Denmark vs Republic of Ireland Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview
Denmark and Republic of Ireland will both have been pleased with their draw ahead of this game, as it has the feel of one that both sides could realistically win. Ireland will hope to draw on the spirit that saw them leave Wales with a win.
Game: Denmark vs Republic of Ireland
Venue: Telia Parken
Kick-off: Saturday, 11th November, 7.45PM
Republic of Ireland were exemplary when winning 1-0 in Wales. It was a perfect away performance, and given the way that Serbia performed in the group, Ireland have to be proud of their efforts that saw them finish above Wales and Austria in a tough group.
Denmark will be disappointed that a loss at home to Montenegro and a frustrating final matchday draw with Romania, as just a 1-0 win in each game - both winnable games - would have seen Denmark go through ahead of Poland on goal difference.
But the Poles were first class in qualifying and Lewandowski was unplayable, so Denmark will be happy to have recorded a comfortable second place finish. The draw has been kind to both sides who will both fancy their chances of progressing to the 2018 World Cup.
Denmark are the favorites at best odds 3/4 with Betfred whilst the draw is available at 9/4 through Paddy Power. Bettors will be weary of Ireland after their win in Wales, and they can be backed at 5/1 with Paddy Power.
Whether or not Ireland win this game, the odds feel too high. Denmark are on paper better than the Wales side that Ireland beat, but the Irish have made a habit of picking up some big results in key games on their travels. Their draw in Germany, the wins in Wales and Austria, and the historic 1-0 win over Italy all provide inspiration here.
Denmark are tough to beat at home having lost just three times in 44 home World Cup qualifiers. A couple of those were recently though, and Denmark did lose to Montenegro in their group stage. However the Danes are unbeaten in nine games in all competitions and do hold an advantage ahead of the sides first meeting since 2007.
Because the odds are so in favor of Denmark, there’s value in the asian handicap market. Republic of Ireland are not likely to be blown away by many teams in a situation like this, which they did demonstrate in France the last time they played a high profile qualifier.

You just know the Republic of Ireland are coming here to dig in and have what they hold. Their scoring chances are likely to come via set pieces or counter attacking opportunities, but there’ll be no flowing, expansive football on show from O’Neill’s men here. Ireland will look to protect their goal and take a chance if it comes their way.
Back our Score Prediction: 1-1 Draw at 6/1 with Betfair
Republic of Ireland’s attacking injury crisis gave Daryl Murphy extended opportunities in the group stage games and he took them. Add to that that Ireland will need someone to hold the ball up and relieve some pressure here, it makes sense to include the aerial threat of Murphy from the start.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Daryl Murphy to score at 21/5 with Bet365
