each way chance in the handicap at 3.40. Wade Harper actually finished 5th in this race last year off a mark of 109 he travelled well throughout the race but after being given every chance 2 out could only keep on at one pace. He gets in this year off a very lenient mark of 95 which is a stone less than last year and carries just 10st 12lb. The horse that finished 3rd that day Thereisnodoubt who is around 6/1 is 22lb worse off with my selection and was only around 7l in front so I feel that Wade Harper is very well in. Add to this that Wade Harper looked to return to form last time out when second over a longer trip when fading late on after trying to make all. The drop back in trip should suit and I would have no problem with him trying to make the running again although in the past he has been held up so either way he has chances.

1pt win @ 6.50 Ladbrokes, WilliamHill, BetVictor, Coral, Betway, Boylesports, 188Bet

I have spent hours dissecting this race via the form book and via past trends and the two the were constant in my notes were Solomn Grundy and Fitzhenry. Both horses met in December in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown where Fitzhenry was 3rd with Solomn Grundy a staying on 4th just a short distance behind. Having watched the re run several times today I felt the better performance was from Solomn Grundy as Fitzhenry took the shorter route along the inside whereas Solomn Grundy travelled the furthest distance by running wide and also made a mistake at the 3rd last which did not help. Tom Scudamore is an interesting Jockey booking as he would know the horse well having been with David Pipe in the horses early career however, Fitzhenry was conceding 11lb in weight to Solomn Grundy that day whereas tomorrow he is receiving 1lb putting him 12lb better off which for me puts him firmly back in the picture. I really cannot split the two so will play 1pt to win on both runners.

2pt win @ 3.50 BetVictor, Bet365, Ladbrokes, Coral, 10Bet, SkyBet, WilliamHill, SportPesa, Unibet, Marathon, Betway, Betfred, RedZone
has yet to win at this trip but has put in two great runs over course and distance within the last 12 months to suggest he can finally get his head in front. Back in August in a higher grade he was hassled for the lead for most of the race but battled gamely all the way to the line and was only beaten a head in the end. His last run over C/D was only last month where he was drawn in stall 8 and did not get a prominent enough position from his outside draw and was shut off at the first bend causing him to run wide. He did however battle on well down the home straight finishing a credible 3rd off a 3lb higher mark than he has today. Last time out at Newcastle in a 5f contest he was keeping on well when 5th 2L behind winner Archimedes suggesting the return to 6f will suit. Despite not winning at the trip I am certain he gets it fine and although this is an apprentice race his Jockey Conor McGovern rode him on in the race I mentioned above when 3rd over C/D when having a poor draw. In stall 4 he should be able to lead or sit prominent and has to have a massive chance of taking this contest

She came to form around this time last year when completing a hat-trick of wins over a 1 month period. Danz Gift has won over the course and six times and recorded a very good time when winning for the 6th time back in December travelling really well before winning comfortably with seemingly more in hand. Last time out however he reared at the start losing many lengths and did well to finish second but the race was lost at the start. He does tend to start slowly but last time was an exception as his jockey was almost unseated. So long as there is no repeat of that again he can win again

Ivilnoble finished 3rd in an Irish point to point to the very useful novice hurdler Deise Aba who has good entries in the Ballymore and Albert Bartlett Novices Grade 1 races at the Cheltenham festival next month so I was interested to watch how he ran on his first run under rules when racing at Doncaster over 2m 31/2.F back in December. Things did not start too well before race as he unshipped his jockey and got loose at the start however, there was nothing wrong with the run and he ran a very good race giving one of todays rivals Hold the Note a real battle and was beaten just 3/4L he fought all the way to the line but Hold the Note just had that little extra at the end. Hold the Note was the more experienced of the two that day and now has to meet my selection on 6lb worse terms and with Ivilnoble running another good race at Chepstow last time out over a longer trip of 3m where he was only headed at the second last to finish and respectable 3rd, The drop back to 2m 4f looks a big positive and with Charlie Man having a near 31% strike rate with his novice hurdlers at this track (8 wins from 26 runners) he looks a very interesting contender and one I feel will go very close today

has been off the track for just over 100 days so fitness needs to be taken on trust but this horse looks to be well handicapped on 120 compared to past form. He has won twice at this track the last being back in Feb 2017 over a slightly longer trip off a mark of 129 and then went close next time when second off 136. He has not won since but has been lightly raced and there are excuses for a number of the defeats following those good runs he raced in Listed and Grade 3 races and then the following season he probably needed the run after an absence of 340 days, heavy ground in a class 2 next time was probably beyond him and the last two runs the ground was possibly not quite soft enough. His recent form does not inspire confidence but if anyone can get a win out of this horse again it would be Sue Smith who does well here and also when Danny Cook rides. Off 120 and at the odds available sadly I missed the 14s and 12s I am prepared to take a chance that Sue Smith can work her magic and land the win.

