Arsenal vs Newcastle United Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Arsenal will look to bounce back here after failing to break down West Ham midweek. Despite a lot of possession, the Gunners never threatened too much. Newcastle have now lost seven of eight winless games after their midweek loss to Everton.
Game: Arsenal vs Newcastle United
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Kick-off: Saturday 16th November, 3.00PM
Arsenal’s three games without a win have confirmed what we probably already knew about the Gunners: they aren’t remotely good enough to be thinking about title challenges. With the circulation of January departures circulating, the only aim can be bringing Champions League football back to the Emirates.
One positive that Arsenal can take from their midweek game was that West Ham were never going to trouble them. Wenger’s men dominated position and despite being without Mustafi were very comfortable against an improving West Ham side. But Arsenal fans will tell you that’s grasping at draws.
Newcastle could pull as many as four points clear off the relegation zone with a win, but their poor form at present would certainly make that a surprise. The Toon have lost seven of eight and won just one away game all season which came at struggling Swansea.
Arsenal are slim pickings at best odds of 3/10 with Bet365 and that was to be expected. The draw is available at 21/4 through Unibet whilst Newcastle are a chunky 12/1 also with Unibet.
It’s hard to see past Arsenal winning this game. It’s become all the more important due to their recent slump, but they have the perfect opponent in Newcastle. United are long past being determined and even desperate. It’s a sorry state of affairs for Newcastle at the moment and it feels like there are easier games on the horizon than this one. Giving away goals is their biggest problem and they’ve allowed the home side to net in both halves in their last three games.
Back our Free Betting Tip: Arsenal score both halves at 4/5 with Bet365
It might be hard to trust Arsenal on the handicap, especially if Mustafi isn’t playing. West Ham never threatened but Newcastle have been scoring goals on their travels and took the lead at Stamford Bridge. What followed was the usual capitulation, but they might just push Arsenal into a game at stages here. But in the end, the Gunners have too much attacking quality.
Back our Score Prediction: Arsenal to win 3-1 at 10/1 with Bet365
Olivier Giroud didn’t really grasp his opportunity when starting against West Ham in midweek and you have to feel Alexandre Lacazette will be back in the team here whilst Giroud will revert to his super-sub role. Lacazette will need to start taking more chances if he’s to hold on to the starting birth though.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Alexandre Lacazette at 3/4 with Coral
