Derby vs Leeds United Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Leeds United and Derby County are two sides heading in different directions, but Leeds fan fear the International break came at the wrong time for them. Certainly not for Derby, who have re-grouped and appointed a new manager. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.
Derby County vs Leeds United
Venue: iPro Stadium
Kick-off: Saturday 15th October, 3pm
Derby have won only two games so far this season, edging out Preston on the road and then toppling a poor, poor Cardiff side 2-0, just like Leeds United did. Derby obviously had issues on and off the field and now old boss Steve McClaren is set to take the reigns from the departed Nigel Pearson. It's a decision that hasn't been met with open arms by all county fans, with a percentage believing Powell was the obvious candidate for the job. Still, it's always a fresh start with a new man at the helm and it usually produces a response from the players. County will be hoping for just that when they host Leeds this weekend.Leeds United will hope they haven't been robbed of momentum by the International break. They'd won seven of 10 and four of six on their travels. They've historically had troubles against County, at least until recently. United have won only lost one of their last five meetings.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Derby County are 17/20 with William Hill and given their circumstances and form, I'm surprised they're so clearly favoured. The draw can be backed at 13/5 with Bet Victor whilst Leeds must be considered value at 4/1 with Bet365.
I do think that whilst the appointment of a new manager gives most clubs a boost, McClaren is a manager that's been here very recently and not everyone will be thrilled to see him return. I do think that if Derby make a slow start here or even fall behind, then the crowds could well get on their backs once again and make it a tougher afternoon. Back Leeds United +0.5AH at 21/20 with Bet365.
Derby have broke Leeds down twice or more seven times in the last nine games, but United are starting to look a much meaner unit with the partnership of Bartley and Jansonn growing. Leeds have allowed just four goals in their last seven games. Derby have lost their last four at home and failed to win their first three, with even League Two Carlisle taking a point. It's not easy to suddenly turn that kind of form on it's head.Back a 1-1 draw at odds of 5/1 with Bet Victor.
Chris Wood, scorer of an 88th minute here last season, looks head and shoulders above any Derby striker at the moment and has had a good week with New Zealand. He seems the most likely scorer here.Back Chris Wood to score at odds of 2/1 with Bet365.
