2:10 Beverley, Twentysvthlancers - Non Runner
2pts each way @ 15.00 SkyBet, SportPesa (both pay 5 places)
Ran OK in a 0-70 at Ponte two starts back and then I thought he went off surprisingly short at 5/1 on his next outing over Musselburgh’s sharp 5f track where, after a sluggish start he was badly outpaced on the quick ground before starting to stay on inside the final furlong. He’s back on slower ground tomorrow at the venue of his last turf win so from a nice draw in stall 5 I think he has ideal conditions to run a big race.

2:40 Beverley, Al Ozzdi - Lost

Ex Simon Crisford gelding and now with the Roger Fell yard, who’s been having plenty of success with his new recruits, he ran well on his stable debut last year before finding the ground too soft next time and has only raced the once this year which was his first outing since last August where, after travelling well for a long way, the combination of racing keenly along with him possibly needing the run meant he dropped away inside the final last. He’s down a furlong in trip tomorrow and if he can settle better and improve for that last run, then I think he could outrun his juicy odds.

(Yes, the above is correct)
@ 26.00 Bet365, BetVictor
0 from 7 but he’s shown ability a number of times and although finishing well don the field on his return last time I think the run can be marked up considerably as, not only did he race keen, he was kept at least 3 horse widths wide for the entire race, yet still finished on the front foot. He’s down to 6f tomorrow in a race full of out of form and regressing rivals and with Barry McHugh back in the saddle I think he looks way to big at around 20/1.

3:30 Brighton, Confils - Lost
1pt each way @ 29.00 SkyBet, Ladbrokes, Betfair SB, BetVictor, PaddyPower, Unibet
Caught my eye in March on his return to action in a decent novice race at Lingfield staying on nicely, and then despite finishing well down the field when upped in trip for his handicap debut on his next outing I thought he ran an encouraging race when trying a mile and half for the first time as his jockey had him in a poor position out wide for much of the race without any cover yet he still kept on rolling. He’s back down to a mile 2f tomorrow in what looks a lesser race and with Pat Cosgrove taking over in the saddle he also looks well overpriced.

4:15 Thirsk, Cormier - Non Runner
1pt each way @ 17.00 Bet365, SkyBet, Betway
Ran well behind some decent types in novice races and then I thought he ran Ok in what looked a strong 3yo handicap last time despite racing a tad keenly in the first half of the race. He’s up 2f in trip tomorrow so will need to settle better off what might be a steady pace, but he’s receiving plenty of weight from his older rivals and if he gets the extra trip then I think he’ll go well.

5:40 Lingfield, Freedom And Wheat - Lost
1pt win @ 9.00 WilliamHill, BetVictor, Betway
Ruined his chance with a slow start when we backed him last time, but that race ended up being run at a strong pace and fell apart so was able to pass weakening rivals and finish 3rd. He’s a horse that likes to be up with the pace so that run can actually be marked up despite it suiting the hold-up horses and if he gets away better tomorrow then he’ll have every chance back over 7f at the scene of his impressive win here back in December. This is ‘potentially’ a better race than last time with a few unexposed and interesting types from top yards, but there’s nothing that really stands out form wise and if Fergus Sweeney can get him in a nice posi early either on or close to the lead then he should be in the mix.

7:40 Lingfield, Colwood - Won
1pt win @ 9.00 Bet365, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, WilliamHill, BetVictor, Betfred
Unlucky not to finish closer last time and although that was on the fibresand he’s got form at this track and if he can run to a similar level tomorrow then he must go well.

8:20 Newcastle, Decision Maker - Won
1pt win @ 7.00 Bet365, BetVictor, Betfred, Betway
Had no chance over 6f on soft ground last time but considering he was also drawn on the wrong side and racing on the worst ground it was actually a decent run. Back over his fav C&D and well drawn, he must go well.

Both our horses outran their prices buti It wasn’t to be for our Trixie today, made worse by the best backed of the 3 becoming a n/r due to the quick ground. But we’ll have one more bite of the cherry with a

12:30 Nottingham, Penny Pot Lane - Placed
1pt each way @ 17.00 SkyBet, Ladbrokes, WilliamHill, Marathon, Betfair SB, BetVictor, PaddyPower, Coral, Betfred
Has run well in each of her 3 races this year starting with a hot handicap at Ripon where, although finishing 8th she finished third in her group on the far side behind “Paddy Power” in 2nd who’s subsequently won two races and “Bossipop” the winner of the race who’s gone on to run well in a good class 3 handicap at Redcar. She then ran well in a messy fillies race at Doncaster and despite finishing well down the field over this C&D last time I think her effort can be marked up significantly as there seemed to be definite track bias that day with the low numbers benefiting from racing more centrally on the track and the high numbers racing closer to the rail on what looked like the worst strip of ground. A couple of the high drawn horse have since been out and run well and won in the same race at Thirsk including “Tricky Dicky” (drawn 16 – won) and “Poet’s Pride” (drawn 17 – 4th) which again strengthens the case for their being a track/draw bias. PPL drops into a fillies 0-70 handicap tomorrow and with a win to her name in 0-80 company here, she looks set to run a big race. One thing against her tomorrow is another high draw in stall 9, but this is a much smaller field plus the stalls are advertised to be sat centrally tomorrow and not against the stands rail like last time which will help her cause and if her jockey can get some cover then I think she’ll have an excellent chance.

