Manchester United vs Newcastle United Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview
Manchester United have lost two of their last three away from home and have fell off the title pace. But their home form remains strong as they prepare to host a Newcastle side were in good form themselves prior to their pre-international break defeats.
Game: Manchester United vs Newcastle United
Venue: Old Trafford Stadium
Kick-off: Saturday, 18th November, 5.30PM
Newcastle United had won four of seven and picked up a couple of draws along the way after a torrid start to life in the Premier League. Rafael Benitez had made clear his disappointment that Newcastle could have done more in the transfer window, but the Spaniard had began working wonders prior to November.
On the eve of November Newcastle were beaten 1-0 at Burnley before their home game with Bournemouth resulted in another 1-0 loss just six days later. Less of Benitez’s men have spent the International break out playing than United’s, but it may take more than some fresh legs to turn around their torrid record against United.
Newcastle have won just twice in their last 30 meetings with United, often having lost here at Old Trafford. But they have kept two clean sheets and picked up four points in their last two tips here, despite one of them being during a relegation season full of struggles. It’ll take a similar rearguard action to earn anything here.
It’s certainly no surprise to see that Manchester United are clear 3/10 favorites with Sky Bet whilst the draw is available at 4/1 with Coral. Visiting Newcastle can be backed at massive odds of 12/1 with Betfred.
Manchester United have won every single competitive home game so far this season. Only Burton Albion of all teams have broken them down and scored in that time, with Tottenham, Benfica and Leicester amongst the seven sides to have been shut out and beaten by two clear goals. It’s a record that doesn’t make pretty reading for any visiting team, and especially one that seemed to struggle with finding the net before the International break.

Even in defeat, Newcastle looked fairly well organised. They’ve held eight of their last nine opponents to one goal or fewer, keeping clean sheets against Swansea, West Ham and Palace. Perhaps not the most potent of company in their circumstances, and with a clean sheet rather unlikely here, Newcastle will surely be punished if they turn up without their scoring boots.
Back our Score Prediction: Manchester United to win 2-0 at 9/2 with Betfred
Romelu Lukaku is United’s top scorer with 10 goals in all competitions, but he hasn’t found a Premier League goal since an ultimately irrelevant fourth when United beat Palace 4-0 here in late September. After a good performance and a pair of International goals last weekend, Lukaku should be confident of getting back among the goals here.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Romelu Lukaku to score at 13/19 with Bet365
