Norwich vs Chelsea Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview
Back at it now. This is only the Saturday game as it's a short turnaround otherwise. All previews will be sent this afternoon through until the morning and will be Sunday/Monday onwards. We'll have up until the weekend covered in good time.
Norwich will have the opportunity to shock a Premier League giant in front of the TV cameras on Saturday evening, as they welcome third-place Chelsea to Carrow Road.
Game: Norwich vs Chelsea
Venue: Carrow Road
Kick-off: 5.30PM, Saturday 6th January
Norwich have found life in the Championship tough this season. The Canaries have underperformed at home and failed to match the stellar form on display in the second half of last season at home. But there are signs they’re getting back to their best.
Chelsea’s recent performances have been, of course, superb. Their second half performance after conceding at the Emirates was good enough to take all three points, and the Blues have only lost once in their last 15 outings.
Chelsea haven’t been stung by a side outside the Premier League on their travels since Barnsley beat them 1-0 back in 2008, a run spanning nine wins and a draw. Chelsea were 2-0 victors last season at current runaway leaders Wolves.
Norwich are a huge price at 13/2 with Bet365, whilst the draw can be backed at 4/1 through the same outlet. Chelsea are expected favorites at a price of 1/2 with Sky Bet.
It’s hard to make a clear case for Norwich when you consider the quality of the two sides. The near week long break for the FA Cup ensures Premier League clubs should field a very strong side, and Norwich home form has not been the most inspiring this season.
Norwich have won just one of their last nine FA Cup games and have been beaten without scoring by Southampton, Manchester City and Fulham in that time. The Blues have won their last three trips to Championship sides without conceding.
Back our Free Betting Tip: Chelsea win to nil:
Norwich won’t want to be embarrassed and they should put up a strong fight, but teams at this level will always bow to Premier League quality if a side like Chelsea are at their best. Chelsea’s defence has been very solid this season and there’s no need for Chelsea to go gung-ho.
Back our Score Prediction: Chelsea to win 2-0 at 6/1 with Bet365
Rotation may be inevitable despite the fact this is essentially a week off for Premier League sides. Chelsea played just three days prior but haven’t had that hectic a Christmas period, but Morata’s starts mixed with his recent poor finishing should see Michy Batshuayi handed a chance.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Michy Batshuayi at 5/4 with Betfred