2:00 Nottingham, Mullarkey - Lost
1pt win @ 7.00 Bet365, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, Marathon, Betfair SB, BetVictor, PaddyPower, Coral, Betfred, BlackType
Has generally been in good form this year and he again shown his best despite racing on unfavourable soft ground at Lingfield last time chasing a good pace before tiring slightly late on. He’s back on better ground tomorrow and if he can repeat either of his last two turf runs (won at Leicester but relegated to 2nd on penultimate start) then it might be enough to win this.

7:00 Ripon, Golden Parade - Lost
1pt win @ 13.00 Bet365, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, Betfair SB, BetVictor, PaddyPower, Coral, Betfred, SportPesa, 10Bet
Ran an encouraging race on his return from a break last time at Haydock and had it not got a bit tight towards the end he might have finished in the places. He should come on for that run and is down in grade tomorrow at a track that should suit, well drawn and won’t mind any of the rain that is forecast tonight at Ripon, he should go well.

1:45 Haydock, Cormier - Lost
1pt win @ 21.00 Bet365, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, WilliamHill, BetVictor
A non-runner when we had him the other day due to quick ground and although this is a better race, it’s no better than the 3yo handicap he raced in last time at Donny. He’ll be racing on heavy ground for the first time tomorrow which is an obvious concern, but he’s related to several soft/heavy ground winners over staying distances, and if he settles better over tomorrow ‘s longer trip he might be able to spring a minor surprise in this small field.

4:10 Haydock, Gymkhana - Lost
1pt win @ 17.00 SkyBet, WilliamHill, 888Sport
This looks quite tight between the top 6 so I’m going to take a flyer on Gymkhana who’s having his first start for David O’Meara. He’s a trainer that does really well with new recruits and he won this race last year with the same jockey. The horse himself ran well when last seen in a flat race on the turf when dropped to 6f in a hot handicap at Doncaster when trained in Ireland and is racing off a 4lb lower mark on his stable debut tomorrow. He’s going to relish the conditions no matter how much more rain falls tonight/tomorrow and has more stamina than his rivals so looks worth risking at a nice price.

4:45 Haydock, The Night Watch - Lost
2pts win @ 8.50 WilliamHill, Betfair SB, PaddyPower
Ran well when conceding 7lb to subsequent listed 2nd Oxted (wish he’d won!) and then failed to build on that last time after racing keenly over the same 7f trip on his handicap debut which was a very hot 0-95 handicap. He drops in trip/grade tomorrow and has form from last year on the ground so he certainly deserves another chance.

8:15 Lingfield, Double Up - Non Runner
1pt each way @ 26.00 Skybet, Betfair SB, BetVictor, PaddyPower, BlackType
Very well handicapped on old form and despite finishing well down the field on both his latest outings, I think he’s shown enough to suggest he can win a race when dropping in grade which he is tomorrow. He shown bags of speed in both those races and ended up chasing a strong pace each time before fading inside the final furlong. He’s down to 0-85 company tomorrow in a much smaller field which will suit and in a race that doesn’t look to have a lot of pace I think he could run into a place at the very least.

2:00 Goodwood, Taurean Star - Lost
1pt win @ 9.00 Bet365, SkyBet, BetVictor
Ran well enough in the Victoria Cup at Ascot on his return last time considering how keen he was early which should have him right for his return to the track of his last win which was a race that he did well to win having been held up from a wide draw. He had plenty of pace to aim at that day which isn’t guaranteed tomorrow, but he’ll have his ideal ground with a much better draw in a smaller field and if he gets a decent pace to aim then he should go well.

4:10 Goodwood, Double Up - Lost
2pts win @ 15.00 Ladbrokes, BetVictor, Coral, Betfred, RedZone, 10Bet
A non-runner for us today, but I noted yesterday that he was a late entry into tomorrow’s race at Goodwood possibly in search of the soft ground which they have at the track. I mentioned two races in which he chased a strong pace and the first of those which was over 7f was on soft ground where he probably faired better than last time on good. It’s the same grade tomorrow as it was today but with Adam Kirby booked to ride being a big plus (and unfortunately helped to shorten his opening price) I’m going to double our stake to 2pts. The only negative is that he’s drawn widest in stall 1, but the low numbers have enjoyed much more success than the high numbers over the 6f trip so it’s not enough to put me off backing him tomorrow.

5:15 Goodwood, Eligible - Non Runner
2pts win @ 4.00 Bet365, SkyBet
Stayed on well on his return to action last time in what was a pretty hot maiden, that race was on quick ground but he ran fairly well in an even hotter novice race on his racecourse debut last year at Newbury, and despite finishing only 9th of 16 he wasn’t given a hard time on his introduction racing. He’s got an opening mark of just 75 for those two runs which looks extremely generous to considering some of the horses finishing ahead of him in that Newbury race are now rated in the 90s and 100’s. Adam Kirby again gets the ride and from a nice draw back on soft ground I think he has a big chance.

6:00 Leicester, Air Hair Lair - Lost
1pt win @ 34.00 Bet365, BetVictor
Shown a fair amount of ability in each of his three maiden/novice races which were all of a good level and then despite finishing halfway down the field last time, I thought he again ran quite well as he raced 3-4 horse widths wide for most of the race and ended up coming down the centre of the track when the action was happening inside him closer to the rail. He takes a drop in grade for his second run in a handicap tomorrow and has a handy high draw, the only concern is what the condition of the ground will be come race time as he’s yet to encounter anything worse than gd-sft, but he ran well for a long way before tiring on easy ground on his debut at Newbury plus he’s got quite a high knee action so it might be advantageous to him should the ground turn soft, plus he’s a big enough price to take that risk. I fancy there might be a few non-runners tomorrow if the ground turns soft which will leave us with just 3 places, and with him being unproven on the ground I’m going to suggest a ‘shit or bust’ 1pt win bet rather than e/w despite his juicy price.