Both Rainbow Lads wins have been in this class and although he is yet to win a race over this course and distance he has two placed efforts that recorded good speed figures that suggests he can take a hand in this. The trainer is in good form with 4 wins from 17 (24%) as I write and with Rainbow Lad dropping to a mark that is just 1lb higher than his last race he is fancied to win

3.35 Ludlow, Trigger Nichol - Lost
1pt win @ 3.25 BetVictor, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, SkyBet, Boylesports
Trigger Nichol looked like the step up in trip to 2m 6f and the faster ground suited last time when running out a very easy winner on just his second race chasing. He will have to defy a 13lb rise here but I think that is more than capable with the manner in which he won and also with a further step up in trip looking likely to suit. Good ground should not be an issue and he is fancied to follow up

4.20 Newcastle, Rey Loopy - Lost
1pt win @ 3.75 BetVictor, Bet365, Ladbrokes, Coral, WilliamHill, 10Bet, SportPesa, Unibet, Boylesports, Betway, Betfred, RedZone
Sir Mark Prescott sent the lightly raced Mister Diver over to Ireland recently where he won a maiden comfortably and with the step up in trip looking likely to suit he will be fancied to win again but I am not sure how good a race that was and his prior two runs also look questionable and at expected short odds I want to be taking him on. The one I want to be with is the ultra consistent Rey Loopy who was up against a fast improving sort last time in Executive Force that one won again next time out off a 5lb higher mark. Rey Loopy was not given a hard race against Executive Force and once his jockey realised he had no chance with the winner he eased down allowing Rey Loopy to come home in second. Unless Mister Diver is better than I expect then I would think Rey Loopy off the same mark can go one better here and land his 6th win at the track and 4th C/D win.

5.45 Chelmsford, King Robert - Lost
1pt win @ 4.50 BetVictor, Bet365, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, Ladbrokes, Coral, WilliamHill, BetBright, 10Bet, SkyBet, SportPesa, Boylesports, Betway, Betfred, RedZone
King Robert has raced 3 times for Charlie Wallis since moving from Bryan Smart starting with a nice win over todays course and distance where he tracked the leaders before staying on well to win looking like he would improve again next time out. Ryan Moore was on board next time at Kempton where he ran no race at all and was eased as if something was amiss but he ran more like his normal self last time out when 3rd in a stronger race finishing 3rd to Desert Doctor who ran creditably next time out in a good Class 2 race. King Robert just got outpaced late on in that race and will appreciate the drop in class. King Robert is therefore forgiven his one poor race and with him having won off 89 when with Bryan Smart he does not look unfavourably treated off todays mark of 82

Straidnahanna saves all his best form for this track winning 4 times from 5 starts with 2 from 2 over course and distance.Conditions will certainly be in his favour and have last won off marks of 50 and 52 and runs here off 51 which puts his mark on a winning one. His Jockey Danny Cook has ridden him to victory 3 times before and is fancied to go close again here

3.45 Exeter, Aimee De Sivola - Lost
1pt win @ 5.00 BetVictor, Ladbrokes, Coral, WilliamHill, 10Bet, SkyBet, SportPesa, 888Sport, Betway, Betfred, RedZone
Aimee De Sivola contested a decent Novice Hurdle in November when 5th to Lust for Glory a race that has worked out well with the 2nd Posh Trish winning 3 times since including a listed win and 5 other runners also winning since so the form looks decent. She was a bit disappointing last time out when 3rd in a class 4 maiden hurdle although the 2nd did win next time out. Nick Williams normally does well with runners have their first run in a handicap and Aimee De Sivola could be on a reasonable mark with just 10st 13lb. Lizzie Kelly also takes off a valuable looking 3lb

8.30 Dundalk, Carried - Lost
1pt each way @ 8.00 Bet365, 10Bet, SportPesa
Carried finished 2nd in this race last year off a mark of 77 leading 2f out and only headed inside the final furlong and catches the eye off a 5lb lower mark and with a 3lb claimer on board. He ran well last time out in a claimer over todays trip where he was badly in at the weights he finished 3rd there but again hit the front 2 out before getting caught that was a fine run considering how badly in at the weights he was and he looks set to go well here. He is also 8lb better off with the winner and 6lb with the runner up.

Nice to Sea who had raced in Ireland had not seen a racetrack for 492 when moved to Olly Murphys stable. She made her debut at Wolverhampton in a Class 5 race over 9.5Furlongs off a mark of 53. Slow away that day she travelled well in the rear and never really got involved but was not given a hard time by David Probert. She was stepped up to todays trip of 1m 4f last time and dropped in class where she was again a bit slow away and held up in the rear. She again travelled nicely during the race and made smooth progress as she moved through the field unfortunately she met a bit of trouble when coming around the home bend and again in the straight where she was being edged across the track but she picked up well and finished strongly to take 3rd beaten just half a length and can be considered an unlucky loser. This will be her 3rd run for the stable and she should be spot on today the trip is the same and whilst this is the same class I feel this is a bit stronger than the race she stayed on last time but she is open to improvement and should go close

