Netherlands vs France Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
Both sides were held to a draw in their first game and followed up with a 4-1 win midweek. Holland made light work of a Belarus side that held France to a 0-0 draw in their first game. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.
Netherlands vs France
Venue: Amsterdam ArenA
Kick-off: Monday 10th October, 7.45pm
Holland were in a very transitional phase and I'm not certain they've come out of it yet. Their one friendly since the Euros resulted in a 2-1 loss to a Greece side with their own problems, whilst they were somewhat fortunate during their 1-1 draw with Sweden. The win over Belarus was an absolute must and no surprise.
France had a slight hangover from the Euro 2016 disappointment on show as they lacked the cutting edge to finish off a weak Belarus side in a 0-0 draw. France were absolutely dominant, but they didn't look at all assured in the final third.
France won their last trip to face the Dutch here, 3-2, just prior to Euro 2016. They've lost only one of their last five meetings on Dutch soil having won three of them, but something about this game leaves me unconvinced that they'll win again here.
Match Predictions and Betting Tips
Netherlands are 5/2 with Bet Victor to get the win at home here whilst the draw can be backed at 23/10 through 888Sport. France are 7/5 with Paddy Power and the clear favourites to win this game, although it won't be easy.
France are a good side, but they're still a young side with a lot to learn. If they couldn't work out how to break down Belarus in their first away game then they won't find it any easier breaking down a Dutch side who know their limits and can't afford to push too many numbers forward. The last time these sides met an 88th minute goal from Olivier Giroud decide the game as France were 3-2 victors. They possibly didn't deserve that victory but they got it. Holland drew level in the 86th minute in what was a very entertaining game. We could see a repeat here and with a more concentrated effort at the back from the Dutch, they might just hold on this time.Back a 2-2 draw as our correct score prediction at odds of 15/1 with Betfair.
The Spurs front man has seen his chances domestically limited lately, but he's a threat for his country. Janssen drew Holland level in the 86th minute the last time these sides met here. Back Vincent Janssen to score at odds of 13/5 with Bet365.
