Manchester Utd vs Leicester Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

All is not well just because United knocked a League One side out of the Cup. Mourinho's men have a lot of questions to answer, and the reigning Premier League champions provide them a good opportunity do exactly that. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.

Game: Manchester United vs Leicester City

Venue: Old Trafford

Kick off: Saturday, 24th September, 12.30pm

Leicester are of course the reigning Premier League champions and they left Old Trafford with a point last season. They performed well on their Champions League debut, but they haven't fared well outside of that. I picked a 10th place finish for Leicester at the start of the season and I'll stick to that from what I've seen.

They were beaten 4-1 by Liverpool and 4-2 by Chelsea. United have already beaten them in the Community Shield, and when up against a wall of orange at the KC Stadium they were caught on the counter to lose 2-1. United faced the same scenario and won late in the day.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Manchester United are 4/6 favourites to win this game with bookmaker Sky Bet. The draw can be backed at 31/10 through Bet Victor whilst the away side, Leicester, are available at odds of 4/1 with Stan James.

The odds may seem harsh on Leicester and also not representative of United's form at present – and they are – but I understand them. Mourinho's side with the talent it has can only lose so many games before bouncing back, because I do believe United's problems only extend as far as their managers team selection and his reluctance to drop a big name.I'm not saying Wayne Rooney shouldn't be in the team, but Pogba must take priority given the transfer fee and his ability, and he cannot play in certain formations. United tried to accommodate Pogba last time out, but it meant deploying Rooney and Fellaini in less familiar positions. Fellaini especially was useless in my opinion.

I don't see the value in backing United's price of 4/6 though. It's not like there's a world between Leicester and any team in this league, and even if there was you expect they'd have the nouseto close the gap. They aren't the same stubborn group this year though and they do have the Champions League game on Tuesday to consider. Back United –0.75AH at best odds of 9/10 with Bet365 as our free betting tip.

This won't be a clear cut game for sure. I don't think United quite have the quality that Liverpool have going forward at present, or the fire power to over turn a 2-0 deficit like Chelsea did. I think there will be a crucial part of this game where the fans can stick with it or turn on United, but in the end Mourinho's men will find the break through. Back United to win 2-1 at odds of 8/1 with Bet Victor

Plain and simple Zlatan is the the most consistent scorer I've ever seen behind Messi and Cristiano. His technique is arguably on par with those players, though. United really need a win here and he's the sort of player who needs to step up. Back the Swede to score at 5/4 with Sky Bet.
