Aston Villa vs Fulham Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Both teams come in to this game on the back of big results. Villa won only their second game of the season with a late away win at Reading, whilst Fulham toppled second place Norwich City at the Cottage. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.
Game:Aston Villa vs Fulham
Kick-off:Saturday 22nd October, 3pm
Aston Villa finally won again midweek when they travelled to Reading. A late, late penalty handed them an unlikely 2-1 win that gave the club a major boost. Villa’s habit of throwing games away and self-destructing has followed them from the Premier League in to the Championship. Might now be the time for Villa to start their climb back towards the big time?
I don’t know. I don’t know if this club can fix its problems over night with a win over an inconsistent Reading side who don’t score enough goals. I was never a fan of the gung ho approach the new owner had from the start, and he’s seemed to fade in to the background more as this winless run progressed.
Prior to Tuesday it was 10 without a win. Only losing two of 11 or remaining unbeaten at home due to five straight draws doesn’t wash with Villa fans or myself. They’re edging towards getting it together, but they’re already out of the automatic promotion picture.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Aston Villa are best odds 21/20 to win at home here but many won’t jump to back this side to win back to back. The draw is available at 13/5 with Bet365, whilst visitors Fulham are best odds 14/5 with William Hill.
Fulham’s marvellous start to the season is long gone, but it’s at home where they’re starting to have troubles. Away from home they remain unbeaten in seven games and on paper that’s as good as anyone else in this league. Let’s remember Villa have already dropped points at home to far worse sides, and most of them from winning positions.
Fulham found themselves 1-0 down twice on their travels before coming back to win or draw. They fire power has dug them out with 12 goals in seven away games, and their defence hasn’t been bad either.Back Fulham 0.25AH at 19/17 with Bet Victor.
Whilst games have been tighter more often than not for Fulham they threw the form book out the window and played out a six goal thriller at the weekend. They may want to tighten things up, but they won’t panic as long as they’re scoring. Villa have seen both teams score in their last five at home. Back a 2-2 draw at 16/1 with William Hill.Fulham are finding goals from all over the pitch this season. That’s a positive, but I feel someone needs to step up and fill McCormack’s boots. They don’t really have a ready-made replacement for a 25 goal man, but Chris Martin has been about at this level and knows how to score. He’s yet to burst in to life but he has scored in his last two games.Back Chris Martin to score at best odds of 23/10 with Stan James.