9:05 Pontefract, Sheepscar Lad - Lost
1pt win @ 13.00 SkyBet, Ladbrokes, WilliamHill, BetVictor, Coral, SportPesa
Has been holding his own in better races than tomorrow’s including over this C&D last time where he raced widest off the home turn and stayed on well to the finish. He’s a nice draw in trap 8 tomorrow and with plenty of rain forecast he should have ideal conditions to run a big race.

3:15 Nottingham, Alaadel - Lost
1pt win @ 11.00 Bet365, 888Sport
Not been seen since running an OK race over 7f at Doncaster in a very good optional claiming handicap. Tomorrow’s race looks easier back over a more suitable 6f and with Adam Kirby booked for his return on ground that will be ideal, the signals all point towards a big run.

3:15 Nottingham, Dalton - Won
1pt win @ 11.00 Bet365, 888Sport
Another horse that catches the eye at the prices is Dalton, who ran a big race last time at Thirsk. He finished 3rd that day and with the 2nd 4th 5th and 10th all winning their next races, it gives the form a very solid look. He should relish conditions tomorrow having run well in the Ayr Bronze Cup last year on similar ground and on just his third outing of the year, he looks worth a saver.

3:35 Newbury, Leader Writer - Lost
2pts win @ 3.50 Betfair SB, BetVictor, PaddyPower
Ran a big race for his new yard at Beverley last time where, after having to be held up from his wide draw and becoming slightly detached, he picked up really well producing excellent closing sectionals to go down by just 1/2 a length behind the very much in form subsequent winner Kylie Rules, who’s won 4 of his 5 races this year. Tomorrow’s straight mile on soft/heavy ground will suit and with Ryan Moore in the saddle he has plenty in his favour.

3:45 Nottingham, Stallone - Won
1pt win @ 6.00 Bet365, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, WilliamHill, Coral, Betfred, BlackType
Finished well down the field last time but he’s got valid excuses in that, he was trying a longer trip for the first time along with wearing the visor for the first time, under an apprentice jockey for the first time. That was on good ground, but he caught my eye when staying on well in a decent maiden at Doncaster on soft ground and with Adam Kirby booked to ride back on similar ground, I think there’s reason to think that he could have the ideal setting to record his first win tomorrow.

4:10 Newbury, Global Destination - Won
1pt win @ 13.00 Ladbrokes, WilliamHill, Betfair SB, BetVictor, PaddyPower, Betfred, BlackType, RedZone
Was possibly a bit below par on his handicap debut last time, but I noted him staying on nicely after getting quite badly outpaced on the quick ground at Lingfield. He should come on for that run and there’s evidence in his pedigree to suggest he’ll be better on a softer surface, as not only did his sire ‘Slade Power’ win 3 group races on different variations of easy ground, he is also a half-brother to ‘Terhaal’ whose best form was on soft ground, so we’ll hopefully see an improved effort tomorrow.

7:30 Haydock, Tricorn - Race Abandoned
1pt each way @ 26.00 Ladbrokes, WilliamHill, BetVictor, Coral, Betway, BlackType
Ex John Gosden trained and now with the Ruth Carr he’s is a horse I’ve been closely monitoring as he was rated as high as 105 only last year. He’s raced 3 times for Carr and although not shown a great deal I thought there was a glimmer of a return to form last time in the prestigious Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar. That race was over a mile 2f, a trip that will stretch his stamina, but he came with a run down the wide outside and got somewhere close to the leaders (who were racing on the other side nearer the rail) before labouring inside the two pole on his first try at the trip. He’s back down to a mile tomorrow on contrasting ground, but I thought he ran quite well the last time he raced on soft ground in a hot handicap at Ascot last year in a race where he got repeatedly hampered before staying on again inside the final furlong. Ruth Carr is a very good trainer and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before she can get this horse winning again, and off a 4lb lower mark tomorrow, I hope I’ve not come for him ‘too early’ and that he can run a big race.

1pt each way @ 23.00 Betfair SB, BetVictor, PaddyPower, 10Bet, BetHard (all pay 5 places)
10 years young now and although past his best I think he can win more races off his current mark under the right conditions. He ran well when dropped to 7 1/2 furlongs at Chester last time staying on well when hampered late on and if he was racing on softer ground that day it’s not hard to envisage him winning. He has said ground tomorrow over a slightly shorter but stiffer trip, along with useful claimer Sean Davis taking off a handy 3lb and I think he’ll go well especially if they take each other on up front which looks entirely possible.

3:35 York, Barbill - Lost
2pts each way @ 29.00 WilliamHill, BetVictor (both pay 5 places)
Has some good 2yo form to his name in pattern company and although he’s failed to win this year after 4 starts I think he’s still been running to a fair level, again in good quality pattern races at both Newbury, where he finished a staying on 4th after getting slightly hampered at the start, and then last time at Maison Laffitte where he looked unlucky not to finish much closer to the leader after getting his run blocked twice. He drops into handicap company for the first time in 17 starts tomorrow which just shows the level that he’s been competing at previously and although there’s plenty of unexposed types in tomorrow’s field, he’s proven at this trip and on this type of ground and if he can run to a similar level as last time in a listed race, then he should be able to hold his own no matter what at this level.