6.30 Wolverhampton, Michele Strogoff - Lost
1pt win @ 2.88 Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Betway, RedZone
There is a good chance that front runner Michele Strogoff from stall 4 can quickly get to the front although Key Player in stall one who has in past tried to make all is a slight concern as is Mr Top Hat who is drawn outside my selection but did make the running here 4 runs ago so there is a slight chance he may try to do so again however, my selection who has led in his last two races in much better races will appreciate the drop back to a class 3 contest and is only 3lb higher than his last C/D win which I feel was a stronger race than this and one which has seen the 2nd and 3rd come out and win franking the form. Although I really like his chances today I can’t go any stronger than the 1pt here due to possible pressure from the front

1pt win @ 7.00 Bet365, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, Ladbrokes, WilliamHill, 10Bet, SkyBet, SportPesa, Unibet, Boylesports, Betfred, RedZone
An interesting race and one where there is a form line between the favourite Intrepidly and my selection Rampant Lion via Family Fortunes. Rampant Lion beat Family Fortunes by half a length over course and distance in November when giving that rival 5lb in weight and despite getting a bit tight for room won nicely. Intrepidly gave Family Fortunes 6lb when they met over course and distance at the beginning of the month going down by a short head which suggests there is not a lot between Rampant Lion and Intrepidly. Rampant Lion has been off the track since December which would be a little concern but he gets 5lb in weight from Intrepidly and therefore at his current odds looks the value call assuming he is fit and ready

4.05 Newcastle, Loud And Clear - Lost
It is hard to look past Loud and Clear here having only just failed to win over course and distance last time out in what I feel was probably a little stronger than this. Prior that that he contested a decent Class two race race over further and whilst outclassed was not disgraced finishing in 3rd just under 4L behind the winner. Subsequent to that race he had won his two previous races here and being only 1lb higher than his close 2nd last time must take all the beating

8.00 Kempton, Blazon - Won
We were on Blazon last time out and he won very comfortably looking to have plenty in hand and is clearly improving. Joe Fanning is riding up at Newcastle today but top Jock Adam Kirby takes over hardly a negative. Up 3lb for the last win but this is a weaker race and he can complete the hat trick

there are only a few in with much of a chance here Jai Hanuman has been running well but keeps finding one to good and whilst he ran well over a mile last time I think he is better at 7f. Highwayman and Little Choosey met here back in November when Highwayman who was slow away (usual) stayed on strongly to finish a close 3rd and is now better off with Little Choosy who has not been in the same form. Tellovoi ran well last time out but he is hard to win with and at 11 has seen better days so Highwayman with the inform Lee Clifford on board is the selection

6.30 Chelmsford, West Coast Flyer - Lost
2pt win @ 5.00 BetVictor, Bet365, Boylesports
I like the fact that Jamie Spencer who has a good record for David Simcock and has also won twice on this horse is back in the saddle today. Considering the trip was on the short side for him last time out and the fact he was competing in a class 2 contest he ran a nice race to finish 3rd and now back up in trip, down in class and at a track he does well he looks to have a strong chance of winning this. He is only 2lb above his last winning mark and strengthening my case is the fact that the jockey and trainer have a 40% strike rate here in Class 3 to 5 handicaps (8 wins from 20 ) – I like him a lot

8.30 Chelmsford, Don’t Do It - Won
2pt win @ 3.50 BetVictor, SkyBet
This is another horse I am very keen on and one that has been running consistently well. He won over course and distance on the 14th Feb off a mark of 51 when travelling well and staying on strongly and always holding the 2nd Zorawar. He was raised to a mark of 57 last time out and again travelled well but met trouble in running entering the straight. He tried to make up the ground and did well despite tiring a little to finish 4th beaten just 2 lengths. He looks to have another great chance again here especially back at Chelmsford and having been drop 2lb by the handicapper and with a decent 5lb claimer that has ridden plenty of winners for the trainer I strongly fancy him to win

Very Extravagant looked like a horse returning to form last time out travelling well and taking up the running 2 out unfortunately the winner just had to much speed at the finish but the time was okay and my selection was still well clear of the 3rd. The step up in trip will suit and with the trainer and jockey having a good record a the track he can take what looks a relatively weak class

He Improved all last season finishing with an excellent 3rd in good race at York staying on well. He will have no problem with the track and has done well fresh in the past. A Sure Welcome has run well on his last two visits here despite being drawn in stalls 11 and 13. The last of those visits saw him finish 3rd and in addition to the wide draw met trouble in running. Well placed now in Stall 2 he must have every chance of getting his head back in front. He does have to shoulder 10 stone which is a concern but he is actually running off a mark of 70 which is the same as when winning here back in January over 6f. He also won here over todays trip of 5f just under a year ago off a mark of 67 that day overcoming a wide draw. This wont be easy but A Sure Welcome has everything in place and looks set to run a big race

We have been with this one for its last two wins and I think off this mark she could have another win left. She has followed a similar passage to last year completing a quick hat trick but unlike last year where she went up 9lb for the win to a mark of 65 she has only gone up 2lb to a mark off 56 which is the same mark as when she completed the 3 timer last year. Katherine Begley also takes over in the saddle and she is able to take off a further 3lb. She steps up in trip this time but she is a course and distance winner and has won at Wolverhampton over 1mile and half a furlong so that should not hinder her. This is a slightly stronger race than last time but she still looks on a winning mark and I am not going to desert her yet – 7/2 looks a fair price but if you can get the 9/2 Paddy Power that seems very generous considering her mark

