Leeds United vs Middlesbrough Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview
Leeds United and Middlesbrough have been on a collision course ever since Garry Monk’s summer switch and the arrival of Victor Orta at Elland Road. Far from being a rivalry, there has at least been a healthy spat or two between fans on social media.
Game: Leeds United vs Middlesbrough
Venue: Elland Road Stadium
Kick-off: Sunday, 19th November, 1.15PM
Leeds United started the season like a house on fire whilst Middlesbrough seemed to struggle to adjust at this level. Since then the tables have turned, as United have lost seven of their last eight matches and potentially even threatened Thomas Christiansen’s position as manager.
Boro have suffered far fewer losses than United have, but their main issue was inconsistency. Things could just be falling into place now for Monk and his men, as they picked up three consecutive victories before the International break.
Reading, Hull and Sunderland were all beaten as big money signing Britt Assombalonga played a starring role. Leeds United should need no motivation for a game like this in-front of a 40,000 sell out Elland Road, but they are considered narrow underdogs with some bookmakers.
Leeds United can be backed at best odds of 15/8 with Paddy Power, and the draw at 9/4 through Bet365. Ladbrokes are making Middlesbrough favorites at odds of 17/11.
There’s little defending seven losses in eight games. TC insists his side hasn’t been far away in many of those losses, and indeed, they probably deserved to beat Brentford before the break, and home losses to Sheffield United and Reading were both a little bit cruel. But Leeds have been toothless up top and individual errors are a problem.
Middlesbrough are in good form at the moment, and needless to say Garry Monk would enjoy winning here. Monk has come under fire from the Leeds fans for having no plan B over the summer, but his plan a has Boro sat in fifth place and ahead of the Whites for now.

Boro have been hard to break down recently and United, at their best, were no slouches defensively themselves. It’s not very often Leeds United fail to score at Elland Road in recent seasons, but the individual errors on display are unlikely to disappear overnight. Expect United to net, but individual mistakes could cost them again.
Back our Score Prediction: Middlesbrough 2-1 at 10/1 with Betfair
Britt Assombalonga has looked more dangerous than his goals record suggests. Many have labelled him the best natural scorer outside of the Premier League, and the quality of his recent headed goals support that theory. Leeds can’t afford any slip ups at the back with this man lurking on their shoulders.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Britt Assombalonga to score (Awaiting Odds)