4:25 Sandown, New King - Won
2pts win @ 5.00 Bet365, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, WilliamHill
Ran well after a tardy start last time behind stablemate and subsequent listed race winner ‘Private Secretary’ which was his first run since January, and had he got away better and not got slightly hampered during the race I think he’d have gone close. that was on quick ground but he’s a half brother to another stablemate in ‘Military Law’ who won his second start on soft ground plus he’s by Frankel whose progeny have been doing well on an easy surface. Oisin Murphy retains the ride and I fancy him to go well.

5:15 York, Start Time - Lost
1pt each way @ 19.00 SkyBet, Ladbrokes, BetVictor, Unibet, Coral (all pay 5 places)
Ran well in a hot 0-100 at Epsom last time racing a tad keenly despite chasing a good pace on unfavourable quick ground. He’s got his preferred softer conditions tomorrow dropping to 6f in a 0-80 with just the one possible negative being a wide draw, but they should split into two groups and if he gets enough pace to aim at on the nearside group then he won’t be far away.

A few of you have asked why I never suggested a Yankee with yesterday’s winners, the reason being we had two horses in the same race and this can complicate matters for some punters. The good news is that Aladdel who finished 2nd, would have been my selection had I not done a saver thus possibly suggested a Yankee with the four horses, so it would ‘only’ have been a double had I taken that route! What I’ve decided to do with the multi’s as in when to recommend them, I will only ever recommend at multi when we are in profit for the month, I think this makes more sense financially and if you feel you want to do them anyway whether we are in profit or not then obviously it’s your choice (I do them every time as do many members).

2:30 Carlisle, Perfect Charm - Lost
1pt win @ 15.00 BetVictor, WilliamHill, 10Bet, BetHard, SkyBet
Had little chance against a couple of potentially classy colts on her debut, but she did quite well and wasn’t beaten all that far considering she broke slowly. She’ll have learned plenty from that experience and gets to race on softer ground tomorrow which, like her father, she might prefer. She’s racing against her own sex tomorrow and any improvement on that racecourse debut run should see her in the mix.

3:00 Carlisle, Dream House - Lost
1pt win @ 7.00 BetVictor, WilliamHill, Boylesports, Betfred
Surprisingly weak in the market when we had him last time, perhaps because he’s not got the pace for 5f which looked to be the case after getting outpaced, but he stayed on nicely and looked a winner in the making. He’s up to 6f tomorrow against his elders and looks worth another bet.

Has raced just three times and makes his handicap debut tomorrow and although he’s finished closer to last than first each time, he’s shown definite signs of ability in his last two races where he was staying on nicely under an easy ride. Tomorrow’s ground is an unknown as he’s on good & gd/fm ground the last twice and gd/sft ground on his racecourse debut, but he hits the ground hard when he runs so it’s possible that he might like to get his toe into the soft ground which he’ll face tomorrow. Michael Bell his trainer has a fantastic record at this track especially with his 3yo’s which sits at 8 winners from 16 runners and a 50% s/r (though helped by India winning 3 times) and if Platform Nineteen can handle tomorrow’s ground then I think he’ll have an excellent chance of making it 9 from 17.

6:50 Nottingham, Just For The Craic - Lost
1pt win @ 15.00 BetVictor, Bet365, WilliamHill, 10Bet, BetHard
Has run just three times since returning from a long break and fared quite well on the first two runs, however he was well beat last time at Windsor but that’s easily excused as he looked to take a false step when travelling well and lost his balance. He should relish tomorrow’s conditions having won twice on easy ground with the best of those on soft at Bath and with this being the trainers only (and first) runner at the track, I think he can give the warm fav a run for his money.

8:20 Nottingham, Fitzrovia - Won
2pts win @ 2.88 BetVictor, Skybet, 888Sport, Betway
Won easily last time despite the saddle slipping and his jockey doing well to stay aboard. He’s running under a 5lb penalty tomorrow but as his mark was ready to drop 3lb after his last race it means he’s racing off just a 2lb higher mark for a 4 lengths win. There’s a few less exposed rivals in this race compared to last, but he’s obviously a much better horse on soft ground and won that last race going away at the line, so if he can repeat something similar over this longer trip tomorrow it should make him hard to beat.

2:30 Royal Ascot, Le Brvido - Lost
2pts win @ 7.50 BetVictor, BlackType, Unibet, Boylesports
Caught the eye in the Lockinge at Newbury last time staying on well from the rear, possibly on the worst strip of ground, but definitely away from the main action and wide of the group after getting briefly stuck behind runners. He’s unexposed and already a Royal Ascot winner when winning the 2017 Jersey Stakes where he was always up with the strong pace. There might not be a great deal of pace on tomorrow, but he’s a versatile type that’s proven that he can be ridden anywhere in the field unlike a few of his rivals, and with leading Royal Ascot jockey Ryan Moore retaining the ride, I think he can get us off to a winning start.

2:45 Thirsk, Al Suil Eile - Lost
1pt win @ 5.00 BetVictor, Bet365, WilliamHill
Was a bit keen and possibly needed the run on his return from two months out last time at Carlisle which no doubt blunted his finishing effort when coming with a run inside the final furlong over a mile and as a result weakened late. He’s dropping to 7f tomorrow and from a handy high draw I think he’ll go well for his in form trainer.