We were on this one last time and he was never able to get into a winning position from stall 11 in a 14 runner race and he really did have a shocking passage. Despite tons of horse under him the jockey met trouble several times in running and although running on the at the end it was more hands and heels with the jockey being relatively easy on his mount. He is again drawn widest of all in stall 8 but the field is smaller and the race no tougher and with a better passage last time out he could have gone very close. Rossa Ryan is back on board and whilst the horse has tended to find one to beat in on 7 previous occasions I feel there is a race in him and at the odds I’m prepared to give him another chance to finally get his head in front

2.05 Wolverhampton, Silver Quartz - Lost
1pt win @ 6.50 WilliamHill, Boylesports, Betway, Betfred
Silver Quartz ran a fine race last time out in a fast run race but to be honest I think his Jockey hit the front to soon and if they hold this one up a bit longer today he must have a fine chance of taking this for Archie Watson who has a fine record at the track. The main dangers look to be Victory Bond with the young Cieren Fallon on board and Pinnata.

2.25 Sandown, Monsieur Lecoq - Lost
1pt win @ 6.00 MoPlay, BetVictor, Bet365, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, WilliamHill, 10Bet, SportPesa, Betfred, 188Bet
Monsieur Lecoq has done nothing but improve and with plus points for the ground and track he looks open to more improvement and whilst this is his toughest task today he gets 10st. Also interesting is that a decent 7lb claimer Chester Williams has been booked he ride a fine race last week to get the trainers Erick Le Rouge home in front. Monsieur Lecoq looks set to go close in this

8.30 Kempton, Merchant Of Venice - Won
2pt win @ 3.25 MoPlay, Bet365, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, WilliamHill, 10Bet, SkyBet, SportPesa, 888Sport, Unibet, Boylesports, RedZone
Showed signs of greeness when winning here back in December but once he got the hang of things he ran on powerfully really appreciating the step up to 1m. He was given a short break before racing last time at Newcastle where he travelled very well and then still showed signs of greeness when hitting the front but once ask to go on he pulled clear with plenty in hand. He should improve again and he looks to have a strong chance of landing the hat-trick

I really did not like much today and I don’t normally side with runners in bumpers but I put this one in my notebook last time she won because I liked the way she stayed on and knuckled down to her task coming through to win well and with the 2nd horse having come out since and franked the form I feel she has a good chance of following up under ideal conditions. It wont be easy with 11-7 but she went in the notebook for a reason and I feel she is open to more improvement and connections are not over trying her in the class 5 race. She will probably start favourite but thats not a bad thing with favourites having a very good record at this track striking at 38% although if you look at bumpers it rises to 41% (50% Strike rate for those that won last time out) so it is all pointing to a decent run and i like her on what looks an uninspiring Monday

2.10 Cheltenham (Arkle Nov Chase), Glen Forsa - Lost
2pt win @ 5.50 Betfair SB, PaddyPower, Betway, BlackType, Betdaq, Matchbook, Smarkets
This for me is by far the best bet on the first day. When you look at recent winners of this race Footpad, Altior, Douvan, Un De Sceaux, Sprinter Sacre then this year’s renewal does seem a bit under par however, the one horse who comes into this race with solid form is Mick Channons Glen Forsa. He started off his chasing career in a Novice handicap over 3m where he jumped well and won comfortably looking a decent recruit. He was then upped in class but dropped down to 2m 4f and he did not disappoint always travelling and jumping well just behind the leaders and then taking up the running after the 10th where he was in a beautiful Rhythm galloping all the way to the line. Glen Rocco a winner next time out was 3 lengths back in second and comfortably held. Mick Channon has not hidden the fact that he rates this horse highly and because of his slick economical jumping style he decided to drop him down to 2m and take on the useful Kalashnikov in the Grade 2 Kingmaker Novices Chase at Sandown where not only did he beat that rival who was a 1/4 shot on the day he demolished him. I am not one of those that believes Kalashnikov did not run his race I don’t think there was any fluke in that win as Glen Forsa travelled well again saving energy with his slick jumping and maintaining a good solid gallop all the way to the line and in my opinion, he just ran the favourite into the ground. This will be his biggest task to date but as stated I don’t think this is a strong renewal of the race and my only concern will be that they are likely to go off fast here but if his jockey can just keep him focused over the first few fences and get him into a good Rhythm he can then sit handy before taking it up late on. Hopefully he can kick on around the home bend where his stamina can then come into play

