Match Preview

Stoke City finished for the International break on a high as they won away at Watford and came back twice to hold Leicester. Brighton can be pleased with their efforts at this level and only Man City have won on this ground.

Game: Brighton & Hove Albion vs Stoke City

Venue: AMEX Stadium

Kick-off: Monday 20th November, 8.00PM

West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United have been toppled whilst Everton and Southampton have been held. Brighton’s back to back away wins for the first time in the Premier League saw them score four goals without response.

It may only be 11 games into the season, but it’s already crystal clear that the solid foundations and principles this Brighton team have been built on will be enough to keep them in the Premier League this season. The defence has only been breached seven times in nine games and the strikers are scoring.

Stoke have been hit and miss. They’ve been tough to beat in certain games, but they’ve put together no run of form. They lost five of six between September and mid-October including a game against Championship Bristol City and a combined 11 goal thrashing from City and Chelsea.

Reasons for Betting Tips

Brighton continue to be undervalued by the bookies as they’re best odds 31/20 with Betfair. The draw is offered at 11/5 with Betfred. We don’t know which Stoke will turn up, but they’re available at 21/10 with Paddy Power.

The odds are almost an insult to Brighton, but the bookmakers are being very slow to adjust. Brighton will inevitably dip in and out of form as a new side, but Stoke have shown themselves to be horrible defensively far too often this season. Brighton are rock solid lately and they should be a firmer favorite at home.

Based on current form, there’s no disputing Brighton would win this game more often than their odds suggest, so there is value backing the home side. Albion would have had more of an opportunity to rest up and train than Stoke this week, some of whose star players had big games abroad.

Back our Free Betting Tip: Brighton to win at 31/20 with Betfair

Stoke have shown they’re capable of being a resolute side, and they’ve shown they're capable of falling apart. Brighton are at a level where Stoke should feel comfortable attacking, but they know they’ll spend large parts on the back foot. These teams could potentially cancel each other out, but it’s Brighton who are more trustworthy at the back and have more recent experience in breaking down sides.

Back our Score Prediction: Brighton to win 1-0 at 13/2 with Betfair

Glenn Murray has been an absolute menace in-front of goal recently scoring four goals in his last three games. His return to form is key to Brighton’s survival and his recent performances should mean he is a shoe in to start here.

Back our Scorer Prediction: Glenn Murray at 39/19 with Bet365