3:40 Royal Ascot, Imprimis - Lost
1pt win @ 13.00 WilliamHill, Betfred
A top class sprint featuring lots of familiar faces that all look to be priced up accordingly, so I’m going to take a chance on American raider Imprimis, who did well to get up and beat the Wesley Ward trained ‘Bound For Nowhere’ last time at Keeneland, and who’s around 10/1 for the Diamond Jubilee on Saturday. He stumbled from the gate that day and had to come wide to make his challenge, but he won quite cosily in the end and looks like a rapidly improving horse. Frankie Dettori rides tomorrow and he looks worth risking on his first visit to the UK.

3:55 Thirsk, Hurricane Ali - Lost
1pt each way @ 67.00 Betfair SB, PaddyPower, or 51.00 10Bet, BetHard, SportPesa
Well beat on his racecourse debut but he’s better than that as, after being outpaced in rear during the first half of the race, he was looking to go past horses when not getting a clear run initially, he then found a gap inside the final 100 yards to get passed two rivals as the winner was crossing the line. He’s got a couple of well bred rivals from top yards to beat so might find this tough, but that run which was on similar ground will have done him the world of good and if one, or both fail to give their running tomorrow, then he’ll have a live chance of springing a minor shock.

0.1pt e/w Yankee on the above.

5:00 Royal Ascot, Raising Sand - Placed
1pt each way @ 9.00 PaddyPower, SkyBet (7 places)
Ran a big race despite not being backed on his return to action over 7 here last time. Tomorrow’s extra furlong will suit him better added with the soft ground he should have ideal conditions to run a big race.

5:00 Royal Ascot, Afaak - Won
1pt each way @ 26.00 BetVictor, Bet365 (5 places)
2nd in this race last year but he’s not been seen since disappointing in the Cambridgeshire last October. He’s been gelded since and I don’t think that it’s coincidence that he’s being brought back to run in this race on his return, but more a possibility that he’s been running well at home. The ground is no worry and he looks a value risky bet.

5:00 Royal Ascot, Key Victory - Lost
1pt each way @ 19.00 Betfair SB, PaddyPower, Unibet (6 places)
A final selection that can’t go unbacked at his current price is Key Victory who is also returning from a break and was largely disappointing when last seen in Meydan, but his best race over there was over tomorrow’s trip. He performed quite well as a 3yo last year finishing midpack in the French Derby on soft ground after winning a listed race at Newmarket on good despite racing keenly. Tomorrow’s mile on soft ground could be ideal and there’s no better trainer than Charlie Appleby in having his horses ready to win on their return from a break. Gelded since and with James Doyle in the saddle he can’t go unbacked.

9:20 Ripon, Key Choice - Lost
1pt each way @ 151.00 Betfair SB, PaddyPower or 81.00 10bet, BetHard, SportPesa, RedZone, SportNation, MoPlay
A horse from ‘Hurricane Ali’s’ race who ran for us today (he’ll be buying us a drink in the future) and actually finished last, but he’s so much better than that. He had to be held up from his wide draw and raced very keenly for the first half of the race which left him with little left at the end of a well run 7f on soft ground, despite his jockey not throwing everything at him. That was a good novice race packed with top yard and tomorrow’s race looks nothing like that standard especially as the favs in the race are rated just 75 and the other was a well beat short priced fav last time. He’s dropping to 6f tomorrow on better ground and HUGE odds he has to be backed.

4:20 Royal Ascot, Thomas Hobson - Lost
1pt each way @ 21.00 BetVictor, Bet365, WilliamHill, BlackType, Boylesports
Has raced just once since giving tomorrow’s fav ‘Stradivarius’ a run for his money here last October where he looked unlucky not to finish closer and had he been racing over tomorrow’s longer trip, along with the soft/hvy ground, he might have beat him. The prep race he had in Germany where he finished second proved he’s ready for the bigger stage and although Stradivarius is a very special horse, I don’t think he’s unbeatable and he’ll never be more vulnerable than tomorrow over a trip he’s only tried once before and on ground that should make tomorrow’s race a very testing war of attrition especially if they go a decent pace, which was the case the last time he was beat in 2017 and over a 4f shorter trip.

5:00, Royal Ascot, Hot Team - Lost
1pt each way @ 81.00 BetVictor, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes (all pay 5 places)
With the ground the way it is after another deluge of rain this afternoon there’s likely going to to be a few shock winners over the next couple of days especially in many of the juvenile races and although it’s impossible to be confident about backing any 2/3 yo at any price given the soft ground, the trends of this race point towards avoiding favs (just one fav won in the last ten runnings and ten of the last sixteen favs have been unplaced) I’m happy to take a pop at one that’s proven on such ground rather than have a bet on a short priced horse that isn’t. Hot Team ran his best races as a 2yo on easy ground last year and despite failing to shine in either of his starts this year, he did still go off at 3/1 on his return which was a group 3 in Germany where he seemed to fare OK before weakening late on. He then went off at 25/1 for his all-weather debut last time and looked to get outpaced before starting to pick up again towards the end and looked to be crying out for the soft ground that’s served him so well in the past. He has that again tomorrow and although he might be a bit high in the weights, he’s a massive price and looks worth a small e/w tickle.

6:50 Leopardstown, Masalai - Lost
1pt win @ 13.00 Bet365, WilliamHill, 10Bet, BetHard, BlackType, SkyBet
Has run well enough on his two outings this year which have both been in much better company than tomorrow’s lineup. He’s down in trip tomorrow and if the first time visor can bring about a little improvement he won’t be far off.

