Ipswich vs Fulham Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Match Preview

Ipswich are one of several unbeaten teams in the Championship at present, although they did suffer a 2-1 defeat midweek to Crystal Palace. Fulham have failed to win in four league games and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at home to Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.
Game: Ipswich vs Fulham
Venue: Stadium of Light
Kick-off: Saturday, 26th August, 5.30PM
With teams like Leeds United and Villa priced around 2/1 to make the top six, it’s mind boggling to grasp why Fulham are still comfortable odds on. Performances have not been good for Jokanovic’s side so far this season which is a familiar feeling for Fulham fans after the past few seasons, and the worst may be yet to come. Fulham won just one of their first 11 last season.
Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich side are one you could be forgiven for writing off a little bit. It didn’t appear from the outside looking in that the Tractor Boys were as well prepared as other teams. Their pre-season was awful in terms of results alone, although clearly Town are very well prepared after all.

Reasons for Betting Tips

Bookmakers have given little consideration to form here would seem, as Ipswich are priced at 11/5 with Bet365. The draw can be backed at 7/2 with Sky Bet whilst Fulham are favourites at 6/5 with Bet365.

Brentford are winless, Millwall are nearly promoted and Barnsley are certain to struggle and Birmingham have been hit and miss under new management. Wherever you look, you can find a reason why Ipswich aren’t truly as good as their current form, but I think we all know that. No two games are the same and easy wins do not exist in the Championship, so four straight wins against anyone is an achievement.

If Ipswich can compete against a Fulham side tipped to do well then they’ll be taken a bit more seriously by the bookies, but Fulham themselves are convincing no one right now and their momentum is heading in the polar opposite direction to Ipswich’s. Winning games and scoring goals can do a lot to the mindset, and these two teams are in very different places ahead of this game, so you shouldn’t overlook Ipswich.
Back our Free Betting Tip: Ipswich Town +0.25AH at 9/10 with Bet365

Goals are what you expect in a Fulham game but it’s all gone quiet. Fulham just can’t find the net and whilst they aren’t leaking at the other end, they aren’t keeping teams out, either. A fortunate 0-0 against Leeds recently was followed by 1-0 losses to Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol Rovers.

Ipswich have got by with their goal scoring prowess rather than defensive ability so far, putting two past Barnsley and four past Millwall, but they have managed two clean sheets in two home games.

Back our Score Prediction: Ipswich 1-0 at 10/1 with Bet365

Waghorn, McGoldrick and Garner have scored 10 goals in all competitions between them, some of which have involved Freddie Sears, which means Mick McCarthy’s front four isn’t likely to change. Fulham have been playing OK in spells and they are creating chances, but they haven’t been at all sharp or clinical enough yet this season, so we have to back an Ipswich man here.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Back Joe Garner to score at 15/8 with Paddy Power
