Burnley vs Manchester United Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Burnley are all but safe and could potentially not earn another point and survive. That’s not the sort of mentality that Sean Dyche preaches and what better way to secure Premier League survival. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.
Game: Burnley vs Manchester United
Venue: Turf Moor
Kick-off: Sunday 23rd April, 2.15PM
Burnley have only been beaten here four times all season long. Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal accounted for three of those whilst Swansea caught them cold early in the season. This will not be an easy game for Mourinho’s side who drew 0-0 with the Clarets at Old Trafford, and have a short turn around from their Europa League tie.
Anderlecht’s late equaliser has made for much more of a tie in the second leg at Old Trafford and it could be a cagey affair. United will need their big guns on the pitch and it may be a battle at times. That won’t serve them well because Burnley will make things even tougher when United visit Turf Moor.
Burnley’s last two stints in the Premier League have seen them beat Manchester United 1-0 and also hold them to a 0-0 draw here. Their 0-0 draw at Old Trafford was their first away point in the modern era and was a preview of things to come in this game perhaps.
Burnley are a big, big price at 6/1 with Coral given their exploits at home this season whilst a second draw against United can be backed at 14/5. Manchester United are slim odds and can be backed at 8/15 with Coral.
It’s a big big price on Burnley when you consider some of the results they’ve picked up this season. Even in their losses to City and Spurs there were turning points in those games. Burnley could have taken a lead to hang on to against Spurs and perhaps should have led Man City 2-0, and Dyche’s men have been impeccable once they get themselves out in front.
Manchester United have been picking up more points away from home than at home though and remained unbeaten in 23 Premier League games. Burnley, like so many others, have snatched draws at Old Trafford but have found themselves getting picked off at home when playing a more expansive game against United. United are coming here off the back of a tricky tie though and could even risk resting a few bigger names. This has all the makings of a ‘shock’..
Back our Free Betting Tip: Burnley at 6/1 with Coral.
Goals are sometimes hard to come by in Burnley games but only Spurs have stopped them from scoring in their last 11 here. United have allowed goals in five of their last nine away but have still won three of those, so a few goals might not be such a surprise after all.
Back our Score Prediction: a 2-1 Burnley win at odds of 20/1 with Bet365
It’s unclear how United will line-up in attack but we can be certain that Boyd, Barnes, Vokes and Gray will feature for Burnley. All of those have five or more goals this season and most of those have come in the second half of the season and at Turf Moor.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Sam Vokes to score at 7/2 with Coral.