3:55 Redcar, Tricorn - Lost
1pt each way @ 34.00 Bet365 or 26.00 WilliamHill
A n/r for us when Haydock was abandoned last time, a similar quality race tomorrow.

5:00 Royal Ascot, Spanish Aria - Lost
1pt each way @ 21.00 Betfair SB, PaddyPower, Boylesports (all pay 6 places)
Had a nightmare race after a slow start last time but clearly looked the best horse in the race despite finishing 6th and was possibly an unlucky loser after getting repeatedly hampered. Her form last year before that looks strong finishing 2nd to subsequent group 3 winner ‘Nausha’ and then winning at Chelmsford after again being a bit slow to get into stride. She’ll need to break better tomorrow but she has the conditions to help should she not and looks good value at around 20/1.

5:00 Royal Ascot, Magnetic Charm - Placed
1pt each way @ 10.00 Betfair SB, PaddyPower (6 places) or 10.00 Bet365 (5 places)
Has some strong form at group level including an unlucky 4th behind Derby 3th and well backed 2nd of today’s Ribblesdale ‘Fleeting’ before winning a listed race on her return to action last time. It’s surprising to see her stay in a handicap after showing such fine form especially as the 2nd of that last race ‘Twist ‘N’ Shake’ has been entered into tomorrow’s group 1 Coronation Stakes (currently 16/1). James Doyle retains the ride and if she can run to a similar level she must go close.

8:45 Ayr, Vee Man Ten - Placed
2pts each way @ 8.00 Ladbrokes, Coral, Boylesports (all pay 4 places)
Showed bright speed last time but never quite got home over 6f on heavy ground, then despite finishing well down the field the time before at York, I thought he fared quite well considering he was racing on the opposite site to the main action. that was a hot 3yo handicap and he takes a big drop in class tomorrow and with 4 places up for grabs he looks an e/w steal.

9:15 Ayr, Mujassam - Won
2pts win @ 4.00 BetVictor, Bet365, WIlliamHill, BetHard, BlackType
A moody type but he won last time with something to spare and once he’s in the groove he’s a very tough horse to beat, as shown last year by winning 5 races. He’s got a wide draw to cope with but the longer trip will suit and I think he’s got a very live chance of going in again.

2:00 Chepstow, Unplugged - Lost
1pt win @ 5.50 Betfair SB, PaddyPower or 5.00 BetVictor, WilliamHill
Starting to show what he can do now after running two solid races against quality opposition, with his latest run a good 5th when upped in trip behind a ready winner who finished 3rd behind Royal Ascot bound ‘Pondus’ the time before. The horse that finished 3rd in front of his last time has since franked the form with good effort at Haydock behind a royal winner and with tomorrow’s handicap looking nothing special I fancy him to get off the mark.

7:10 Windsor, Open Wide - Won
1pt win @ 11.00 Betfair SB, PaddyPower or 10.00 BetVictor, WilliamHill
Has shown in each of his races over 5f this year that he needs an extra furlong which he gets tomorrow at the sane track as his good 3rd here last year. He’ll need the race run to suit as well as luck being held up from his wide draw, but there looks to be plenty of pace in the inside stalls and if they can set the race up for a closer then Open Wide looks the horse to be on.

7:30 Freedom And Wheat - Lost
2pts win @ 9.50 BetVictor, WilliamHill
Jockey never looked bothered from his wide draw when we had him last time and conceded defeat very early, but he looked to have loads left in the tank at the end of the race and was obviously being saved for when he had a better draw. He has that tomorrow back over 6f and looks to have a big chance.

8:35 Wolverhampton, Calin’s Lad - Non Runner
1pt win @ 5.50 BetVictor, WilliamHill
Well beat last time on heavy ground over 7f but it’s his form before that which catches the eye when making his stable debut over 7f at this track finishing a good 2nd despite racing keenly. A nice draw in stall 2 down to 6f should hopefully see him go one better tomorrow.

Has had just two runs since returning from a break and although finishing well down the field, he looked to be badly outpaced both times before looking to stay on again under an easy ride. He tries tomorrow’s 7.5f trip for the first time so might not stay, but he’s a half brother to a 3-time 7f winner and he certainly shapes as though he might. He’s well drawn inn stall 1 and his trainer is in good form, plus his jockey is in red-hot form so the combination of all 4 angles makes him worth a bet at a huge price.

8:15 Newbury, Eligible - Lost
1pt win @ 8.00 BetVictor, PaddyPower, 888Sport
A non-runner for us last time because of the ground which I found surprising, much better ground tomorrow with the risk of heavy showers, and if one hits and effects the ground then I expect him to be taken out if that was really the case last time. Same grade tomorrow though with a tricky wide draw and a bigger field hence the 1pt win rather than the 2pts last time. This is what I said about him last time.

1pt win @ 7.50 BetVictor, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Coral, SkyBet, 888Sport
Has been holding his form pretty well on the turf on various types of ground, but I think he’s a better horse on this surface as shown when winning with plenty to spare the last time he raced on it at Wolverhampton back in November last year. He’s run well at this track and off just a 1lb higher mark than that win at Wolves he looks to have strong claims.

