Ivory Coast vs Morocco Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview
This is the final round of matches from the African Qualification group stage, where just one side progresses from each group. Morocco need just a point here to keep chasing Ivory Coast at bay.
Game: Ivory Coast vs Morocco
Venue: Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny
Kick-off: Saturday 11th November, 5.30PM
Ivory Coast have shown their usual inconsistency with a fantastic win 3-0 win away to Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s Gabon side, before losing 2-1 at home to them just three days later. Gabon were sure of not qualifying after the 3-0 loss, which was only Ivory Coast’s second in the group stage. The other came at home to Mali.
Whilst they’ll kick themselves over their 0-0 draw away to a Mali side they beat so comfortably and indeed the 2-1 loss to Gabon, the Ivory Coast are at least in the position of knowing if they win at home they will top the group. It’d be harsh on Morocco who currently have nine points by way of going unbeaten.
Their 3-0 home win over Gabon set up this final match-day showdown whilst Ivory Coast were slipping up in Gabon, but they too could be left to regret drawing too many games if they’ve overtaken at the last here. 0-0 games have been so common in African qualification this year, but the hosts cannot afford one here.
Morocco are getting plenty of respect as Ivory Coast ast are priced at 11/10 with William Hill whilst the draw is available at just 11/5 through Bet365. Morocco themselves are best odds 3/1 with Betfred.
Ivory Coast started the group stage more positively than they’ve finished it, with their 0-0 draw in Morocco becoming a positive result if they were to win here. But they were poor as the exited the African Cup of Nations tournament amidst this qualifying campaign, and they’ve already began qualifying for the next tournament by losing 2-3 at home to Guinea. There’s no consistency or confidence about this time.
But we know that when push comes to shove, this is a team with a lot of quality. Arguably less than previous years though, and Morocco are in strong form. They haven’t lost in their last six games which included a 1-1 away draw and a 3-1 home win over Egypt in the African Nations Championship. Momentum just might be key.
Back our Free Betting Tip: Morocco +0.5AH at 4/5 with Bet365
Games have been tight in this region and both of these sides have been no stranger to 0-0 draws. That was the outcome when the sides first met, and that would suit Morocco here. Playing for such a result is a risky strategy and not likely what Morocco will do, but African teams so often fail to turn up and lack quality in key moments.
Back our Score Prediction: 0-0 Draw at 11/2 with Betfair
Seeing as there is no goals being predicted in this game, we probably shouldn’t advise a goal scorer! But you can bet on their being exactly zero goals at 5/1 with Bet365, which is higher odds than anyone is offering for the 0-0 draw oddly enough.Back our Scorer Prediction: No goals at 5/1 with Bet365
