Bolton vs MK Dons Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Bolton top league one after a string of come from behind wins. Their fixture list starts to look a little tougher now and they’ll need to be more clinical. MK Dons are looking for their third away win in four games. Below is our match preview, prediction and betting tips.

Game: Bolton Wanderers vs MK Dons
Venue: Reebok Stadium
Kick off: Saturday 10th September, 3pm

Fleetwood, AFC Wimbledon and Southend all took the lead against Bolton who have made a habit of making slow starts at home so far. Wanderers went on to take seven points from those three games come the end and find themselves top of the early season table.

Although the Dons will be looking for their third away win in four, the reality is they’ll probably suffer their fourth overall loss in their last five games. They trailed Northampton 3-0 by half-time last week and they’ve made tough work of some easier fixtures (with the exception of Millwall and Bradford).

Bolton have followed in the footsteps of Leeds, Blackpool, Portsmouth, Luton, Yeovil and a host of others from recent years, suffering two relegations in the space of just three seasons to find themselves two leagues lower than they were.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Bolton are the favourites here but you can get them at a good price. Bet Victor offer 23/20 on the home win. The draw is available at 5/2 with Boylesports and MK Dons to cause a small upset can be backed at 11/4 with William Hill.

The Dons were a dominant force the last time they escaped League One, but they were in a very different position to what they’re in now. The visitors have a lack of momentum having struggled early in the season on the back of their relegation, whilst last time out they were seen as a League One club on the up.

Bolton seem to have taken it in their stride and on paper should never have been relegated with the squad they had. They have a lot of young talent mixed with Premier League experience, and they’ve settled well in to life in League One. They looked fantastic against Sheffield United and Bristol Rovers and showed how much character they have in the three games where they came from behind.

Bolton do need to kick the habit of allowing early goals though, because defensively MK have looked good in the games they’ve won away from home. They were terrible last week, but even then they tightened up in the second half and pulled it back to 3-2. Both teams to score is priced at 4/5 with Bet365 and that’s our free betting tip.

I think Bolton can keep their momentum going for at least a few more weeks with the fixtures they have. It’s nine goals allowed in four games for MK now, so I worry for them defensively. Bolton to win 2-1 is available at 8/1 with Bet Victor.

The two games I’ve watched Bolton this season, striker, Gary Madine has stood out most for me. Spearing has been brilliant, but everything about Madine’s game makes him a major threat to League One defences. Back Gary Madine to score any time at odds of 15/8 with Paddy Power.