2:35 Nottingham, Zumurud - Lost
1pt win @ 7.00 BetVictor, Bet365, Ladbrokes, Coral, Betway
Has been running consistently well this year and proved that again last time in what was the best race he’d run in to date in a big field handicap at York. There looked to be a track bias that day as the high numbers seemed to struggle, but he did best of the horses racing on the worst of the ground to finish a never nearer 5th and with similar ground conditions tomorrow in what looks an easier assignment, he should go well with a nice high draw under Adam Kirby.

3:20 Newmarket, The Night Watch - Won
1pt win @ 4.00 WilliamHill, 10Bet, BetHard, Coral
Has had excuses for two below par runs since running well behind subsequent listed race 2nd Oxted (keen/ground) . But under what looks his optimum conditions tomorrow along with Ryan Moore in the saddle, I think he’s got a big chance of winning what looks a pretty poor race for the grade.

7:25 Leicester, Jimmy Greenhough - Placed

Has been on my radar for some time now after a couple of dodgy rides for his new dodgy yard, but despite there not being a penny for him last time at Nottingham he ran quite an eye catching race, staying on nicely from the rear after being held up from his wide draw. A much better draw tomorrow in a poor race, hopefully he’ll be given a positive ride on his second start after a wind op.

6:35 Newcastle, Copper Knight - Lost
1pt win @ 6.00 BetVictor, Bet365, SkyBet, SportPesa
Has returned better than ever this season and despite finishing 12th of 19 last time in the Epsom Dash I think he’d have gone close with a better start. He’s carrying lots of weight tomorrow and might be vulnerable, but he’s still only 5 years old and looks like he could be on his way to listed level or better and so long as he breaks better tomorrow I think he’s capable of winning and retaining the title he won last year when bolting up.

7:55 Newmarket, Zain Hana - Lost
1pt win @ 13.00 Betfair SB, PaddyPower or 11.00 BetVictor, Betfred
Better than the result on both her starts for new trainer John Butler, firstly she looked to stumble after travelling well into the race over this C&D in a hor handicap against the colts and then last time at Haydock in a decent listed race for fillies she came with a run widest and without cover before possibly tiring late on. She should be spot on for those two runs and now back down to handicap level for fillies, with Cieran Fallon taking off a valuable 7lb, she’s got plenty in her favour.

An extremely tight handicap but I’m going to side for a filly right at the bottom of the weights in the form of Trelinney, who caught the eye in a big way on her return to action at Kempton two starts back which, although just an apprentice handicap, it looked decent form for the grade. She then had plenty against her on her next outing at Goodwood upped to a mile 2f with the soft ground, as well as a stop-start gallop, but still managed to finish a meritable 4th. She’s up slightly in grade tomorrow, but the race looks nothing special and if she can build on those first to runs since a longish break then she should be in the mix.

I fancied Beyond Equal here to follow up his impressive win last time, but he’s a tad too short for my liking so I’m going to take a chance on JB having his first run after a wind op. He was once smart and looked to be a shrewd purchase for connections when running a big race on his first start for Robert Cowell in April last year but seems to have struggled since with just one notable effort when finishing a staying on 4th behind Tropics in January. he’s a horse that’s run well or won on four of his five starts after a break and with In form, and sought after jockey Kerrin McEvoy booked to ride, I think he looks worth risking at the the price.

2:00 Doncaster, Society Queen - Lost
1pt win @ 7.00 BetVictor, Bet365, WilliamHill, SportPesa
A tricky Filly to get right as she’s been either breaking slow over 5f and then staying on well or breaking better over 6f and then racing keenly. She’s hopefully got her right conditions tomorrow with a stiffer 5f on quick ground down in grade and if that’s the case then she should go well.

3:25 Sandown, Elarqam - Won
2pts win @ 3.00 Ladbrokes, Coral, Boylesports, Betway
Never really progressed from his Guineas 4th last year but he looks to be back in the groove this year with 3 good runs including an emphatic win at Goodwood and a good 3rd in a good quality Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot last time. This looks an easier test and he might not need to improve at all to win.

4:00 Sandown, Beringer - Lost

He’s raced on easy ground the last twice and ran Ok in a better handicap last time and drops into a 0-65 handicap tomorrow and if he can break well from his wide draw then he must go well and hopefully get off the mark under young Cieran Fallon.

Too keen on her return last time but she fared quite well considering in what was admittedly a pretty poor fillies race. Tomorrow’s claimer race is no better and down in trip with Nicola Currie riding she should fare better.

4:45 Pontefract, Jimmy Greenhough -Lost
2pts each way @ 7.00 Bet365, WilliamHill
Ran a big race for us last time and had to do plenty to get on the lead under an aggressive ride so did well to hang on for 2nd. There’s not much comp for the lead tomorrow so he’ll hopefully find it easier to get on the front end and if that’s the case then he could go one better. I’ve gone e/w because if ‘Meccas Gift’ can run to a similar level as last time with the blinkers retained then we could be playing for places.

Caught the eye under Kirby at Kempton in Feb where he was held up from his wide draw and raced a bit keenly after starting well and then despite finishing well beat last time despite staying on late, I thought he could have been ridden more aggressively during the first half of the race in order to stay in touch. Kirby is back on board tomorrow at his fav track and under a firmer ride I think he can go well.

8:40 Brighton, Urban Highway - Lost
2pts win @ 4.00 BetVictor, Bet365, WilliamHill, SkyBet
Struggled over 7f on easy ground last time but his form before that looks strong behind a well backed horse returning from a break under SDS. Just 2lb higher and down in grade with an in form jockey/trainer combo he should run a big race.