3.30 Cheltenham – (Champion Hurdle), Buveur Dair - Lost
1pt win @ 3.75 WilliamHill, BetVictor, Bet365, Coral, Sportingbet, Unibet, Boylesports, Betway, Betfred, 188Bet, BlackType
This looks a great renewal and Buveur Dair looks to win this for the 3rd year in succession. The horse has never been given credit for his past wins but with Apples Jade and Laurina getting allowances from him then if he completes the treble he will go down in the history books as one of the greats. So can he do it for a 3rd time especially conceding the 7lb allowance I believe he can I am of the view that whilst Apple Jade is a very good mare I am not convinced that Cheltenham is her track and she was always thought to want further than 2 miles and I feel her win over Supersundae over 2 miles last time out is probably being over hyped because although she beat him by 16L she had already beaten by 20L in December so there was no real improvement in that last win in my opinion. This leaves Laurina who could be anything be this will be a tough task for a mare and she has not always been the most fluent of hurdlers and feel Buveur Dair’s class will see him out battle the mare here. The looks to be plenty of pace on so I expect my selection to sit just off the lead and pick them up after the last. 11/4 looks a decent price for a dual winner and Nicky Henderson has commented that he feels the horse comes into this in better shape than last year which he will need to in order to win this but I think he is a class act and can win again

Ran an absolute blinder of a race last time out especially as the trainer felt he would benefit from the run to win a decent C2 handicap the 4th horse that day was Paul Nicholls over runner Malaya who went on and won the imperial cup next time out. Brio Conti if in need of the run will certainly strip fitter he and looks to have a solid chance. It is ultra competitive so will be playing each way

7.45 Kempton, Baashiq - Lost
1pt win @ 4.33 MoPlay, 10Bet, WilliamHill, BetVictor, Coral, SkyBet
Baashiq went very close to winning over course and distance last time out where he was headed inside the final furlong but then battled back well to be denied a short head. That was a stronger contest and he will appreciate the drop in class and should be able to go one better here.

1pt win @ 5.50 WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, Sportingbet, 888Sport, Unibet, Boylesports
Having travelled well in the Gold Cup last year and failing to see out the trip I believe this race has been the plan for this horse who will have conditions to suit. This is a strong race with last years Arkle winner Footpad in the race but there has to be questions about whether he as back to his best and the trip. Road To Respect had a sharpener at Leopardstown last month when just denied and that will have put him spot on for this

0.25pt each way @ 51.00 10Bet, WilliamHill, BetVictor, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa, Betway, Betfred, 188Bet (all paying 5 places)
I am taking a bit of a chance with this one but on some of his past ratings he would certainly stand a chance. He has not run for 325 days but has run some of his better races when fresh so the lack of a run does not worry me. Despite the absence he did win his last race but has since moved to a small stable so its a bit of an unknown whether he had any problems however, like I say his rating last time would give him a small shout and this stable have only ever had 9 runners at this track resulting in two winners. Outsiders have also done well in this race so at 50/1 we can risk a relatively low stake

3.30 Cheltenham (Gold Cup), Clan Des Obeaux - Lost
2pt win @ 6.50 BetVictor, Ladbrokes, Coral, Sportingbet, 888Sport, Boylesports, BlackType
I initially thought the form of the King George may have been a bit suspect but when you listen to the trainers comments about how they were not able to train him properly last year and how confident he was about the horse showing his best this season it probably was not a surprise to them he won. I was therefore was keen to see how how he did next time in the Denman Chase at Ascot and he did not disappoint whilst he only beat Terrefort who is a decent horse on his day he hosed up and looked a very class horse and left the impression that he would win the Gold Cup. Having assessed the race there are plenty of dangers in the race Native Ruler last years winner is sure to go well but was well beaten by Clan Des Obeux in the King George but will have conditions to suit today but I feel that my selection still has plenty of improvement to come. Presenting Percy has been the talk of Ireland and is another danger but he has had far from the ideal preparation having won a hurdle race last time out not a chase. Paul Nicholls has had a good Festival so far and whilst it has been a while since the trainer last won the Gold Cup I have had this down as my best bet of the meeting and I fancy him to win another Gold Cup for the trainer

3.40 Lingfield, Loyalty - Lost
1pt win @ 2.75 MoPlay, 10Bet, Bet365, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, Ladbrokes, Coral, SkyBet, SportPesa, Betfred, RedZone, SportNation
Loyalty may be 12 years old but he has been in top form winning two of his last three races and he is well favoured at the weights for this claimer and is fancied to continue his good run

5.00 Lingfield, Fearsome - Lost
1pt win @ 5.00 MoPlay, 10Bet, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, Ladbrokes, Coral, SkyBet, SportPesa, Betfred, RedZone, SportNation
Fearsome has won 5 times over course and distance and whilst he was a bit disappointing the last time he ran here he did run much better at Wolverhampton last time out in much better race. Came back off an absence to finish a very close 2nd to the inform Erick Le Rouge. The third horse Canyon City has since won so the form looks good. Henderson has been in fine form this week and he should be able to continue that form with a win here

3.15 Kempton, Brother Tedd - Lost
1pt win @ 6.00 WilliamHill, BetVictor, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, Ladbrokes, Boylesports
Things haven’t quite fell right yet for the favourite Onefortheroadted but it may do soon but still has it to prove and looks a bit short considering. Kayf Blanco is on a 3 timer but this is tougher and he also has more weight to carry. Forth Bridge is nothing but consistent and is sure to go well again but may again find one to good in the shape of Brother Tedd who came back off a very long absence to finish a good 2nd to Gortroe Joe. He should be sharper today loves the ground and acts well at the track.

