Millwall vs Birmingham Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview
Millwall have found it tough adjusting to life in the Championship but they’ve been able to rely on home comforts to pick up points. A loss here could see Birmingham City fall into the relegation zone, but Cotterill's first game in charge was a win over Cardiff City.
Game: Millwall vs Birmingham
Venue: New Den
Kick-off: Saturday 21st October, 5.30PM
Millwall are 17th in the table but they’re coping, picking up points in half of their away games and winning half of their home games. It’s the little things that have been the difference as Millwall continue to adjust to this level, as failure to take their chances saw them lose out at Forest, Wolves and against Barnsley despite being in the game.
Things had to get worse before they got better for Steve Cotterill and Birmingham City. The new boss watched his side from the stands as Hull dismantled them 6-1, but all was forgotten as a 1-0 win over Cardiff City set Cotterill's reign off on the right foot.
That was City’s second home win in a row with a 1-0 triumph over Sheffield Wednesday easing tensions before that, but now attentions must turn to addressing their dire away form. Despite playing well in patches, and especially against Leeds United, Birmingham have picked up one point from six away games.
Millwall are best priced 6/5 with Bet365 to pick up the home win whilst the draw can be backed at 12/5 with Betfred. Birmingham City at best odds 13/5 with Betfair.
It’s hard to separate these two. Millwall have played well in a lot of games, but they’re struggling to consistent pick up the results their performances have deserved. Birmingham arguably deserved more from a trip to Leeds and with new enthusiasm at the helm, CIty’s 6-1 loss at Hull could serve to motivate rather than deteriorate.

Five of City’s away games have been decided by a goal or less with City’s struggles to score being highlighted in some narrow losses. There’s no doubt that City have enough talent going forward, though. Millwall have paid the same price on occassion, but they’ve often burst into life at home. Both sides have scored in five of six and four of those games saw three or more goals.
Back our Score Prediction: Birmingham to win 2-1 at 11/1 with Betfred
George Saville has four of Millwall’s 15 goals this season but can’t be expected to remain key contributor from midfield position. Millwall will want more from their strikers who so far have two goals apiece, but have in all fairness contributed in other ways. Meanwhile, Birmingham will just be happy for anyone to start scoring goals. Sam Gallagher looked a constant threat even in a very poor Blackburn side last season.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Back Sam Gallagher to score at 11/4 with Betfred
