Derby County vs Hull City Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Derby County and Hull City both find themselves on seven points after five games so far this season, with neither side finding real consistency at home or on the road just yet.
Game: Derby County vs Hull City
Venue: iPro Stadium
Kick-off: Friday 8th September
Neither side has found an overall consistency just yet with a few wins, draws and losses to each of their names. Both sides have looked more comfortable when playing at home where Hull have won two of three high scoring games, but they’ve failed to win away in three games so far.
Derby County have picked up a pair of wins but only one of them came here at the iPro Stadium. Wolves, just like they did at Hull, came here and produced a sterling display to leave with all three points, which perhaps demonstrates that neither of these team are quite fulfilling their potential as possible promotion candidates.
Derby are the bookmaker's favourites at odds of 1/1 with Bet365 whilst the draw can be backed at 5/2 with Bet Victor. The away side, Hull, have managed just one point in three away from home and they’re as big as 3/1 with Betfair.
Derby County have only lost two of their last 20 home games but in recent years they have made a habit of making a slow start to the Championship campaign. It took Derby 10 games to register just two wins last year so improvements have already been made as they sit just one win outside of the playoffs.
Hull City’s most impressive results on paper have come at home against softer sides in Burton Albion and Bolton, and apart from toppling two of the bookies favourites to be battling it out down the bottom, Hull have to impress. City did look strong in the second half away to Villa, but could easily have trailed 2-0 in that game.
But given the form of both sides so far it’s perhaps a stretch to feel comfortable backing Derby at such short odds. Neither side are building the trust of bettors just yet and if this was the reverse fixture, but there has certainly been a glut of goals where the visitors are concerned and Derby suffered some real defensive setbacks at the tail end of last season.
Back our Free Betting Tip: Hull CIty +0.5AH at 9/10 with Bet365
Hull may have made the most of some shoddy defending from visiting sides, but City’s they’ve hardly been putting up much of a wall themselves. Three of their games already have seen four or more goals and both teams have scored in four of their five games, so this could well be an open game. Derby have given away 17 goals to their last 12 visitors.
Back our Score Prediction: 2-2 Draw at 13/1 with Bet365
Derby County have had several different goalscorers so far this season but no one has really taken control yet. David Nugent netted twice in one game for Derby, but it’s the visitors who have a more constant threat in young Jared Bowen. He scored two of Hull’s four in their last home game and struck a big equaliser away to Villa. Defensive frailties meant his equaliser away to QPR meant nothing in the end, but he’s been a constant threat to opposing defences so far this season.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Jared Bowen to score at best odds 3/1 with Bet365