3.35 Uttoxeter, Back To The Thatch - Lost
1pt each way @ 13.00 BetVictor, SkyBet, Betway
Ms Parfios is a horse I like and I would certainly be worried about her but whilst she probably needed the run more than expected last time she did drop away quite quickly. Potters Corner is another we have been with and I had to pass him over but his jumping tends to let him down when it matters but it would be no surprise to see him go close if staying on his feet. However, the one I like is Richard Johnsons mount Back to the Thatch who ran well at Haydock last time out when finishing second but it was his run in the Eider Chase last February that catches my attention making smooth headway and going well before falling. He relishes soft ground looked to be enjoying the eider trip and gets in on just 10 stone 5lb and he looks to have a very good each way chance

3pt win @ 2.62 BetVictor, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, SkyBet, Boylesports, Betway, BlackType
Despite there being some support for Snookered who could still be improving I just cannot get away from Bonne Question in this. He absolutely bolted up at Ffos Las in February when superbly ridden by Charlie Deutsch who is back on board today. He was then sent to Sandown for an Amateur rider race where he travelled well and was kicked on in to the lead just before the second last pulling clear however it is a long way up that sandown hill and he was collared right on the line. In hindsight his amateur rider probably went for home to soon and would likely have won if he had committed later but with the more experienced Deutsch in the saddle I find it hard to oppose Bonne Question here.

5.05 Taunton, Gonnabegood - Lost

Gonnabegood had been in good form prior to disappointing last time out but that win at Exeter over hurdles was a real slog in heavy ground and he may not have recovered when sent chasing last time out. Heresmynumber has had just three runs over hurdles this season following a fall over fences over course and distance at the end of last season. When he fell that day he was still in contention and challenging when falling 2 out. He was racing off 100 that day and off a mark of 96 which is 1lb below his last win he looks well treated on a return to fences. He handles the track and likes plenty of cut which he will get here

Lord Bryan has been competing with credit in stronger races than this and is now 2lb below his last winning mark which was course and distance win just under a year ago and will appreciate the drop in class and slower ground conditions. There are question marks over a number of his fancied rivals and he looks set to play a major part in this

Day 74

2.40 Lingfield, Spirit Of Zebedee - Won
1pt win @ 5.50 BetVictor, Bet365
I have whittled this down to 3 runners Spirit of Zebedee, Tavener and At Your Service. At Your service was unlucky here a couple of runs ago but then made amends when winning at Chelmsford next time out he seems to be improving but I just have a feeling the additional 5lb will be his undoing here. There was little between Spirit of Zebedee and Tavener last time out and both are drawn well but Spirit of Zebedee is 6lb better at the weights for just a 3/4 length beating and that is enough for me.

3.15 Lingfield, Prominna - Lost
1pt win @ 4.00 BetVictor, Bet365
Sandsfrankskipsgo and Captain Ryan both come here with chances but Prominna went very close last time out despite not starting well and then racing keen through the race something he has done before however, the addition of cheekpieces may well help solve that. Even so without the headgear he is triple course and distance winner so look sure to be thereabouts

8.00 Kempton, Treacherous - Lost
1pt win @ 4.00 WilliamHill, BetVictor
Has been in tremendous form of late completing the hat-trick last time out coming from well off the pace to get up on the line. Global Academy stole a clear lead that day and nearly nicked the race from the front so Treacherous did well to close the gap and it is unlikely that Global Academy will get such a easy lead this time although that was his first run for sometime so may come on a bit. That said Treacherous has only gone up 2lb for that win and whilst he is worse off with a few behind on previous runs I felt he always had those beaten. Reckless Endeavour is being supported but that one needs a strong pace and I am not so sure Global Academy will hit so hard this time so I am taking Treacherous to win again

1pt win @ 4.00 Bet365, Ladbrokes, WilliamHill, BetVictor, Coral, Betfred, Betway, RedZone, SportPesa, 10Bet, BetHard, 888Sport, MoPlay
Avondhu Pearl is not always one to trust she carries her head a bit awkwardly but finished 3rd in this last year off a 10lb higher mark and comes here off a decent 2nd last time out and must have every chance of winning this. Sweet Vinetta looks the danger but my selection is receiving nearly 2 stone in weight and that is enough for me to side with

5.00 Lingfield, Don’t Do It - Lost
1pt win @ 4.00 BetVictor, Bet365
Has been in good form of late but the drop back in trip last time out found him out and he will appreciate the step back up to 1m 2f. Has good form here and looks to have every chance with a top amateur Serena Brotherton on board

7.15 Wolverhampton, Agent Of Fortune - Lost
1pt win @ 4.50 BetVictor, Bet365
Agent of Fortune has been off for a while but has won fresh in the past and the booking of Adam Kirby also looks a big positive. There is possibly more improvement to come and he is fancied to come of the break and take this

