Brentford vs Barnsley Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Barnsley’s flying start to the season feels a very long way away now. The Tykes are winless in and will now travel to face a Brentford side who themselves haven’t lost in six home games. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.

Brentford vs Barnsley
Venue:Griffin Park
Kick-off:Saturday 22nd October, 3pm

Five wins in six games has quickly gave way for five losses in six games for Barnsley, who have gone from one extreme to the other. They’d have fancied their chances last week when Marley Watkins gave them a 1-0 lead and then Sam Winnall reacted quickly to the leveller to make it 2-1.

They went on to allow Fulham the key to Oakwell Stadium and three goals in the process after that as signs that the Tykes just might struggle at this level after all begin to show. It was their form at Oakwell as opposed to away from home, where they’ve already lost four of six.

Brentford had managed four and five goal hauls prior to their game Wigan, so you can imagine fans disgust when they didn’t run out 6-0 winners. Barnsley might not be quite that charitable, but Bee’s fans should be treated to a return to goal scoring form with the way things are going for the Yorkshire side.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

William Hill are best odds for a Brentford win here, offering 19/20. The draw can be backed at 14/5 with Bet Victor whilst the visitors Barnsley are available at 10/3 with Boylesports.

Form comes and goes regularly at this level so fans of Barnsley shouldn’t panic. It only takes several wins on the spin to propel you to the edge of the playoffs or several losses to leave you looming above the relegation zone, and that still holds true come January and February. It’s a tight league.

Their early season form has them in a reasonably comfortable position in mid-table, but it is only four points off the drop zone. They won’t want this poor form to extend any longer, but they may have to be patient. No side has won at Griffin Park this season, with even the in-form Preston suffering a 5-0 defeat here.Back Brentford at 19/20 with William Hill.

It seems like such an obvious choice to bet on Brentford this weekend and whilst I believe they will win, I don’t think Barnsley will completely roll over. They took the lead twice against Fulham and they’ve scored 10 goals in their six away games. We should see plenty of action at both ends. Back Brentford to win 3-1 at 14/1 also with William Hill.If it wasn’t for Dwight Gayle’s fantastic start to the season, we’d probably be talking about Scott Hogan. The 24-year-old arrived only made seven appearances due to injury last season, but still managed seven goals. With 13 appearances under his belt this year he’s already topped that total with eight.Back Scott Hogan to score at odds of 7/5 with Stan James.
