Bayern Munich vs Celtic Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview

Match Preview

Bayern Munich will be frustrated with how their season has gone so far as they find themselves five points behind the domestic pace. Their 3-0 loss to PSG didn’t help the mood in Bavaria, and the home faithful will be expecting a comfortable win here.

Game: Bayern Munich vs Celtic

Venue: Allianz Arena

Kick-off: Wednesday 18th October, 7.45PM

Whilst it’s clear Bayern Munich are hardly in crisis, they have suffered their worst start to a Bundesliga and Champions League campaign for quite some time. The 3-0 loss away to PSG coupled with last season's failings away from home in UCL play do suggest that Munich are just slightly a fader force without Guardiola.

Celtic have produced some magical European nights at Celtic Park and have killed off some giants of the game, but those nights feel a distant memory in this group. The world's most expensive attack totally wiped the floor with Celtic, but the hoops did bounce back very well with a 3-0 win over Anderlecht.

This is not a game Celtic would be expected to win, and there is probably a reluctant acceptance that in such a group, only a handful of British teams would be expected to qualify. Beating Anderlecht at home is of major importance to their Europa League hopes, but they’ll also need to be mindful of keeping things tight here for goal difference purposes.

Reasons for Betting Tips

Bayern Munich are very slim odds at 1/10 with Bet365 whilst the draw can be backed at 9/1 with Unibet. Celtic are a massive 33/1 with Ladbrokes to pull off the shock of the century.

Despite Bayern Munich’s inconsistencies, there are few scenarios that lead us to believe they’ll be tested here. Bayern Munich aren’t at their best going forward yet, but they’ve still made mincemeat of some sides domestically. Mainz and Schalke have been on the wrong end of 3-0 and 4-0 score lines, but only Barcelona have beaten Celtic by such margins amidst their last 28 away UCL games.

Anderlecht were beaten 3-0 here and 10 of Bayern Munich’s last 16 home Champions League wins have been with a clean sheet. Although Celtic can be tough to beat, they have failed to net in their last eight Champions League losses. And it’s safe enough to assume this game will result in a loss.

Although Celtic are very rarely toppled by such margins even in Europe, Bayern Munich could be in a rather unforgiving mood here and it all depends on how early the first goal comes. Celtic could struggle to create in-front of goal, and it’s obvious the German side will see a lot of chances come their way.

Back our Score Prediction: Bayern Munich 3-0 at 5/1 with Betfred

Robert Lewandowski has just set a record for most goals in a qualifying campaign to take Poland to the World Cup, and the deadly Pole has netted 77 goals in 83 competitive games for Bayern Munich over the last two seasons. Including International competition, that’s a return of 107 goals in 108 games. It’s obvious where you anytime goal scorer money should go here.