Not the most fluent of jumpers but showed improved form when running on well to beat two subsequent winners. First time cheekpieces are worn which I guess is to try and concentrate his mind on jumping but if in the same mood as last time should be too strong for these

7.30 Wolverhampton, Jackstar
2pt win @ 2.50 BetVictor, Bet365, SkyBet, Boylesports
Despite being bred for further Jackstar created a very good impression when winning over 5f at Newmarket in April last year on his debut. The form is solid with the 3rd horse Van Beethoven going on to win a Group 2. Jackstar did it very well and won with plenty in hand but has not been seen since so has probably had a few issues however, he clocked solid speed figures when winning looks sure to appreciate the step up in trip and I doubt very much that Tom Dascombe would run this decent sort under a penalty here unless ready to do himself justice.

4.10 Lingfield, Tessorino - Lost
1pt win @ 3.25 MoPlay, 10Bet, BetHard, WilliamHill, BetVictor, SportPesa
Made all when winning over 1m 4f here back in February and was then dropped back to today’s trip of 1m 2f where he again tried to make all but weakened inside the final furlong to finish 3rd. He races off the same mark here in what looks on paper a weaker race so I am hoping that he can make all again here. The main danger looks to be Creative Talent who is another who could improve

2.50 Wolverhampton, Waters Edge - Lost
1pt win @ 4.33 MoPlay, 10Bet, Bet365, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, SkyBet, SportPesa, Betfred, RedZone
Waters Edge was not too far behind Gantier last time out and is now better off at the weights. Both horses look sure to be suited by the step up in trip but I feel todays race will suit my selection better this time which is why I feel connections are keen to take on Gantier again. Oisin Murphy has been booked and has a good strike rate for the trainer

3.55 Wolverhampton, Reflektor - Won
1pt win @ 13.00 MoPlay, 10Bet, BetHard, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, SkyBet, SportPesa, Betfred, RedZone
It is possible course and distance winner Reflektor could bounce back to form here he was slightly disappointing last time out in a grade higher race run at a decent clip. My selection runs his best races when able to get to the lead but last time he in the better class he was pushed early for the lead and faded out of contention. There does not seem to be any real early pace issues in this and now reunited with Richard Kingscote and dropped in class he may just be able to get an early lead and is worth chancing at his current odds

8.30 Newcastle, Jan Van Hoof - Lost
1pt win @ 5.00 WilliamHill, BetVictor
Jan Van Hoof is only 2lb higher than his last winning mark which was over course and distance back in February where he had one of todays rivals Gowanbuster back in 4th. My selection travelled well that day and looked the winner a fair way out and despite being 4lb worse off with Gowanbuster he had him comfortably held. Jan Van Hoof went up 2lb for winning that and went well next time out which was also his last run he again travelled very smoothly and was making a move just like another of todays rivals Canford Bay who was coming off a break but my selection did not get much room and had to switch inside and would have finished closer. Canford Bay did not back his run up last time when slightly hampered at Wolverhampton but is sure to be thereabouts again but I favour Jan Van Hoof to sit behind and pick them off late

Day 82

1.50 Doncaster, Mokarris - Lost
1pt win @ 8.50 888Sport, Boylesports
this wont be easy with Invincible Army, Equilateral and Arbalet in the race but I am going to take a chance with Mokarris who had been off the track for 640 days when returning after wind surgery in a hot listed contest at Lingfield in February won by the speed ball Kachy. This was never going to be an easy task for Mokarris who had been second to Blue Point in the 2016 Gimcrack and it was made all the harder by him missing the start and then having to race widest of all however, he was not given a tough time but caught the eye when switched to the inside around the final bend to challenge up the inside. Kachy was gone beyond call but I felt it was a fair run from my selection who would have finished closer if the race had panned out better. This horse is a very nice traveller and this track will suit him far better than Lingfield and having had that run under his bet he may just have a fitness edge. That said I think this horse could be very useful and Silvestre De Sousa is an interesting booking.

3.35 Doncaster, Auxerre - Won
1pt win @5.00 MoPlay, 10Bet, BetHard, WilliamHill
I am a massive fan of Charlie Appleby who had the option to send this one to Dubai but has chosen to stay here for the Lincoln. The fact that this horse lacks the experience of other runners and Appleby still sends him here shows me how good the trainer rates this horse might as he certainly would not let him run if he did not think he could win the race. Having watched the re runs of his previous wins the horse does look quite a classy animal and the reports are that he has been working very well at home. He is short in the market but he could have plenty in hand of these and feel he could be hard to beat

1pt win @ 3.50 Bet365, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, Betfred
Willie John disappointed when stepped up to group 3 class at the end of last season but is open to improvement but I feel his price is a bit short compared to what he has achieved. Crown Eagle has chances but the one for me has to be Red Verdon who has solid group form and and is favoured by the weights.