2:10 Lingfield, Invincible One - Lost
1pt win @ 17.00 BetVictor, WilliamHill, SkyBet
A fairly expensive purchase at £100K and shown glimmers of ability in a couple of juvenile races and although he hasn’t shown much in his two starts this year he’s shown enough to suggest he wants to run over a longer trip despite not really being bred for it. He’s down in grade tomorrow and if the signals are right for the extra trip then he should go well.

5:10 Lingfield, Sharp Talk - Lost
1pt win @ 21.00 BetVictor, Bet365, SkyBet
Slowly away in a good looking novice race at Wolves last time but was making up plenty of ground inside the final furlong under a fairly easy ride. Tomorrow’s race looks easier and if he’s learned anything from that initial experience he has to be in the reckoning tomorrow.

6:15 Kempton, Francisco Bay - Lost
1pt win @ 12.00 Bet365, Betway
Shown bits of form here as a 2yo last year in some hot novice races and has excuses for possibly not faring a little better in his last two visits where he raced wide last time and was given an easy time on his penultimate start where he finished 6th. He’s returned with two good runs after a break and although both were on soft ground over further, I’d like to think it’s more likely he’s a better/stronger horse this year rather than having a preference for easy underfoot conditions. He raced keenly last time and did well to go down by just over 3 lengths so tomorrows drop in trip/grade looks ideal.

Did amazingly well to finish 2nd last time in the Duke Of Edinburgh stakes at Royal Ascot after missing the break and having to come right around the field off the final bend to make his challenge. He’s due to go up 4lb but gets to race off the same mark tomorrow and if that effort hasn’t taken too much out of him then he must have a huge chance tomorrow.

5:45 Ascot, Breanski - Lost
1pt win @ 6.00 BetVictor, WilliamHill, Betfred, 10Bet
Ran a big race at York on ground softer than ideal last time and if he can run to that level tomorrow on more suitable ground down in grade, then he will take all the beating.

8:10 Chepstow, Oeil De Tigre - Lost
1pt win @ 3.75 BetVictor, Bet365, WilliamHill, SkyBet
Has been punching well above his weight this year but performing well including last time in a good quality 0-95 handicap at Windsor. A big drop in grade tomorrow and the only thing stopping me from going 2pts is his inexperienced jockey.

1:45 Ascot, Stone Of Destiny - Lost
1pt each way @ 17.00 Bet365, Ladbrokes (both pay 4 places)
He’s a bit of a monkey but he caught the eye in The Wokingham last time where he would have finished closer had he got a clear run. That was over 6f but I think he could be better suited by tomorrow’s 5f and if he settles OK and gets luck in the run he should have his ideal conditions to run a big race.

1:45 Ascot, Tis’ Marvelous - Won
1pt each way @ 7.50 BetVictor, WilliamHill, Betfred, Betway (all pay 5 places)
My main concern is a potential lack of pace and with there not being much pace in the low numbers then it could mean that they have little to follow and the field might end up coming stand side to follow the pace where ‘Watchable’ is the likely pace setter. If that transpires then the horse you want to be on is Tis’ Marvelous who chased him in The Wokingham to finish a good 2nd behind the progressive winner ‘Cape Byron’. Tomorrow’s drop to 5f could equal things out between him at Watchable but I still think he’ll have his measure and if the pace is sedate up front I think he could pull away under an aggressive Adam Kirby. He’s hardly a prolific winner with just 3 wins in 21 starts, but Ascot is his favourite track with form figures of 46412 and with 5 places on offer, he looks an e/w shoe-in.

2:05 York, Emblazoned - Lost
1pt win @ 6.00 BetVictor, WilliamHill, Ladbrokes, Betway
Ran well on his return behind the potentially smart ‘Shabaaby’ and despite finishing last on his next outing in the group 1 Diamond Jubilee I think the first time blinkers were mainly to blame as he raced quite keenly behind a hot pace. He’s that class horse of the field having finished 3rd in the group 1 Commonwealth Cup last year and dropping into listed class down to 5f should hopefully see him win. A wide draw in stall 10 is the only negative as he might be marooned away from where the pace is on the other side, but he normally breaks well and if his jockey can get him in a prominent posi behind the leaders I think it should set him up nicely.

2:20 Newmarket, Victory Command - Lost
1pt win @ 8.50 BetVictor, Bet365, WilliamHill
The most exposed of these three year olds and could be vulnerable, but judging by today’s results he could have a big advantage over his rivals being drawn close to the rail, as was the case for another Mark Johnstone trained horse today in ‘Raffle Prize’ as well as ‘Veracious’ over the same trip. He won last time at Hamilton and was put up a hefty 6lb for just a 3/4 length victory, but he was still an easy winner despite dossing in front last time’s and with him being a listed race winner I think he could still be well handicapped and if Ryan Moore can secure the lead on the rail he could be hard to pass.

3:10 Chester, Vanbrugh - Lost
1pt win @ Betfair SP
Well beat in The Wokingham last time but his performance in that race can be upgraded by some way in that, he was the clear leader in the far side group after an injection of pace which probably took it’s toll inside the final furlong where he weakened. He’s up to 7f tomorrow on a sharp track which should be ideal as was the case when winning in a very good time at Thirsk when having his first run for Charlie Hills, and although drawn widest it shouldn’t be a problem in this small field and if he can show the same injection of pace as last time it should reap better rewards at this much sharper track.
