Manchester United vs Everton Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Aston Villa failed to take advantage of playing an hour against 10 men, leaving them with just one win in seven. Barnsley have the same point tally but have won four of five games at Oakwell this season.
Game: Manchester United vs Everton
Venue: Old Trafford
Kick-off: Sunday 17th September, 4PM
Manchester United have won four of five games so far this season, scoring two goals in each of those games. Everton started the season well with a good draw away to Manchester City and followed that up by seeing the job through in tough conditions away to Hadjuk Split. Things went downhill from there.
Chelsea away is a tough fixture for any team but there was a feeling Everton could cause an upset ahead of the game. In the end, the Toffees lost 2-0 and put up little resistance. Their 3-0 home loss to Spurs the week after prompted harsh words and a call for a response from Ronald Koeman, but Everton were utterly woeful away to Atalanta.
Everton won just four away games last season and all of them came against sides that were struggling at the time. The Toffees conceded a total of 16 across six trips to the top six sides and top just two points, which were a pair of 1-1 draws in Manchester.
Manchester United are a slim price at 4/11 with Bet365 whilst the draw can be backed at 3/1 with Betfred. Everton are a big price at 10/1 with Bet Victor but it seems justified.
Last season Everton took 1-1 draws from both games in Manchester and they achieved as much when visiting the blue side at the start of the season. All three results seem to have come in favourable circumstances, and United’s current form suggests a fourth isn’t a likely outcome.
No doubt Koeman will have strong words for his Everton players and another response will be expected, but this is a hard game. One poor performance is part and parcel of football, but the last 180 of Everton’s display will have put mounting pressure on them ahead of this game.
There’s certainly enough pressure involved in traveling to Old Trafford and with Manchester United’s goalscoring record so far this season, Everton do not look at all creative enough to trouble Mourinho’s men at present.
Back our Free Betting Tip: Manchester United: Win to Nil at 1/1 with Bet365
Everton are struggling to score with just three goals in their last six games in all competitions and that has to be taken into account. Only Stoke and Real Madrid have breached United, who have yet to score fewer than two goals in a Premier League game. Paul Pogba is the main creative force and will miss this game through injury. so United may just need to be patient before pulling away late on.
Back our Score Prediction: Manchester United to win 2-0 at 4/1 with Betfred
Romelu Lukaku has been a thorn in the side of every team United have faced so far this season with the Belgian hitman registering six goals in six games. The absence of Paul Pogba may slow Manchester United down slightly here, so Lukaku cuts even more important of a figure.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Back Romelu Lukaku to score at 4/5 with Paddy Power
