Manchester City vs Napoli Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview
Manchester City will continue a week of home comforts as they welcome Italian outfit Napoli to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening. The all blue clash promises to be one of the most entertaining ties of matchday three.
Game: Manchester City vs Napoli
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Kick-off: Tuesday 17th October, 7.45PM
Prior to the weekend, both Manchester City and Napoli sit atop of their domestic tables with sterling records. Napoli have won all seven of their Serie A ties but face perhaps their toughest week so far this season. The schedule means Napoli will do with three flights in three days whilst also preparing for big games at the Olimpico and Etihad.
City will enjoy home comforts this week as they host Stoke in the Premier League on Saturday and will be afforded some rotation, and also a much less complicated turnaround and extended rest period. City’s spectacular performances this season have earned them the tag of clear favorites here, but it seems lazy to write Napoli.
Despite City’s dominance so far this season, struggling Everton came and frustrated City on this ground whilst Shakhtar, although eventual losers, even managed to take the game to the Citizens for large parts before fading later on, but Napoli are still searching for their first away win of note in modern-day Champions League Football.
Manchester City are as slim as 4/7 with Paddy Power whilst the draw is available at 7/2 through Unibet. Bet365 are best odds on a Napoli win at 4/1.
Whilst Napoli have been strong in league play so far this season you can make a case for their quick start being largely down to the quality of opposition. Winning 4-1 away to Lazio is no fluke, but that game aside, it’s been a who's who of sides that could struggle. City have shown their worth against a couple of very good sides so far, and their sheer dominance against lesser sides has been frightening. But, Napoli have netted in their last 28 away games.
Back our Free Betting Tip: City Win/Both Teams Score at 8/5 with Stan James
Although they aren’t too recent, both Arsenal and Chelsea ran out comfortable winners when hosting Napoli and the best they could manage against a much weaker City side was a 1-1 draw. This may not be a 5-0 walk-over, but the Italian’s defence do tend to concede in bunches and City are hard to break down at the moment.
Back our Score Prediction: Manchester City 3-1 at 9/1 with Betfred
Sergio Aguero is on his way back from a devastating injury but this game should come much too soon. Despite his quality of performance this season, it’s hard to see Aguero being that big a miss with the way City are flowing at a team. Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus have both been lethal, and the former could unlock Napoli on the counter at some point.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Back Leroy Sane to score
