Game: Bristol City vs Cardiff City
Venue: Ashton Gate Stadium
Kick-off: Saturday 4th November, 12.00PM
Bristol City and Cardiff have been one of the more consistent sides so far in this Championship season, but just a couple of losses could see them drop to 6th or lower. Such is the competitiveness of the Championship this season, it’s so tough to call this game, and it should be a stern test of both sides credentials.
Cardiff City look so adept at being a Neil Warnock side. City have been watertight at home this season, and their midweek win over Ipswich extended their home run to 12 wins, five draws and just two losses in the calendar year of 2017. But away from home they’ve shown themselves to be slightly more inconsistent, so this’ll be a test.
Bristol City have also picked up where they left off last season after pulling clear of the latest in a long line of relegation battles. The Robins had started the season almost as well as this before falling into the abyss. But Cardiff will be well drilled and confident, and this is a fixture they do well in.
Bristol City are drifting favorites at best odds of 10/7 with Unibet, whilst the draw can be backed at 5/2 with Betfair. Cardiff, the visitors, are available to back at 15/8 with Betfred.
Two struggling sides meet in a high scoring affair that Cardiff stole at the death last season, extending their run against Bristol City to six wins and two draws in nine meetings. But this is an affair between two much improved sides, both conceding far fewer goals. Both sides have allowed allowed more than a solitary goal in their respective home and away fixtures on one occasion this season.
Bristol City have failed to score in their last two home league games, being thrashed by Leeds United and failing to break down a defensive minded Burton side. City may well come up against a mix of similar approaches here, as Cardiff will look to remain disciplined and hurt them on the counter attack. Bristol City have shown in recent games at Ashton Gate that they aren’t always at their best with a surplus of possession so these two teams could cancel each other out.
Back our Free Betting Tip: Under 2.5 Goals at 4/5 with Betfred
Leeds put three past Bristol City here recently, but it’s not in Cardiff’s nature to play so expansively. They will however look to counter as Leeds did, but they do lack that level of attacking threat on the road. City will be on the front foot but that didn’t lead to success against Leeds, Villa or Burton recently. Only Preston have put more than one goal past Cardiff on their travels this season.
Back our Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw at 5/1 with Bet365
Both sides have scored goals from all over the pitch, but Bobby Reid is an ever present for Bristol City whilst Kenneth Zohore has the presence to cause any defence problems. When you look at the important role Zohore plays in this Cardiff team, you can’t help but feel the big man should be taking a few more chances than he has been.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Kenneth Zohore to score at 2/1 with Betfair