2.35 Chelmsford, Maazel - Lost
1pt win @ 3.50 BetVictor, SkyBet
Maazel only failed by a head to follow up his win at Lingfield and gets to race here off the same mark in what is definitely a weaker contest. There is no reason why he wont run as well at this track he seemed to handle it okay last March when 4th over an inadequate trip and off a much higher mark. The only real downside is that he will be ridden by an apprentice Georgia Dobie who only has 5 wins to her name but the additional 7lb of Maazel’s back should mean that even with the Jockeys inexperience he should be hard to beat

3.45 Musselburgh, Love Dreams - Non Runner
1pt win @ 4.00 MoPlay, 10Bet, BetHard, Coral, SportPesa
After spending some time in Meydan Love Dreams returned to finish a very good second to Sanaadh at Kempton last Month off a mark of 92. Prior to going to Meydan he had previously finished just over 3 Lengths behind Hayadh over course and distance but did not get the run of the race having to run wide coming into the straight he had every chance before weakening late on. He is 9lb better off with that rival who has been off the track for 157 days but has won fresh in the past but I feel Love Dreams who is in form and clearly well handicapped has a decent chance of overturning that form and taking this

4.30 Lingfield, Whinging Willie - Lost
1pt win @ 15.00 WilliamHill, Bet365
I am going to take a chance on the 10 year old Whinging Willy who now has Hector Crouch back in the saddle after being ridden in his last two races by an inexperienced apprentice who had only 1 win to his name. My Selection has a piece of form over this course and distance back in October which suggests he has a chance here. He raced that day off a 5lb higher mark than today in a race that was stronger in depth than this he was held up as usual and despite having to delay his challenge due to a little traffic problems he stayed on very strongly to finish 4th just 1 length behind the winner. A reproduction of that run would see him go close here and at his current odds is certainly worth the risk

7.15 Kempton, Valentino Dancer - Lost
1pt win @ 4.33 WilliamHill, Betfair SB, PaddyPower, SkyBet, 888Sport, Boylesports
Ran a career best over course and distance last time out making eye-catching ground to finish 2nd but the winner was gone beyond catching. Valentino Dancer really appreciated the step up in trip and if Cieren Fallon could ride the race again he may well have sat closer to the leaders. This is a similar contest and he only has 1lb more to carry and Fallon is on board again taking off a valuable 7lb

Only failed by a length and a half to land the hat-trick last time out but will appreciate the drop in grade plus Theodore Ladd takes off a valuable 5lb and she should go close

4.40 Aintree, Theinval - Non Runner
1.5pt each way @ 11.00 MoPlay, 10Bet, BetHard, WilliamHill, BetVictor, PaddyPower, SkyBet, SportPesa (all pay 5 places)
Theinval has finished second in the race for the last 2 seasons but unlike previous years this season his trainer did not take him to Cheltenham so he should be much fresher than normal. He has had a very quiet time of things recently which has seen his handicap mark drop and he looks to have been targeted for this race and a big run is expected

3pt Win @ 3.00 Betfair, PaddyPower
This looks between Cosmic Landscape and Badenscoth. Cosmic Landscape who won over course and distance back in January will appreciate the return here and with Cieren Fallon taking off 7lb he has to be considered but I think if Badenscoth if in the same mood as when quickening to win last time will be hard to beat and his turn off foot may prove to much for Cosmic Landscape

5.15 Aintree (Grand National), Jury Duty - Lost
1pt each way @ 17.00 10Bet, BetHard, WilliamHill, Bet365, Ladbrokes, Coral, SportPesa (all pay six places)
I managed to find the winner of this last year with Tiger Roll and he attempts to be the first horse since Red Rum to win a second Grand National and I would love nothing more than to see him do it. He has been in fabulous form but the recent withdrawal of top weight Bristol De Mai has seen the weights rise and Tiger Roll now has to carry 11-5 which is not out of the question but that will no doubt make things harder and he does not look a betting proposition at the current odds. The one I like is another Gordon Elliiot runner, he has 11 running, Jury Duty and I liked the way he travelled when winning last time out over 3m 2f at Down Royal winning with plenty in hand. In a race like the National it’s good to have a horse that can travel well something Tiger Roll had shown prior to winning last year. Jury Duty looks like he has a touch of class and he has some solid form notably when finishing 3rd in the Galway Plate a Grade A Handicap Chase at Galway last August and also when beating Shattered Love and Presenting Percy in a grade 2 novice Chase at Punchestown back in 2017 . In the Galway plate he again travelled well and I felt the leader stole the race that day and while Jury Duty was staying on well at the finish Jury Duty had no chance of catching the winner. Like manyJury Duty is unproven over this far but his trainer is at the top of his game and knows what he is doing. He has a previous Grand National winning jockey on board and with a bit off luck off 10-11 Jury Duty may be able to out do his more fancied stablemate

Has done well since returning to hurdles and whilst unproven on heavy ground he has won twice on soft so I see no reason why he won’t handle it. Up 5lb for the win but possibly some improvement to come

5.15 Ffos Las, Prudhome - Won
1pt win @ 2.88 MoPlay, 10Bet, BetHard, WilliamHill, BetVictor, Bet365
